Aaand now it broke at the headphone port. Ugh. Lots of weeks of wear and breaking it in and now the phone corner at the headphone port won't stay in and keeps popping out. Anyone know if this is a warranty issue and can be swapped? Or did I just spend $40 for a 2 month case... Loved how the brown was breaking in. Would suck to start over.

As a followup to my post earlier, I went to the Apple Store today, 2 months after I purchased the brown one that broke, and yes, they replaced it under warranty. Although I liked the brown one a lot, I chose to swap the broken one for a black one since they didn't mind me changing colors for a new one. Now it matches my black iPad Air Smart Case. I guess that makes me all matchy, and that's okay!

I bought my Apple red case from CPW in UK and like everyone's, it's dirty, not worn or ageing, it's dirty. I'd like a replacement also but I think it'll be easier from Apple than CPW. I thought (RED) products were on,y sold in Apple stores and Apple online but seen the (RED) case in CPW.

Can Apple tell where I bought it if I just say don't have the receipt and my wife bought it cash?
No emailed receipt I mean? Would they exchange? Are they still giving replacements for it when it's dirty?

Thanks

They only replace it if you have proof you bought it there.

This is not true. They will replace without proof of purchase. I know this for a fact since I have done this for both my bumper on my 4S and the leather case once already.

What did you say then please? Did you buy your leather case from elsewhere? Where?

Thanks

If it is a warranty issue then it only makes sense that Apple would swap it out considering they are the ones that made it, regardless of where it was purchased. If you purchase your iPhone from AT&T do you think Apple would deny doing a warranty exchange or repair? Of course not. Also, I was told the other day at my local Apple Store that the warranty on these cases is a year.

My beige is going back. A short drop onto a wood floor left an indelible mark. And I've been going to lengths to keep the case stain-free, which is a mental burden I can do without.

Post your reciept to prove it
Oh I bet you don't have it ....

I bought mine from the Best Buy when they first came out and the bottom around the headphone jack broke. It was way past the return policy at BestBuy so I called Apple. They are replacing mine with no reciept or anything. All they asked me for was my Apple ID for verification.

They did do a $39.99 hold on my card until I ship the old one back

Got mine in beige today for my white iPhone 5 32GB! Price of $39 is kinda steep but I really love the fit of the case

I bought the black case for my black iPhone 5, with the knowledge that I'll be getting the white 5s in February. It'll look great on the white 5s, and in the mean time it looks great on the black 5. Fits great, feels great, best case I've ever owned.

Been using my black case since day one. Leather hasn't torn or no signs of abuse. However, the headphone port is broken. The leather hasn't torn yet, but you can clearly see it's broken. I guess I'll be getting it replaced by apple.

Took about less than a month but my PRODUCT (RED) is showing bad signs of wear around the edges. I baby the device so it's just normal use that's causing the Aniline leather to wear away. I have put lexol on and kept the case clean. What a shame because I love the way it looks. If the case would have at least lasted 5 or 6 months without looking like poo then I would consider getting another one.

How prone is the soft leather to scratching by laying it on a table?

Not prone at all. I've had my black one for 10 weeks and it doesn't have a scratch on it. I don't sling it around, but I don't baby it either. It seems to hold up to scratches/abrasions pretty well, especially considering how soft it is to the touch.

Agreed. Although I did drop mine onto concrete the other day going into work and it made a little scratch. Looking at it now I can barely see it, it's almost like it the scratch has worn back into the leather.

I keep reading how the headphone port is broken on a lot of cases. How are you guys taking the case off? I always take it off from the top first and never had any issues with rips.

Exactly like you are. I have probably taken it off 10x over the couple months I've had it with no issues at all.

You know it has a short life when they put a disclosure on the back of the packaging that says "this product will change in appearance as you use it". That being said, I love the fit and look of it. No third party case has matched this type of fit, and honestly i don't know why.

Agreed, it's not beyond a company to copy these cases properly and use a tougher material maybe perhaps more colours and then overnight have one of the most popular cases in the world for the iPhone.

I hope someone does. I would buy a red and a blue!

I bought the brown case (close to the leather color) when it first came out, but it is very close to ripping too. It is not made of the true leather.
