They did this in Canada already and I canceled my subscription. Good luck, Netflix. Hope this burns you in the end.
Where do you see this "rapid" loss of subscribers? You do realize that they are losing subscribers across the board at a rapid pace, don't you?
And after that they release a Black and white version with ads that is also 480p and super grainy and fuzzy with only captures also no sound but buzzing and hums for $3.99/moMaybe Netflix will next introduce a Black & White only service with ads for $4.99/mo?

DVDs (and I still order from dvd.com) use your own resources to play the dvds. Duplication is illegal except for a backup of a legally owned copy and people 100 miles away usually can’t watch the dvd. Of course there is a rabbit hole of things people can do with rented dvds that for the most part are probably illegal.Does anyone still miss the Netflix DVDs? Who remembers those? Back in the days, it was OK to share/borrow DVDs without any problems.

Netflix apologists? I got a laugh. In your example the "kid" would seemingly be in compliance to the TOS to watch elsewhere as long as a check-in to the home network occurs once a month.Thank you! These Netflix-apologists always ignore this reality. It’s completely fair.
Let’s say there’s an account that a kid uses just for themselves, their parents are divorced and live apart and the kid goes between the houses. If the kid watches at both houses, this is “stealing” according to the rude and smug apologists. I don’t understand why they are being so intentionally and unfairly insulting. It’s not all “oh I’m gonna share with 25 of my friends”.
It seems like the value to price/function ratio has tipped for you. Fair enough. Netflix is entitled to run their business the way the see fit and you're entitled to use their services if you find them appealing or not, if you don't.Seems like Netflix really wants me to cancel my service?
99% of my/my in-home family usage is when I’m traveling?
I’ve kept it because for the most part, up until now, it was the easiest service to just get my travel AppleTV connected to the internet and hdmi on the hotel tv and watch…
As soon as it’s a hassle to use while on the road, canceled. Unpack my gear bag at least once a month or it won’t work on the road? Canceled. Doesn’t work right for someone at home who doesn’t want to watch anything we’ll watch together when I get home and just wants to rewatch a familiar movie on Netflix? Canceled.
I’ll watch MST3K or Classic Doctor Who on PlutoTV instead.
SMFH
I seem to remember in 2011 it was predicted by MR posters that Apple would die a slow death and here we are in 2023, 12 years later. I see the same type of thinking for Netflix even though some vocal minority has "cancelled".Thank you. I still think this is smoke and mirrors from a dying company.
I think the first series I binged was the first and second season of Dexter. The following year they added a very limited streaming with a max of like 10 hours a month and I thought that was stupid 🤣Does anyone still miss the Netflix DVDs? Who remembers those? I used to do this, now I just don’t renew anymore, too expensive for my taste. Still think Netflix is decent value compared to back in days where you could rent 2 DVDs for a few days at blockbuster lolToo many have forgot what streaming was all about. No longterm contracts and user choices. Setting and forgetting was the old school cable model. I will treat Netflix like all the others. Watch, cancel, watch, cancel as the entertainment meets my wants. The best time for cancel, summer. Got lots of other options. No use paying for those months. What streaming was all about.
Hyperbolic much?I’m here just for the comments to see how people justify stealing
I only realised I hadn't used Netflix in almost three months last week. I'll easily give up Netflix for the time being.Zero Worries. Canceled Netflix a long time ago and I don't have any regrets!
Also sucks if you have a cottage. You'll have to purchase two subscriptions if you want to use a TV.
I don’t understand this. If I’m sharing a password with family who live at another location, of course they will open it once a month. If the primary user has to be there and open the app once a month, how exactly do they check who is logging in? I don’t get it.The article says “There are allowances for travel or second homes, with Netflix requiring users to open the Netflix app at the primary location once per month.” So at least there’s that?
The various devices MAC addresses involved can be associated with whats normally used at a residence's LAN the most.I don’t understand this. This but for every appI just wish the apple tv app would auto choose me, instead of me having to select a dang user every time.
Netflix.
It's just me.
Just auto log in please.
There is some wiggle room for normal users that are active at two locations (travel or 2nd home) instead of a single residence). Common devices would be TVs used or Digital streaming receivers like an Apple TV. It's not going to be how many devices you have at locations but more to whats is used the most and that you remain max of 4 sessions at the same time. They might inquire that you validate a device as I recall. The article says “There are allowances for travel or second homes, with Netflix requiring users to open the Netflix app at the primary location once per month.” So at least there’s that?
