Really? To me it looks too thin to be a case. Remember a case has to be THICKER than what it is protecting.

Spot on lol, in the most obvious sense of the word. That is definitely not a gen 1 case. Try fitting iPhone 1 in that lol, serious tight (not happening) squeeze unless that guy has the worlds largest fingers putting everything out of proportion!! :D

That's too thin to be an iPhone. I think those pics could be the real deal.

You guys do realize that the home button in the 2nd picture is the same as other photos that were leaked? The home button seems to have something around it..

Also looks very similar to the photo earlier today that showed the three different colored iPhones. Red, black and white. Of course there was a front camera in those photos, cant see if there is a hole for the camera in this one. It would be just to the right of the speaker...or left (since the phone is upside down).

Here is a link to a photo of what I was talking about.

lol wow I'm sorry, i meant that the iPhone in those pictures is too thin to be what is currently available and that has to be atleast a prototype of the 3G iPhone, which is rumored to be thinner

Aww, I see where you are coming from now!!! It came across like you meant that you didnt think that could be the next iPhone but then you said looks like the real deal lol which didnt make any sense, although what you were actually meaning makes perfect sense and is a valid point.

Sorry for being rubbish :(

Black white and red? Where the hell did red come from, unless it's a Product RED phone...

Only 14 days left till we find out. :D

Those are just terrible photoshop jobs. Nothing more, nothing less.

These pictures revealed today definitely have a lot more clout.

This is not a case it would be the housing of the actual phone. Could be fake samples sent out by apple to satisfy peoples desires to keep the real design under wraps till WWDC. Who knows....

What ever happened to "GLASS AND ALUMINUM"????
Well if we are lucky the backing is Zirconia instead of plastic. That makes the new iPhones "glass and ceramic" which is cooler (if true).

If it turns out to be fibreglass or something, then yeah... just another craptastic plastic phone. :(

.

There is no camera hole in that pic, unless it's DIRECTLY next to the speaker slot. Some people might be

IMO this is definitely close to being the real thing, I don't really like it so I hope it comes out a bit different or I won't be buying it. (unless it has some super feature that can't be lived without)

I would very much doubt that they would do that. I think your call on the Zirconia is one of the best yet. It fits the bill perfectly in every regard.

front mounted camera still possible

I kind of hope these are fake.

I want the metal-back, and I really was getting excited about a front iChat Camera.

I guess we'll all have to wait a few weeks longer, but, I'm borderline on buying a 3G iPhone right now. My Blackjack II might be able to carry me until apple comes out with a newer iPhone then "just" 3G.
Just to put the monkey wrench in again, there is clearly a smudge (or something) on the screen of this thing that could be the front mounted camera in pretty much the exact right location.

Also, if the camera is supposed to be under the glass (and it is), and this is an iphone without any "naughty bits" (also looks to be the case), then the front mounted camera wouldn't actually be there. The glass over the top of where it is supposed to be mounted need not show anything either.

So we could still be talking about a front mounted camera anyway. *crosses fingers* :)

I'm thinking I would buy it, it's just sad to see the nice aluminum iPhone being put back in its box... I just want to point out how explosive these exact pictures are - they are now on several front pages of multiple web pages...

Camera could still be there in the real phone. If the front side is the same size then the piece of glass could be gen 1 and the new phone would have a spot for the camera???

You should consider glasses. There is glass on that case.

...and you should consider reading sentences thoroughly.

seems like it could be a legit prototype shell to me.

i certainly hope thay the zirconia thing is right on...reception has been lacklustre on my iPhone & anything they can do to pick up the pace in that regard would be a huge plus.

Sure is hideous on the photos. I gotta say, I'm not really excited about the 3G iPhone. I think e-Mail and Safari on the iPhone are fun but not really usable because there's no spam filter, no password saver and Safari is just slow, even on WIFI. It's cool as an emergency solution or when you're bored but that's all. To me, the iPhone is a net iPod I can make calls with and send SMS, all without wanting to throw it out of the window like previous phones. I use the calendar a lot, too. Still waiting for the killer feature that would make me want the next iPhone.

cool or crap?

well the same company got the bid to make the 3G iphone, does it deal with zirconia ceramic?
If they are using ceramic, it would be designed by Apple and manufactured by the (only) manufacturer of that stuff. Those parts would be shipped over to the assembly plant and assembled just like any other computer product. I don't think the company has to have any special expertise.

The only way to tell would be to track orders from the Zirconia making place I guess.

Just thinking about it is driving me crazy.

If it's ceramic it could be the coolest case on the planet, if on the other hand it turns out to be plastic, then it could be one of the biggest let-downs ever. The stress of wondering which it will be is starting to make me physically sick.

I hope I haven't raised my expectations far too high again. :(
