I must say Apple's customer service is the best in the biz! You really get treated well for the premium you pay on their products.

I ended up getting a black case today. I did love my brown case; however, due to the blackening of the backside it just did not fit sitting on a conference room table during a Bank board meeting. IMHO, the brown case is definitely more for a causal lifestyle while the black case is prefect for the boardroom.

Unfortunately my brown leather case for my 5S will be returned to apple. The hole for the headphone jack ripped and on the side of the case a very thin layer of leather is peeling off. I only had it for 1 day and a half. Its a shame cause i really liked the way it looks on my gold 5s. Its also very expensive $50 including tax here in canada. I might just use that money to buy a dock and a clear case

My black case is very close to ripping there too.

New issue for me is a break in the leather at the headphone jack. Happened as I was attempting to remove my phone for cleaning. Shouldn't be an issue to swap it out.

Interesting that some are seeing a break there. Did you remove the case often? Start at that corner?

You think? It looks worse in the flesh than the photo, it's sort of stained in a 'U' shape. The Apple rep I spoke to in the store today said he'd never seen one that bad and they'd had a lot returned

I see what you're saying, but if the leather darkened evenly instead of that U shape, it would be perfect.

Mine did the same thing but at the lightning port area. :(

But I have had mine since 10/6

So I don't think there is anything apple or I can do?

Really liking the brown leather on my space gray phone.

Check with them and see. Seems like I read there was a 1 year warranty which a break would seem to be covered? I don't know for sure though so don't quote me or get too excited.

That was how I felt for the first week or so. Then the fading, coloring and scuffing started. I was rebuking posters here who said it would fade. They were right. I am not a hard user and the phone is used in a business day setting and weekend jeans. If that picture were over a month old, I would be impressed. I hope it can stay like that, but I don't know how unless it is kept under a glass jar.

I remove the case every 10-14 days to remove the fine grit that can get in and mar the phones finish. With this case I start by pushing the camera access with my finger to get that part started and then work around from there.

Oh I got mine on release day but you can bet your bottom they will replace mine because this is a manufacture defect if you ask me, even if you don't, it still is.

Gotcha. I've had my black almost 30 days and I've taken it off weekly to clean out the grit. I always start in the corner by the volume buttons and work around clockwise. No breakage issues yet but I'll be sure to be careful in that area as well as the Lighting port opening.

Almost one month in and basically looks brand new... minus the sticker of course.

Funny about the sticker..... I put a black one on my red case. I liked the look.

Looks really nice, but do you think that the sticker will last long?
Mine has been on for several weeks without an issue and my phone goes in and out of my pocket a LOT.
You can tell if you look close that it is actually recessed into the area of the cases logo. I placed the sticker on there and rubbed it with a blunt object to help it stay in place.

Wow, how did you keep your red case from turning black like everyone else's did? Yours seems to have kept all its color!

Mine is getting some wear after light use, but it still feels nice to hold. Going to probably pick up another one and rotate cases. Really love this case.
