Flip it around.

How would it impact you if other people had the option to sideload apps?

Would you feel compelled to do it, too? Would someone force you?

I don’t get it why you’d care if you didn’t plan to do it. I don’t get why you’d care what other people were doing with phones they’d paid for just like you paid for yours.

I don’t care about sideloading. But the thought of someone else wanting to do it also doesn’t make me inexplicably angry.
“Opening” iOS up would impact me long term, cause big part why people chose Apple is support, if I would have run into issues upgrading my 2+ year old phone to ios15, Apple would support me to resolve it (I have examples on the Mac side), opening iOS up will open the door to the abusers, as I’ve said before, 90+% of iOS users don’t know more care about “side loading, abuse”, they just click and when something doesn’t work anymore they call Apple, and with sideliaded apps, that support will go away? Or does Google or Samsung provide android support for the masses?
So, I want that support and that us one of the reasons why I am gainer “opening”.

And we can argue about this forever, I have no intent to convince you nor will you be able to convince me otherwise…

Let’s just agree to disagree

It’s about time for sideloading and third-party AppStores on iOS,iPadOS…
This is the same sentiment shared by every shady developer that wants you to sideload their app which steals your data, disclose your credit card and bank information, infects your device with malware and tracks everything you do and every place you go. Good luck with that. If / When that ever happens, don't blame apple. You got what you asked for.

I never use antivirus on my Windows gaming machine.

You know why? Because I don’t visit sketchy websites and install software whose provenance I’m uncertain of. I’m a big boy. I can manage my own security without some big tech company holding my hand and telling me what’s best for me.

Might something still get through? Sure. Just like all the horrible No-user-interaction-required iOS exploits Apple recently patched.
And you are clearly not representative of the average user, cause 90+% of all users regardless of OS just click on their social media crap sites/apps…

Still think it’s a flop?

Apple's profits from gaming outweighed those of major game companies, according to a report, with Apple earning more from App Store games in its 2019 fiscal year than Nintendo, Microsoft, Activision Blizzard, and Sony combined.

I have nothing against Apple Arcade, I think it's fine, but just to be clear, these 2 articles are about profit from App Store games, not specifically from Apple Arcade.

Ha! Netflix won’t survive. Good luck. Apple Arcade is way too good.

They are going after PS5, XBOX and other major gaming competitors.

Are you talking about the same Apple Arcade that gets “exclusive titles” that were released about 10 years ago? It’s not even in the same galaxy as the PS5 or Xbox. I can call myself a f***** legend but it doesn’t mean I am one. Apple Arcade is cheap but you get what you pay for. It will never been taken seriously as a gaming platform.

I don't think there's much to wonder about per "how" the games will appear on iOS. They just need to make iOS-native versions of the Android games. The more important thing to wonder about is whether or not they'll include Mac and ATV versions like Apple Arcade does.
But, if they make iOS-native versions, how do they tie them to a Netflix subscription? The first time they start up they ask you to log into Netflix, maybe?

Hold on, let’s look at the titles…
“Stranger Things: 1984” (BonusXP), “Stranger Things 3: The Game” (BonusXP), “Shooting Hoops” (Frosty Pop), “Card Blast” (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and “Teeter Up” (Frosty Pop).

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when reading these titles? :)
Teeter(Up)
and
Shooting Hoops

Hahahahaah is this a joke man? Apple doesn’t have anything on PS5, Xbox or Nintendo. Top notch performing devices with mobile quality games.

These figures are mostly for in-app purchases in the App Store. They don't even mention Apple Arcade and I doubt they include them. Apple's entire reason for Apple Arcade was to get away from in-app purchasing models but these figures clearly show that in-app purchasing generates much more revenue than Apple Arcade's subscription model. I like the idea of Apple Arcade and would like to see how much revenue it generates but since Apple won't disclose that number, it's probably not a good number.

Based on these titles, I can’t say I’m sure where Netflix is headed.
Apple Arcade is an added extra bonus on top of several other services (if you have a few others already on a family plan, add Apple Arcade for just a little more). Is Netflix planning on adding additional higher service tiers of which this will be one of many?

Stranger Things tie-in, knowing that they could be making bank by releasing this outside the subscription, what’s the financial benefit they’re looking for? If they continue to add free DLC, I could see how, in those months where nothing compelling is being released, you might stay subscribed to play the game you’ve come to enjoy. But if it’s a one and done game, then they could have made major dollars on it.

Don’t worry, I’m not a millennial and don’t fear the World Wide H4x0R Web, just like I don't need anybody holding my hand to cross the road.

I don’t know about everyone else, but what I pay Netflix for is video content. If I wanted Apple Arcade, I’d be paying for it.

I don't think that's their point, I think Netflix is going after the kids of parents who have a Netflix account !

A FREE bennie to keep them (i.e., the parents) as customers.

At least that's how I read it.

As pointed out before by others, this is more than only Arcade. In addition, think about how Apple is making that money. It's quantity, not quality. Many games in the app store don't break even, those creating these games are making a loss. They'll go bankrupt and are replaced by newcomers. Sometimes it takes a few days to make a game, sometimes months or years. In any case, Apple is taking away 30% with every sale, which means Apple is making money even if the game creator / game studio is making a loss. That's why it's so successful for Apple and in the majority of cases Apple only.

This is a slippery road to going back to big companies doing games and small time developers cut out.

When Apple release the AppStore they just didn’t just allow apps from third party develope houses on their platform, they allowed all developers big and small bringing back the bedroom homebrew, with Netflix Microsoft etc… that could come to an end
