Some people don’t want to pay for HD. I don’t care if you think that is stupid. It is fact. Some even have 720p tv and still don’t want to pay for HD from Netflix. Not everyone does the same as you or others here. You aren’t paying their bills so stop worrying about what doesn’t affect you.
Are you actually unable to read or comprehend things, or just trolling?!

If you have a TV with LESS than 720p... aka 480p, it does NOT even have HDMI, and you CANNOT watch Netflix in any way! You simply cannot.

Also the main issue is not, that the basic price is too cheap, or people should pay up or anything. The problem is that Netflix is nickel and diming us. For he price they ask NOW, in 2020, anything below 720p is an absolute insult!

I'm not saying poor people, or old ones should pay Netflix more money. Netflix should offers higher resolution for the same a out of money.

Disinformation in this thread is outstanding.

You do know that digital signal can be converted to composite, right?

Totally reasonable. Though it'll be really tough for me laying out that extra 3.3 cents per day. :)

Everything can be converted, sure. But are we talking hypotheticals or real cases?!

His idea was, that there are poor people that have super old TVs that actually want to watch Netflix.
What is the realistic chance that they go out... and buy... Idk, a Fire TV Stick and also an HDMI to Composite Adapter?!

Either they really have no idea... or don't care...
or they spend like $150-200 to just buy a new TV.

Amazon prime is junk.
90% of the shows on there you click on to watch, then a "Buy Now" or "Rent Now" with a $ figure appears. Not paying MORE money on top of my Prime Membership, to rent/buy a show/movie/tv episode. Sorry.
At least with Netflix, what you see, is what you get to watch for the fee you are paying.....
Amazon Prime is actually great for movie fans. There are several older films (not boring series) and a lot of international titles. They do have a lot of junk, you just have to find the gems, IMDB is your friend.

I'll probably drop netflix too. I watch movies on there only. Most of their shows get dropped after three seasons.

No point in getting invested in stories and characters if they have such a short life.

Was so pissed how they left Santa Clarita Diet.

Anybody else hate how most the Netflix(well a lot) are dubbed voice over/foreign? I keep clicking on things and find it to be voiceover. I don’t always pay attention to the tv screen when I’m doing things and I can’t do these shows. Even so I don’t like subtitled shows and the voiceover wording is horribly cheesy. Netflix originals used to be good 5+ years ago.

It’s funny how Netflix cut down the bit rate on their 4K programming and now they are increasing the price. I’ve been on the 4K plan for a while now but I think now’s a good time to unsub especially when there’s nothing on that interests me.

Netflix has been on my kill list for a while, this will be their tipping point. Apple One is a no brainer for my family, that puts Apple TV+ on the menu.

Amazon Prime is cracking value and has some great content.

Disney+ is a must have for the kids.

All offer 4K as standard. Netflix just isn’t offering me enough to justify being more expensive than any of the competition.

"The basic plan that limits quality to standard definition continues to be $8.99 a month"

Why does this thing still exist?
First its no longer 8.99/mth it's going up or has already.

Secondly, many ppl like myself still have not purchased a 4K TV, or have an AppleTV4 (non-4K), or watch exclusively on their laptops or smartphones that don't have 4K. Many smartphones cannot render 4K natively on their display anyway.

Main reason I haven't purchased a 4K TV ... I don't want Alexa on my TV at all. I don't want any 'smart' function in the TV itself ... I want an exclusive separate box. I've seen many of my friends' Sony, Insignia, LG and other SmartTV's get super slow or chugging for just the menu. I'm not about that.

So unless I can find a 4K TV with no smart function or with a smart OS that I can verifiably fully disable or WIPE in the menu entirely then I don't want it. It's like my cable internet provider forcing it's customers to use their Modem/WiFi as a combo when we'd rather own our own WiFi router - yet still paying more per month for a router we're not wanting to ever use!

Trouble is if Apple had similar content then I’d get rid but it doesn’t and kids also have it on there tv’s so might have to bite the bullet if they increase in the UK too
Have you watched Servant. I just finished episode one. SO GOOD. Casting script cinematography and direction are excellent. Apple TV has some good content and it’s only been a year. Can you imagine what they will have given more time. Much much higher quality then Netflix.

Who’s gonna be next to increase prices? Seems like every time Netflix does it, other streaming services do the same.

Apart from stranger things what other best content are you referring too. It looks like it’s just full of reality shows and B films.
The shows I most enjoyed was the Umbrella Academy, Marcella, Lost In Space, Erased, Grace and Frankie, The Kominsky Method, The Rain. I was bummed when Netflix dropped Iron Fist, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Defenders. And believe it or not, I think the Great British Bake Bring show is pretty good.

We gave up Netflix two months ago because we couldn’t justify the price. Now I know we won’t be coming back....
I imagine I’ll subscribe one month at a time 1-2 times per year to catch up on some shows, but it’s just not worth that price.
Pretty much in line with my plan.

Shows:
Suits
Black Lightning 3rd Season
Van Helsing ~ I'm almost done, will be this weekend.

Their not including the Hugh Jackman Van Helsing movie for Halloween (the masquerade party scene is my favourite), nor the Predator movies (new one is junk) and I guess that's all.

I'll ween off the family so they get their own accounts and I'll stick to AppleTV+ and get trial for Disney+

All 5 seasons of Black Lightning is on CWTV. Supernatural is one of my all time favorite TV shows, 15 seasons. Bummer ending soon.

Lost in space was excellent. Forgot about that one. I thought umbrella academy was really boring. Rehashed superhero fodder. Horses for courses obviously

I get the basic one for free from T-Mobile and its fine for my occasional use. even though I create content, I feel its a waste of life to surround your life with so much content like a zombie. the basic one looks fine on my 4k TV. I haven't bought a OLED TV because I dont want to spoil myself and ruin my reality. Same reason I dont want to drive anyone's Tesla. I just dont want to know what im missing right now.
Relax, you can drive the Tesla. It’s not as much of a difference as fanboys claim. Great car for sure, especially for tech lovers but it’s not like it’s gonna make you feel bad every time you have to drive your old car again.
