I just mock ran through the order process and when Id got to the end it said that it'd be 3-7days delivery time. Is this usual???

Macbook order

no, i ordered mine yesterday morning and it shipped the same day. I really hope apple lets me exchange it for a new one... or that they send me a new one, which is doubtful seeing as its already shipped.

damn it!!!!

ordered my macbook on sunday...... expected shipping date 15th november if a new mac book comes out before i recieve mine will apple ship me a new version? or can i cancel my order and buy the new one?

I'm thinking that the worst case scenario here is that they'll charge you the shipping if you want to exchange it... I don't see why they wouldn't let you swap it though.

i just spoke to the guy/machine on the apple website, this is what it said.

* You are chatting with Paddy, an Apple Expert

*

Hi, my name is Paddy. Welcome to Apple!
*

Paddy: Good morning
*

You: hi
*

Paddy: How can I help you?
*

You: ive just ordered a macbook but ive heard theres a new one coming out very soon
*

You: will it be possible to exchange the old one for the new one?
*

Paddy: Nothing has been announced by Apple
*

Paddy: So I could not say.
*

Paddy: The macbook was just ugraded in May of this year.
*

You: theoretically if it does happen, could i exchange it?
*

Paddy: If it wa spurchased within 14 days of a new release then yes
*

Paddy: Other than that no
*

You: ok cheers

Just gotta hope the new version comes out in the next 2 weeks, or i could just return it and wait. bit of a pain though, especially if i have to pay postage

I was thinking though...if there's going to be a big update to the Macbooks wouldn't they have a massive launch presentation like they did for the new iMac?

Thats why I have a feeling its only going to be a small update (SR) :(
I'm hoping for a slightly slimmer design though.

I am thinking the same thing....I don't think we will get a new shell this time around. Maybe in may....

If it's a new form factor i would've thought so, we all know how SJ just loves to show off his amazing machines :D

If it was just a update to newer processers or other internal bits and bobs, they could just update without an media event

The next MacBook update will most-likely be an update to the Santa Rosa platform. If that is, indeed, the case, it would not warrant a special event.

yes BUT.....apparently the macbook when it was first introduced DIDNT have a big presentation / keynote thing....maybe the macbook pro did...but i did a search and it didnt seem to. and a few others have said it didnt....so theres still hope for a redesign without there being a big event....they couldnt update it now and then AGAIN in january....theyd have to change the design soon as its the best selling mac product and the only white one also

Aluminum cases this time around, no it doesn't make sense. Eventually they'll be alu (it indeed seems the entire productline is going that way...) but just not right now. Like everyone else mentioned before it's a too big thing to update without any additional notices...

A thing I've never understood is why you'd want to have the middle model of the MB series. A Superdrive is all I can think of really... Not those 160Mhz which aren't gonna make anything noticeably faster or better. Let alone the 40GB bigger HDD which comes at a ridiculous (reading with me here apple?) extra charge, no wonder people are getting their own HDD's and build them in. So If the lowest models of the "new" MB's would come with a Superdrive you'd be a fool getting the middle model. That's at least how I think about it...

If the new macbooks come with the SR platform, which features an 800Mhz FSB as I read here earlier, you could put in 800Mhz RAM right? Then why is it that the MBP's which already have the 800Mhz FSB are still being sold with 667 RAM?

I think the macbook has the best design of all the apple notebooks. Why would anyone want it to look like that old crappy aluminum powerbook. ITS OLD. Lik 5yrs old. Yikes.

The macbook is the evolution of all of apples laptop line. It will not change. If anything the macbook pros will start to look like the macbook. Or at least they should.

well since august there has been a LOT of info going around....its just slowed down a lot the last few weeks....to be honest what more information could be released?

I just tried placing a MacBook mock order as well and it lists shipping either today or tomorrow and delivery within 3-7 days. Remember not to confuse the two. I have read elsewhere that the shipping date may extend out right before a new release, or it may simply happen contemporaneously with the announcement.

ideally, i would wait till mid november

i'm not buying today or anything....
