My coworker and I bought cases about a month ago. I got the black one which is still looking great and he got the beige one which is starting to darken and lose the felt look around the edges and buttons. I took pictures if anyone wants to see.

Yes please pics would be good

I don't use cases but my partner does. I am not sure what you people are doing to your cases. This is a picture of his launch day case. looks Clean to me.

And here's a picture of one that's pretty much babied. Looks pretty awful after 2 weeks of ownership:

Edit: I should mention, this pic was taken right after the case was cleaned. The discoloration is permanent.

Ive read a lot of reviews about the cases and i saw that it gets dirty real easy so i wanted to experiment and bought a leather protector spray which is supposed to protect the leather for wear, repel dirt, stains and water damage for my brown leather case. I bought the brown leather case for my gold 5s yesterday and sprayed it and let it dry for 6-8 hours. Its a clear spray with no scent so the case still looks the same and feels the same. I will post a picture of it in a few days or weeks to see if it actually works.

The main reason for this is so my case doesn't look dirty and wear fast after reading the bad reviews of how quick it gets dirty.

yep, just like the smart covers.

going black with black as well

My co-worker friend just got light blue. I just know she is going to bitch about the case getting dirty. Finally got her into the iPhone. I'll tell her to ask Siri how to clean it :p

I dropped my phone by accident from about 4 ft. and it landed on the bottom left corner of the case and it literally bent the corner of the case and on impact my phone came off the case. thankfully my phone was left with no scratches and also leather also teared off when the phone came out. Im looking into the Spigen tough armour right now.

EDIT:

It actually got a piece of the chamfered edge. Im pretty pissed off this is going back to apple

Apple leather case =! Otterbox Defender

I love the Apple leather case on my iPhone 5! It feel great and the fit is awesome. I usually HATE having a case for my phone. They tend to add too much bulk that just gets in the way but, with this case I don't feel that.
Definitely worth the $40.

Drop Protection

Fine print regarding the actual drop protection the Apple leather case provides:

Apple Leather Case for iPhone 5s will provide drop protection from an average of 4ft when landing on the following:

Carpet
Oriental rug
Sand
Gym Mat
Bath Mat
Trampoline
Marshmallows
Stack of cotton T-shirts
Bed full of stuffed animals
Freshly fallen snow
Baby diaper

Other than that we recommend AppleCare.

i bought the brown leather case for my 5s and i love it. its now starting to get the worn in look which is what leather does after time. I see people trying to clean the case with all types of sprays my suggestion is don't it will make it look bad. Leather is a natural skin it is supposed to stain and look weathered over time same as shoes and jackets. the more and more it gets discolored the better it will look i promise.
Also the reason why jeans color is showing up on the leather because the dye in jeans is being absorbed by the leather. i will post pictures of my case after some time to show you that it gets better with age.

good luck to you all.

:D funniest post I've read today. (It's still early)

sorry, i didn't bother to read this entire thread, but i have a question that may have been discussed already...

will this slim leather case all the lightning-30pin adapter to fully seat?

a major complaint with this adapter is that the connector does not protrude far enough out, thus cases keep the contacts from actually seating properly.

anyone know about this new leather case?

another satifactory red leather apple case owner here...

thanks for the recommendation about leather care...i gave it a couple of layers of my Nikwik leather waterproofing .
the color and texture stayed the same.
looks great so far.

I am doing a similar experiment! After much deliberation, I bought the red case last weekend, and applied several coats of leather protector spray. I hope it works! So far so good.

How long have you had your case?

The 30 pin to lightning cable adapter will only fit if you buy the one with the 0.2m extension. It is $39.00 vs. $29.00 for the small square one on the Apple store . The little square one will not fit. Also, I think the littler one could possibly put a lot of direct stress on the lightning port, whereas the extension cable adapter is more flexible and less prone to maybe breaking the port.

After 10 days of use...

My brown leather case now has a darker, more worn look to it. The edges are scuffed a nice dark brown. Some people may say it just looks "dirty." Nevertheless, I'm liking the look so far, and hope it becomes even darker.

Here are pics comparing the case 10 days ago vs today (the first pic, at the top left, is from 10 days ago. The rest are from today.)
