Clearly an Indication that they don't think they have ANY legitimate competition !

And that naturally includes Apple.

Would be nice if Apple did license the new James Bond movie.

IMO, it would start to make them legit.

Next up, license the rights to RE-do the last season of Game of Thrones !

It’s impressive you know what Netflix cost of business is. Does your crystal ball tell you anything else?

That’s fine. You’re entitled to leave whenever you want. But the reality is most people won’t leave over a $2.00 hike when Netflix continues to invest into its platform.
But they invest in trash. For me I look at Disney + with 4K hdr and honestly laugh at Netflix. The Mandalorian season 2 starts tomorrow. Netflix on the other hand has that Adam Sandler Halloween movie.

First its no longer 8.99/mth it's going up or has already.

Secondly, many ppl like myself still have not purchased a 4K TV, or have an AppleTV4 (non-4K), or watch exclusively on their laptops or smartphones that don't have 4K. Many smartphones cannot render 4K natively on their display anyway.

Main reason I haven't purchased a 4K TV ... I don't want Alexa on my TV at all. I don't want any 'smart' function in the TV itself ... I want an exclusive separate box. I've seen many of my friends' Sony, Insignia, LG and other SmartTV's get super slow or chugging for just the menu. I'm not about that.

So unless I can find a 4K TV with no smart function or with a smart OS that I can verifiably fully disable or WIPE in the menu entirely then I don't want it. It's like my cable internet provider forcing it's customers to use their Modem/WiFi as a combo when we'd rather own our own WiFi router - yet still paying more per month for a router we're not wanting to ever use!
Not sure why you are opposing my "why does a 480p basic plan still exist" question with a "4K" answer.

IMO the basic plan should be 720p.

I use only one screen at time but expecting 4K resolution (what isn’t something extraordinary in 2020). Why Netflix cannot rebuild offer more radically?

hmmm. I was just about to cancel and then saw this while logged into Netflix. “Your membership is included in T-Mobile package activated on 2/11/20. Contact T-Mobile for billing details.”

I forgot T-Mobile included Netflix HD + 2 screens for free. hope it lasts.

The current prices in Australia, which went up recently, are the following:
  • $10.99
  • $15.99
  • $19.99
I'm a big fan of the following:
  • Netflix Originals only option
  • iPhone, iPad, & Android phones only option.

Amazon prime is junk.
90% of the shows on there you click on to watch, then a "Buy Now" or "Rent Now" with a $ figure appears. Not paying MORE money on top of my Prime Membership, to rent/buy a show/movie/tv episode. Sorry.
At least with Netflix, what you see, is what you get to watch for the fee you are paying.....
I've never paid anything extra to watch anything on Amazon Prime TV other than my annual fee.

Cmon bro. Really. I love Star Wars but your argument is the Mandalorian?

I am not terribly happy about this price increase but it is something we use daily so... we won't be getting rid of it anytime soon. :(.

Hulu - $11.99
Netflix - $18.99
Youtube Premium - $9.99
AppleTV+ - $4.99
Prime - $12.99 a month
Disney+ - $6.99 a month
CBS - $9.99
HBO Max - $14.99
ESPN+ - $4.99
Showtime - $10.99
Starz - $8.99
Apple Music, $9.99

I think it's actually cheaper to just get Comcast and watch everything minus AppleTV & Netflix.

I think I've subconsciously avoided browsing Netflix because their autoplay crap is so aggressive. Net result: I don't open the app much. Other net result: I might cancel because I haven't watched anything on Netflix in months.
Log in on a computer and you can turn off autoplay. Autoplay is really badly done, so thankfully that option is there.

I subscribed for 1 month this year to watch the latest series of The Last Kingdom and Better Call Saul. I might have stuck around if there was a reasonably priced 4K / 1 screen option.

CBS is $6.99/month with Commercials. Netflix is $17.99/month. I actually like ala-carte because I can stop paying for what I don't want to subscribe to any longer. I watch CBS right now for Star Trek Discovery. When that is over I will cancel my subscription to CBS.

Meh honestly for the amount I watch Netflix a little over a couple hundred bucks a year is nothing. I love the amount of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos content they provide as well. I'll cut every other streaming service out of my life before I get rid of Netflix, the others really don't even compare yet.

I cancelled when they starting cancelling shows like The OA and Mindhunter.
I don’t get how they can justify raising the price when their current strategy is attract new people with new shoes then cancel that show after a season or two and without a proper ending.
You raise a good point, I too also enjoyed the OA and was very disappointed that they canceled the show. There are other shows they canceled which I just don't understand why they did when the shows had a huge following. But this is a pattern not just with Netflix, even Network shows end up canceling shows after the 3 or 4 seasons and that if they are lucky. I come to terms that I should appreciate 1 season of a new series and not get my hopes up because it may get canceled. #SAVETHEOA :)

Orange Is The New Black ended last year.
Ozark will end with its next season.
13 Reasons Why, seasons 3 and 4 were utter garbage!
Stranger Things, last season was mediocre at best.
House of Cards ended and its last season was garbage.
Mindhunter is canceled now, as David Fincher just confirmed yesterday that nothing further is planned for this show.
Black Mirror, its last season had a huge drop in quality.
All their best shows are either canceled or coming to an end with their next seasons.

I'm glad I moved to Turkey last week then - even if price does go up we still have the cheapest sub in the world :)
