Just received the case from best buy...is it supposed to have slight gaps around the edges where if I push the case, it gets closer to the iphone? Hard to explain but it seems as if all the edges are puffed out a bit

Mine case isn't like that. I do know what your talking about however.

I've had my blue leather case for a week now and I have so much wear on the back of my case. The wear starts at the edges and I have black marks. I guess the black dye from my scrubs that is wearing on the case.

I'm thinking about taking it off altogether.

I was so looking forward to getting this case for my iPhone 5....but I am really skeptical about getting a sub-standard product which wears off in a few days.

I will stick to switching between my Vaja case and my Spigen bumper.

Had my leather case for a whole week now and its still in perfect condition. Been in and out of my jeans pocket and no signs of wear.

I should point out though I have the black one, probably wears better than the colours.

I've noticed from pics that this case leaves a noticeable gap on the front of the phone. Almost so much that one can see the gold band around the sides (for example) Can anyone say that this is a problem? I feel it'd be a perfect lint trap or gunk trap and I probably won't be able to use it if that's the case.

There is an ever so slight gap between phone and case by the volume buttons. Since those buttons protrude from phone, they slightly push case away phone. Otherwise, it is snug. So snug, it's one of the hardest cases to remove from phone that I have owned.

I've read in numerous places that this case can be very difficult to remove once it's on. Any tricks/tips on how best to get it off when needed?

I understand that it's snug, but I'm talking about how you can easily see the phone's edge band. I know this case is designed like so and I'm asking if anybody notices lint buildup or anything else to fill that gap. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1380394217.003170.jpg

I start at a bottom corner to avoid damaging power button and volume buttons.

Either it is genuine leather or it is not.

I don't see why this case should wear better or worse than othr leather cases made of real leather. The only thing that would come to my mind is the color pigments comming off too easily. Apple explicitly stated that they improved on the coloring, the pigments allegedly go deeper than they were in the iPad smartcover.

So why should Apple mention this during the keynote if it was not true, at least to a small extent?

If it is weak pigmentation (maybe only on particular colors) on real leather the color beneath would most likely be white (bleached leather for the destination color to be more vibrant).

If it is an imitate then all the complaints make no sense. The artifical maerial should presumably be even more tough to discoloration as the pigments go through that material. Imagine the kindle paperwhite official case which is fake leather.

I think it is more discoloration coming from the closes, staining the leather. I had a cheap jeans with red dyed pockets where my keys would turn red beeing a while in that pocket.

In addition I think it is real leather (have a case here, still unused in lack of the phone). The box of the case says: "This case is made from natural aniline leather. Its appearance will change as you use it."

I think Monoprice is my next stop to get a black colored lightning cable. Has anyone else tried different cables with the leather case?

Monoprice cables fit my Apple leather case just fine. I have both the 3ft and 6ft Monoprice cables, ordered early this week.

I've had mine since Monday. In and out of jeans pockets, cup holders in cars, office desk, and it still looks brand new. No issues at all.

If anything gets stuck there I just blow it out.

Maybe mine might be defective, but this phone is stuck in there. To the point where I had to use a plastic screwdriver to wedge it out. Sounds like something wrong here?

Only in your approach to take the phone out of the case.

To remove the phone start at the bottom corners pushing the phone out from the back of the case. Get both corners started then work upward along the edges, pushing the phone out frothe back of the case.

It's in there tight. IMHO that is a positive for the case.

That's what I had did. But no luck. It's out but had to use the plastic screwdriver.

It's only been three days, but my brown one still looks perfect. In and out regularly of jean pockets.

FYI, using s t i ckerboy or any sticker on the sides and back may make the case harder to "snap" on and the power button harder to press.
