Apple uses aluminum just slightly below the grade used in aircraft manufacturing. Its 99.xx% pure (cannot find the exact number at the moment).
And just because aluminum is soft does not mean it is not strong. Aluminum is incredibly strong. The applications range from engine blocks to automotive wheels to turbine engines to aircraft and automotive body panels to automotive suspension parts.
Think about commercial airplanes and cars such as the acura NSX or current Ferraris.

Titanium is definitely stronger than aluminum. And the Titanium PowerBook was mostly plastic.

The strength to weight ratio is what you need to look at.

You were unsure of how Apple does their manufacturing process by saying probably, you have yet to show any FACTUAL information on how the aluminum unibody costs more to manufacture than the polycarbonite unibody.

Again, you have yet to show any factual evidence that manufacturing aluminum costs more than polycarbonite plastic. It's just you guessing that it costs less.

Sounds like three people with zero knowledge of a subject passionately defending their completely unfounded assumptions pulled from thin air about a subject of zero importance.Hilarious!Do continue!

I thing this is starting to cross the line a bit..

Macrumors I believe to be a reputable source for Apple news and I understand the need for a scoop.. but this should not be posted. It is outright illegal what this person did by publishing this video about the prerelease Macbook. I don't think Macrumors should support these actions but republishing it.

I think people need to get over it. It's not that big of a deal whether some minor piece of tech is leaked before release or not.

It's not like we couldn't have guessed that Apple was going to update the Macbook. Anyone can look at the current model, and see that the next one would just be a Macbook Pro minus some minor features in a plastic case.

Please, don't take it so serious.

Glad to get a little performance boost. I really would like the hardware of the MBP, but when buying a laptop I'm just drawn (have been since the iBook) to the white casing of the MB. I guess it's just a personal preference thing (favorite color, after all).

Come Apple! Get over 5400 RPM HDD's, I mean really:rolleyes:, and 2GB of RAM:(, it's a pass

What would you expect from the MB? Its apples entry level machine targeted at people who would never need much more than what it offers.

I think these specs are great for the price.

Destroy all MacBooks

Only the Pros should live.

This has to be corporate espionage. I mean this has never happened. At least not with this frequency.
MS?
HTC?

The current MacBook already has a LED backlit display.
So the real update is
2.26 Ghz -> 2.4Ghz
9400M -> 320M

Maybe the actual thing costs even less now, which I see pretty unlikely as Apple will avoid that at any costs!

For the record, I have the "old" late 2009 Macbook.

WTF, why did i buy a MBP!?! lame...!

Be cause of the aluminum unibody? The backlit keyboard? The 4 GBs of RAM? The Firewire 800 port? The SD card reader?

Or perhaps even the longer lasting battery (someone stated that it lasts 7 hours versus the 10 hours of the Pro - though I can't seem to find evidence of that anywhere).

The increase in price is more than justified, imho.

You seem surprised about the news stories when coming to a website called MacRumors:confused: If news stories such as this were not posted, user clicks would lost to others who would post it.

Pardon? Macrumors is only living up to its name by posting this. I suppose you could make the case that they're being hypocrites by endlessly regurgitating old information from more aggressive sites many of their users claim to despise. Other than that, you get what you pay for. Also, when you say that "this" is outright illegal which jurisdiction are you referring to? I have no idea how the laws regarding trade secrets work in Vietnam so maybe you can fill us in?

I also must say that I really enjoyed seeing them cover up the alpha-numeric serials but still leave the BARCODES exposed. Not to mention the codes they left completely alone. MAC addresses can be traced back to serials as well. What a bunch of clueless maroons. Should be a piece of cake to figure out the chain of ownership for this unit.

Is Apple planning to up the HD for the 13" MB Pro? I noticed that the "Tech Specs" for the MB Pros does not mention a 250GB drive, although that's the current drive on the low-end 13" MB Pro. Tech Specs only mention 320 or 500 GB drives with options for upgrades. Oversight?? Did the Tech Specs omit mention of the 250GB drive previously?
You forgot to click on the 13" tab. When you click tech specs, it takes you to te 15" tab initially.
