I feel that they will not release it before 13th.
A lot of people are buying MB after Leopard day. They dont want a line of people coming in for the exchange. They just want new customers. So they will shrewdly add a week to the 14 day period from Leopard launch, and then release it.

Please don't forget, Apple is in this to make profits. They don't want the old stock coming back. And yes, not everyone reads these forums. There are many out there who buy laptops without these forums.
Yep I also think it might be later!

Didn't stop Apple from releasing new machines a few days after Tiger.
from your mouth to steves ear!!!!!

My guess is, they won't make that mistake again. I'm sure they sold a boatload of MBs last weekend, with the new OS release. Imagine what a hassle it would be to process all of those returns. Not to mention, having to discount them for resale, undercutting sales of your new model.

It's still possible they'll come out with the new MB on November 6, but I'd bet it's the 13th. Anyway, that's what I'd do, if I were in Jobs's shoes, and not in mine (where I wish they'd released it two weeks ago).

Best of both?

Thanks guys.
I think I'll wait till the new one does actually come out. I don't think a tricky refund is worth £85 off an ipod. I'm gonna buy a classic from the shop tomorrow instead. Oh well!

;)

And then there are people like me. I read the forums and was so sure the MB would be released today I put my ibook on ebay and it sold this morning. I'm not sure I can get by for a week without a laptop. Oh well, the mid level macbook would be such a step up from my ibook it wouldn't be the end of the world. I would buy a MBP but it's so much bigger than the MB

I ordered a MB on Sunday, and it arrived today. Reading this lot though, I'll keep it in the box and return it...

There have been so many MB rumors around the last months. But every single one have been wrong.

I want upgraded macbook:(

@ BB Mac- yeah, best to wait and buy the better MacBook as opposed to saving some cash with your bundled proposal, but add the hassle of the exchange process.

So are we going to see just the upgrades, or a complete redesign? Rumors tend to be leaning towards a final upgrade, and perhaps a redesign in '08.

Remember what they did with the final revision of the PowerBook in Nov. '05? They came out with the MacBook Pro that next January! I'm sure there were a lot of people who were pissed. So it makes me wonder... if we just see a slight bump to trigger increased holiday sales, is it best to wait until the new year and hope for a complete redesign?

I'm so lost here....

I just got the new slim aluminum MacBook, it's sweet!

Safari is blazing on this thing.

frustrated

honestly this is very frustrating i really want to get my first mac and my PC is starting to die. i just dont know what to do any more i may just buy another PC

Yeah right.

Nice job trying to start some MacBook drama. I don't buy it.

I really doubt there will be new MacBooks anytime in the next week. I am guessing Nov. 13th.

Just in time for everyone who bought one this weekend to not be able to exchange it and just in time for every spoiled kid to get one for christmas.

Remember when Steve Jobs said "We want iPhones to be stocking stuffers"?
I bet some kids get an iPhone in their stocking and a new MB under the tree. That is ridiculous...

It'd be a d**k move but it makes sense. Unload all the old Macbooks you can with the Leopard switchers between the 26th and 12th (hell if you can sell 2 million copies in a weekend, i'm sure some of them were computer sales). That way your stock is depleted when you do a new release.

Thats prob. the most likeliest thing. Thats right I said most likeliest. SR, Speedbump, GFX bump, Superdrive and maybe LED and HD bump. Then a brand new one in May '08 which would be exactly 2 yrs after first Macbook, so that's about right.

It's also 2 years after I started wanting a macbook. STILL haven't bought one. But that will likely change come November. In fact, its most likeliest. :apple:

If your current PC does die, then either buy another PC or buy one of the current macbooks, your choice.

I've been waiting months to buy santa rosa macminis and/or macbooks, but I have no immediate need. If you have an immediate need, I recommend an immediate purchase.

--------

I'm not sure what to make of the timing for santa rosa macbooks. Many were saying today, but we never got the hints we usually get.

Some are saying tomorrow because that's when a free-ipod deal ends. (Nevermind that I thought it ended September 16.) I guess this is possible as Apple in the past has released new hardware immediately after the end of a free-ipod deal. I'm not sure I understand the logic of it, though. If the updated models have about the same profit margin, then why would it matter whether the free-ipod-deal buyers purchased a newer or older model? (I guess they could expect a push of free-ipod-deal buyers today, and use that to move inventory of the older model.) Plus, we still haven't got the hints we usually get.

When Multimedia was here he was pretty emphatic about the November 6 date, but the reasons he gave weren't very persuasive. It made me wonder if he knew something but wasn't allowed to say why. Nah.

This is Apples cruel game. Let the rumor mill grind away for a few weeks, get some free press and then release it. It's not coming out today or next week. I predict it will be the day after I decide I can't do without a laptop any longer and pony up the $$$ for a current model.

I'll be sure to post the day that happens so you can all get ready to scurry on up to your local Apple store and get one of the new ones, while I languish in buyers remorse.

What's the deal?

honestly this is very frustrating i really want to get my first mac and my PC is starting to die. i just dont know what to do any more i may just buy another PC

I just got a new imac about 6 weeks ago. So I am totally new to mac and it's communities. It seems like you could really go crazy trying to make sure you have the latest update at all times. If my PC was going to die, and I would have to buy a new one, why wouldn't I buy a macbook now if thats what I wanted and needed. Because right after this macbook is released, if it's not aluminum or ultra slim, there will be speculation surrounding that update. And the next and the next...
I need a small laptop with great battery life. I really like my imac so I'm going to go to the store tonight or tomorrow and grab a new macbook. If you spend your whole life waiting, you never get the joy of owning.
