This doesn't bother me as, it seems, that Netflix was the only company really allowing this. Microsoft Office is limited, Apple ID is clearly not meant to be shared and allows up to 5 family members.

I think my big problem with Netflix is that is feels over priced; not that they will start disallowing friends and family sharing.
No such issues with Prime, Disney, Now TV (which is sky UK) OR paramount Plus and they all charge half the price of Netflix....bottom line is, it's my partner and her kids, that are the reasons I keep it going foremost of the year, because for me, with their content, I can watch everything I want in 2 separate months with 5 month intervals and that's what's going to happen with most users that share their Premiere account

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people here that conveniently leave out the important parts to justify theft.

It states very clearly "A Netflix account is for people who live together in a single household. Learn more about sharing Netflix."

You agreed to this by using the service. I don't like it either but it is what it is. Netflix owns their content or the distribution rights to other content and can charge what they want for you to view that content.

You are not entitled to change their TOS to suit your personal feelings on the matter.
Aren't Netflix stealing from me, by charging for 4 devises, and then expect me to only watch 1, I actually watch my service at my location and at my partners, so whose stealing from whom???

Why? It will end the same, as the origional account holders (ie. the paying subscribers) are still paying. It is the additional screens that Netflix are referring to. Why should they offer a FREE service,..they are a listed company. Would you offer services for free?
I won't keep their service and pay extra on top of $20 a moth, I will probably just get it for 1 month in 6, because that's all the content they have for me, I keep it all year round predominantly for my partner and her kids, where I spend at least 50% of my time

POINTS
  • Netflix added 7.66 million paid subscribers during the fourth quarter, more than the 4.57 million Wall Street expected.
  • This is the first quarter that Netflix’s ad tier is reflected in its earnings.
Here are the results:
  • EPS: 12 cents vs 45 cents per share, according to Refinitiv.
  • Revenue: $7.85 billion $7.85 billion, according to Refinitiv survey.
  • Global paid net subscribers: 7.66 million adds, compared to 4.57 million subscribers expected, according to StreetAccount estimates.
They'll be losing all more subscribers than they've signed and those are massaged numbers anyway

No. It's 4 devices in one household; presumably with up to 4 people (kids, friends, relatives, strangers, cats, dogs, etc) in that household. Read your agreement.

It sounds like you need to find a different streaming vendor.

In the first quarter, Netflix will lose all the revenue money "more broadly". This is not going to end very well for them. In addition, Netflix needs to focus on not charging extra for streaming video quality.
Yeah I keep hearing Netflix make this promise every year or is it a bluff at this point as I have heard this from them for the last three years minimum.

Netflix if you are going to do it then get on with already otherwise pipe down and suck it up, stop telling us and reminding us that you are going to or taking action for the umpteenth time.

I wonder how this will affect users who get Netflix through bundles, such as T-Mobile family plan users, who have deals like Netflix content not counting against bandwidth use

OK I get that their TOS specifically states an account is for members of a single household but that doesn't work in real life when you can access their product on...wait for it...mobile devices anywhere in the world.

I often take my Apple TV when I travel and watch Netflix from wherever I am. I'm sure millions of other people watch Netflix on their iPhone/iPad etc. when they are not physically in their home.

How are you going to enforce that in any practical way?

I guess this applies to most subscription-based streaming services, like Spotify, Apple Music, etc.? Genuinely curios how this is going to play out for Netflix, as I expect quite a few people leaving them as a result. A better strategy, IMO, would be reducing subscription prices for all, thus allowing more people to sign up. Policing the customers, on the other hand, will not go down so well.
