Who's got brown and what's your take on it after a month of use? After picking up a gold iPhone I am leaning towards picking the only case for it but it's worrisome that it wears out quickly especially considering the outrageous marked up price.

I bought a red case also (for Project Red) at Best Buy. I would keep it in my sunglass bag (made of microfiber) and the case turned black in about 2 weeks. I tried to clean it and the color started coming off.

I went to Apple instead of Best Buy. I did not provide a receipt and they exchanged it for a black one. Its a shame because I really want the red one.

When I take the case off, I always start from the bottom. So far, so good.

I'm scared to look at the case closely for fear that I'll find a flaw.

I returned mine and got store credit. Wasn't holding up. I dropped the phone and the case popped right off, and it was just a short little drop. I'll stick to my spiforce and ballistic cases.

Ouch sorry to hear that mate how's that possible if the phone locks inside the case pretty well or so I heard?

When new, sure. But as it wears it becomes less stiff. It looked great but just didn't provide the level of protection I'd hoped.

Just put a new one on, phone feels light and comfortable in the hand. When I was at the store some bloke behind me showed me his brown case after a month or two use, it looked absolutely horrendous, black around edges due to every day wear. Almost made me think twice about choosing that color. Will give it a go myself and see how it holds up.

I just received my replacement black one. The brown one I had broke at the headphone jack so I ordered a replacement.

I have the silver iPhone, so the black definitely doesn't look as good as the brown did, but it still looks good and now at least won't show aging as bad

The black is the only one that lasts and stays as it should...

Well, kinda. The black wears just as bad as the others but you can't really tell unless you really look close with it up against light. It's just hard to notice and it still looks good.

Daily use? Wow, do you wear rubber gloves? Mine was black after a week.

Haha! Hardly. I sprayed it with a leather protector on Day 1 (posted a link a couple pages back).

I had a couple moments when I thought for sure I had ruined it... one was when I set it down in olive oil while cooking, and the other was when a pen in my purse marked on it. But it just rubbed off... it's like the oil and ink were sitting on top of the protector instead of soaking in to the leather

ETA: here's the link, in case you don't want to go hunting for it. Long thread, after all. ;)

For the money we paid, Apple should have used that protector. I love the red. Maybe I'll have to re-buy it and use that spray. Black is boring.

These are great cases with the unfortunate feature that they’re as susceptible to wear and damage as the phone they are protecting.

I know what you mean! I keep thinking it would only have cost Apple pennies to treat a batch of cases, and it would have saved them a ton in returns alone.

Looking at your pic, the bottom left is looking like its going dark. Post a pic of the sides please.

Here are the other shots from that set. I guess I can see what you mean when you look at the "bottom" picture, the worn spot? Is that what you were talking about? The bright outdoor light makes it more noticeable, but I normally don't even see it.

I just took a pic of the other side.... Doesn't match the rest of the above set, but I can take another when the sun is out again if that would be helpful.

Did you spray it only once (day 1) or is this a repeating task (daily? weekly?)

Might pick up the red too if it holds up that well with only a treatment of kiwi :)

Quick question for those of you who have returned theirs following a failure at the headphone hole..

Has the case split through the leather? I have noticed mine has broke under the leather at the thin bit on the edge of the headphone hole but has not damaged the leather.

Mine is the product[red] one and is manky like most. I would love to get it replaced and treat a new one as some other members have suggested.

I did two coats on the first day (per the directions), letting it dry in between (just takes a couple minutes to dry). My original plan was to spray maybe twice a year, since that is what I was reading people do when they use protector on handbags... but after the olive oil incident (about a month in) I did spray one more time, because I wondered if the oil would have taken off any of the protector. It may not have, but it wasn't a big deal to me to apply one more coat just in case.

You barely make a dent in the contents of the bottle, since a phone case is such a tiny object, so you have a ton left in case you want to respray.

I am finally getting the black case for christmas! :)
Are there things I should think about?
Like how to put it on or common flaws?

No, that is fine. While I do notice some slight wear, the case still looks fantastic compared to others I have seen over the same time frame. I got my wife a red leather case too and Im keeping an eye on that one as well.

BTW, I agree, your hands look perfect. You should be a hand model.
