What does he/she think about the wear? I actually think this looks pretty good on the beige. Dang it, I think I am going to end up buying all the colors when it is all said and done! :apple:

He doesn't like it and regrets not getting the black case like I did. My black case was bought the same day and still looks great. When he lays it down on the conference room table, it looks dirty and dingy from a distance. He would return it if he could.

Do a lot of people have the problem that the leather tears when the iPhone is dropped or the case is taken off and put on again?
If so, that would be a shame... :(

My leather is tearing on the INSIDE of the case... If I took it to Apple, do you think they would replace it for me?

I don't think this is normal wear and tear seeing as the abrasion is occurring by the headphone port on the inside of the case.

As long as you have your receipt they should exchange it for you,

I bought a yellow case and a white 5S for wife's birthday, it's still wrapped. I had read Anandtech's review of the case and they did mention the wear. But after reading all these comments I think I'm going to return it unopened. She knows how to abuse a phone! I could probably get by with one, but I think she'd be one of the people that destroy it in 2 weeks.

Should have just gone with the otterbox I picked up first. But the thought of white and yellow was just too appealing

Why didn't they offer a white model?!?!? Probably WAYYY to dirty?

Hi, here is the link to how I'm going to handle the tan leather getting dirty, really it's just the oil from your skin, so I'm going to accelerate this process, by oiling the leather. Can't wait to do this on the Mini Smartcase.

Has anyone tried this yet on a leather case? Even though I use my phone naked I love patina on leather items. I've been tempted with handmade leather cases before but they just weren't crafted for a perfect fit like this apple one would be.

I've used leather honey and beeswax on mine and it didn't darken it up at all. My edges are darkening up nicely though, I think, just with normal usage. It is taking time, but I like the results so far. Suits my personal tastes. And I too normally use my phone naked and sometimes use the leather wallet sleeve I make and sell on Etsy (here), but I just love the way this case feels so much that I hardly take it off.

That looks great. Do you think it would darken a bit with leather oil (I'm unfamiliar with leather honey)?

If that is what everyone is complaining about i like it.

Leather Honey is a type of leather oil, so no, I don't think so. I'm not sure there is anything out there other than leather dye that will darken it up, other than just patiently using it and letting it darken naturally with use.

Same here. Not sure what all the fuss is about, other than just wanting things to stay as new looking as possible, which to me is just a personal taste thing. I like the gadget itself to stay as flawless as possible, but the accessory can show wear and it doesn't bother me. Especially leather. I purposefully bought the brown case HOPING it would darken because I don't like the shade of brown it is new. To each their own though, for sure.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking the same thing. The brown color out of the box is a little light for my tastes. Ideally, I would like the whole case to be darker like how your edges are now and the edges to get even darker. But I do like how it is looking from your pictures. Will check it out in store soon and hopefully they have a demo I could feel in hand. I always have an issue with cases since I buy them and use them for a while and end up taking them off. Just prefer the slimness of a naked phone. Haven't used any cases since the 4s but really tempted again.

Well, the worn look is better suited for the brown case.
The red case looked awful to me after a few weeks, it looked like someone outlined the edges with a sharpie.
The Black one I swapped it out for looks amazing and I couldn't be happier even though I wanted a red one.

Black on black. 2 weeks of usage - as new..

Can someone help clarify wear and tear on this case?

I have barely used mine. Only sits on my desk and most wear and tear was maybe 60mins worth of holding it while talking calls.

I pull the case off from the bottom of the phone and the leather is literally flaking off by the grip on my hand. If i were to dig my thumb in it with any force at all it would remove the leather.

Is this normal??

Leather does wear, but the flaking off does not sound normal.
