It doesnt even matter what this is or not if you share an account. I already pay too much for a service I am not getting much out of. So for us it was easy to say okay canceled for the account price hike. And I feel like many people here will feel the same.

Netflix is clearly hurting themselves by giving poor subscription choices to their customers.

Couldn't agree more.

They don't want you to share your 3 screens you're paying for (when you only need one) but won't give the one screen users decent quality picture.

Couldn't agree more.

Netflix will come to their senses after enough people leave.

Bingo! If Netflix is not offering a level of service that provides you with value then don't sign up or cancel your sub, as their subscriptions plummet they will need to change or fail.

What people shouldn't do is take it upon themselves to say "I'm entitled to this content under pricing and service conditions that I want to define" and that is what sharing accounts is. No one is entitled to Netflix's content, it is not public domain. If you value their content then follow their pricing and TOS. Simple as that.

Netflix's poor choices are not an excuse to steal their content. The problem is that people want to see something like Wednesday or Stranger Things and feel entitled to it so they get it via someone else's account, that is theft. Why not sign up, binge the content you want and then cancel when the sub is no longer of value to you?

How will Netflix know if it’s someone outside the home or me at work or my girlfriends or wherever watching movies?

I pay for 4 simultaneous streams. Why does it matter where those streams are initiated? I’ve paid for that.

Change the number of available streams. Give people tiers to choose from. Then price accordingly.

Trying to block locations is just going to end up blocking legit users, which is not going to go over well.

Do…..people read threads on this site anymore? There are dozens of legit concerns here. Where are those “people expecting Netflix to be free”?

I’m certainly not demanding Netflix be made free. They advertised 2 streams for €13,50/month. So, I’ll take that. What should they care who watches those streams and where?

Netflix can’t do Sh*~ about it
Yes it will become like blockbuster all because of their dumb rules
I never understood why BB stopped charging late fees or at least made it a ridiculous 30 day period. Those fees are so people don't keep 2 day movies and games until they get the warning and return it at the last possible second to avoid the fee. Wouldn't even go look anymore because stuff was not available

It is not legal to share your cable modem and provide service outside of the household. There may be some situations where signal sharing is legal, but jn residential households for the most part it is not legal and could result in fines and arrest.

I pay €40/month for 30Mbps 4G, 300GB FUP. Trust me, my isp doesn’t care how many people use my internet connection.

How about you guys at least acknowledge that Netflix is being a thug. First of all no if it’s not 4K it’s not an option (welcome to 2022). Second if Netflix is forcing me to pay for four people for my one 4K stream that’s unethical.

I have paid since the early 2010s no questions never cancelled. I maybe watch Netflix the equivalent of a couple weeks each year. Everytime I have considered cancelling I think of my brother who uses my account probably a bit more than me. He wouldn’t be able to afford it on his own so I let it slide and keep paying.

Soon as that stops I have zero guilt quitting.

All of you calling that theft and saying it doesn’t affect you enjoy. Plenty of people like me and when Netflix realizes this was a bad decision they are going to likely finally offer a single 4K stream to try and stay alive. Guess what if I cancel I’m not resubscribing and once that backfires they are going to raise your costs to try to stay alive. So no worries it will ultimately affect you and your wallet.

If before this starts they offer a single 4K stream I’ll keep paying like I have for years and I’ll keep barely using it and they will win. They seem to be in a losing mood through.

Let the unethical thugs die. Let those who support overcharging pay more. I’m gonna switch to the sidelines watching you all defend a company that’s going to milk you for money while you defend them and tell them they can do whatever they want they are above ethics and standards.

Honestly I think it’s more entertaining than any show on Netflix itself.

How can I multi-like a post? Or is that stealing….

Sorry to inform you, how off-base your post is. As a for profit company Netflix provides a service. You decide if the service is worth the price. Not worth the price don’t buy the service.

Work for Netflix or not, it’s that simple.
I was responding to the question I was asked, which read:

“Makes me wonder what you all do for a living... would you all be ok with people "sharing" the fruits of your labor just because they think you charge too much?”

So I’m not sure why you’re talking about working for Netflix.

I know you’re really rooting for them, but I don’t care about Netflix as a for profit company. I do not and never will pay for their service as you suggested. I will however, continue to watch the shows I want to watch, and I will still sleep soundly at night. It’s that simple.

What area of your nether region did you pull that from? I didn’t say anything about unlimited streams. They all allow password sharing that isn’t based on location. HBO Max, for example, I share with my parents and grandparents. They have a max of 3 simultaneous streams so we can all watch at the same time without conflicts, but they don’t care where the streams are coming from. Same with every other streaming service I’m subscribed to. Netflix is the only one that cares. And they will lose subscribers over it. You should be able to watch however many streams you are paying for regardless of where you are located. Period.

You can literally do that now by changing your password. If you think they’re deadbeats, why did you give them your account information in the first place?

This, right here.

Good.

People should pay for services they use at the presented cost. If that cost is prohibitive or not of value to you then don't use it but don't steal it.

I pay for 4 screens. I can watch them all in one house, or 4 people can watch 1 screen each.

What’s your problem with that? I’m getting what I pay for? No-one is ‘stealing’, I’m paying for 4 screens.

You are paying for 4 screens or streams limited to members of your household. By using their service you agree to their TOS which defines an account being limited to a household.

If you are sharing your account with someone outside of your household, as defined in the TOS, you are in violation and stealing.

What is your problem with that? Pretty simple stuff, you might not like it but if you want their service and content you play by the rules or you steal from them.

10 Years from now, I can picture families rummaging around in the loft/garage, finding an old TV remote, looking down and seeing “Netflix” button, thinking themselves with nostalgic eyes, “remember those, my, where has the time gone”….\\

You need to look up the definition of stealing, because breaking the terms and conditions isn’t theft. No matter how much you flap your lips otherwise.

Me waking up in the morning, well-rested not caring about Netflix at all.

I would think that Netflix should think about better content if they want more subscribers.

I know a few who share, but here is the deal, the folks that they share with, will never pay, they will go without instead. I know I asked. They said, Netflix is not a good enough deal to pay for it, too much bad content.

The good content is maybe 1 show per month. Wake up Netflix, this is your problem.

So is it theft if I go to work, give my mate my house keys and say he is welcome to go to my place and use my Netflix account to binge to his hearts content?
