New issue for me is a break in the leather at the headphone jack. Happened as I was attempting to remove my phone for cleaning. Shouldn't be an issue to swap it out.

Removed my black one and the volume down button completely ripped. Went to my Apple Store and was in and out within 5 minutes. Swapped it with a new one on the shelf even though I was definitely out of my return window.

You think? It looks worse in the flesh than the photo, it's sort of stained in a 'U' shape. The Apple rep I spoke to in the store today said he'd never seen one that bad and they'd had a lot returned

I see what you're saying, but if the leather darkened evenly instead of that U shape, it would be perfect.

Aniline leather stains and darkens very easily. It's normal. Apple could have used a cheaper leather that didn't darken as easily, but they decided that they prefer the patina of a finer leather. It seems that not everyone agrees with that decision.

Don't get me wrong. I love the darkening of the leather, especially on the brown one, but I was just pointing out that I wished that his wear was more even.

Well there is a difference between acceptable "wear" look and it looking like someone took a black sharpie and outlined the edges of the red case.

They should have at least come up some cleaning directions.

I do not get the "fine leather" used on a phone case whose main purpose is to protect from the very things that are not good for fine leather.

I would not order Connolly Leather in a minivan that is used to haul soccer kids and it seems strange to use fine leather which blemishes when subjected to places phones go. Hey, to each his own, but I have seen nice leather in an older british sport car and a iPhone case that looks like the brown does in weeks does not look classic, it looks like leather subjected to stress.

I've had my black case for almost two weeks now, and it's definately the best case I've had since I bought my iPhone 5...and I've had a bunch of them! Fit and finish is superb, the in-hand feel is awesome being grippy but not to soft & not at all a "fingerprint magnet". Having watched the drop-test video on YouTube, I'm actually pretty assured that unless I totally slam it, the phone will be protected too!

Expensive...yeah, but no more than the average Otterbox or any case bought at your local AT&T, Verizon or Sprint store!

I personally think it's worth every penny!:)

Having trouble deciding between Brown or Beige for my Gold. Any advice? What seems to be the move popular pick?

Thanks!

I had the baige and it got extremely dirty really fast . So dirty that I went to exchange it to a black one . Been using the black one and no complaints . The brown one would be better for you probably.

Perfectly happy with the Product Red case on my Space Grey 5s. Looks great, feels great, the blazing red colour has toned down a bit and the patina 2 weeks in is rather nice. No nicks or wear & tear.

i don't think patina is the right word, but i catch your drift. Sorry just had to point that out.

My lucky skins sticker does't like to stay on. Stayed on for a day or 2 and then the leaf disappears. Oh well. Personally I didn't think it looked that nice with the lucky skins sticker.

I was wondering when someone would point that out. I think a poster in an earlier thread erroneously called this type of premature aging "patina" and now it's been used as a bonus feature.

Wow, how did you keep your red case from turning black like everyone else's did? Yours seems to have kept all its color!

I simply wipe mine down with an etoh pad when it starts to look dingy, takes it off nicely. You do get a slight bit of red dye but as you can see, it still looks great.... well except for the "crack" in the leather.

Don't listen to this guy unless you want to ruin your case. Lol.

I don't know, I had never heard of using alcohol on leather either, but his case seems to have fared better than any other red case I have seen on here... it looks like several leather articles talk about using alcohol for stain removal on leather. Perhaps in conjunction with a leather conditioner to combat dryness?

I used a baby wipe to clean my brown case today. Light rubs and it cleaned so much dirt off. The back was starting to look very dirty and now it looks almost new again..can't say the same for the sides and edges though, only the flat parts cleaned up real well

I tried using a leather cleaner and it really cleaned my case pretty well. However i only sprayed a micro fibre cloth once to clean it because if i put too much leather cleaner it might change the colour of the case, so its better to go little by little.

Heres what i used

I also noticed leather bag cleaners work as well. Just don't get leather cleaners with harsh chemicals

Will Apple replace my beige leather case for a black one after a month of usage? Its showing some horrendous scuffs and marks and I'm careful with my phone. Want the black one instead . If so I will go in store tomorrow. Thanks
