I prefer to turn off auto-update on my devices to be aware of when new updates come in... I didn't consider it came with other benefits..

Aaaaand my HomePod is dead. Called a relatively unprofessional Apple Rep and they’re sending a box to ship in my HomePod. They really should be paying US for all these constant inconveniences...

My fact stating is not an issue, your insecurity is. I’m sorry you were fooled into buying a speaker that only plays what apple lets you play. Lmao.
The real issue is that you don’t have a HomePod but you feel compelled to come to this forum and make fun of people who do as if that’s helping the situation in anyway.

Mine updated fine but the voice recognition feature doesn´t work for any other voice but my own. It just keeps saying “I did not recognise this voice. Who are you?”. It also feels slower to respond.

Glad it didn’t brick mine though.

Mine was doing that also. I turned off recognize voice for each person and turned it back on and rebooted each phone. Now it works for everyone.

The pain of firmware. Phones, routers, other networking gear, watches, other wearables, refrigerators...

I've never actually had a firmware update brick anything and I've even installed some third-party firmwares on older routers. With that said, even since the days of flashing my BIOS, I've always held my breath during the process. "Will this thing wake up in a usable state ever again?"

And I see no shortage of people griping about "quality control." This issue is going to probably continue to get worse for everyone—not better. The more complex soft/firmware becomes, the more unknown states exist that cannot be reasonably tested.

If this is some obvious thing that they do test for, QC is at fault. However, that does not appear to be the case or the problem would likely be more widespread. QC failure at this point would be not making a test case for whatever caused this issue.
They need to start hiring outside the Bay Area. Nobody wants to live there and they dont pay near enough for people to have a decent lifestyle.

They need to pull the update ASAP!!!!!

This is not the Apple I came to “know“ and appreciate.

All this hassle around iOS13 updates week in and out because they released a beta product and now this?

This kind of service I can get cheaper.

STILL NOT SWITCHING TO SAMSUNG, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT OR WHATEVER.

As if the grass is somehow greener over there...

That’s true, but my Google Home has never bricked over an update and I’ve never heard of a mass bricking incident so Apple might want to review their quality control protocol on software releases.

I did; two of them. Worked great for cooking. Alarms haven’t worked in awhile though.

Yeah man, lmao I'm really worried about what an internet stranger thinks of my buying decisions LMFAO.

I bought a HomePod because I use Apple Music and it works for me very well with HomeKit/AirPlay. I also have Sonos in certain parts of the house because they make more sense there. But yeah ROTFLMAO! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think the update is disabled as I can not download which apparently is a good thing, I did have my iPhone updated to 13.2 and still nothing on the download, assuming its been pulled but the app is trying to download something.

All four HomePods are dead. Thanks, Apple. Thanks, Craig Federighi. Google doesn’t even need to try. Apple is beating themselves up.
Geez...give it a break. Have you worked with technology before? It happens sometimes. The difference is Apple will fix it. Patience. This isn't bricking a Mac or Laptop. Chances are it's not an emergency. Is it good? No. is it the end of all Apple technology? No. And Google has what exactly to d with this? They take all your information and sell it whether their products work or not.
