Don't feel bad Jen L. I didn't make it to the grand opening either. Sadly I haven't been there yet. ;)

Annapolis to open August 27th

Apple has officially announced the opening of the new Annapolis store in Annapolis, Maryland on August 27th at 10:00 am. This is the seventh store in the Washington/Baltimore metro area.

Sony store

Apple is going to have some competition in the Roosevelt Field Mall in NY. Sony is going to open a sony store on the first floor of the mall (apple is on the second floor, on the same side) Do you think this will hurt sales of ipods and computers of the store.

yeah sony is also opening up a store at The Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio where Apple is set to open up a store. As far as it hurting iPod and computer sales... i know some people working at the new store so we'll just see.

What I find interesting/disappointing is this: USA is littered with Apple Stores. "Neverheard" place in USA have Apple Store (Corte Madera? WTF is that??). But places like Berlin have no Apple Store. What about Paris? Rome? Frankfurt? Lyon? Brussels? Munchen?

OKC Apple Store Opening date

I talked to a Mall rep for Penn Square Mall where the OKC store is going and they are opening on Steptember 24th according to the mall cause they are having to have to make sure they have enough security and staff in place on the malls stand point... I just cant wait for it to open.

Well, Apple IS an American company, and they've only been doing the retail store thing for a few years. There are tons of European stores that I'm dying to see in the States. There are a few in New York, LA, and San Francisco. Not that I'd want to trade my Apple store for anything :).

I was going to start a new thread to ask this, then I found this thread, and it is a rather lengthy thread so forgive me if this has already been answered, but...

Does anyone know how much it costs to open your own Apple store?

It is definitely not something I could even dream of affording now, I'm sure, but I know a few people that might... *might* be interested and I'd sure love to push them along in that direction. :D

Apple owns each of the current Apple Stores. Otherwise you are talking about 3rd party stores like CompUSA.

If they have the business sense, knowledge, good location, and money; then they should definitely investigate the idea. Good luck.

Damn, didn't know Apple owned all of the stores. I need to write them a letter. :D

Thanks for the info!

There are now individual job openings for the upcoming Sendai store in Northern Japan. This means a likely opening early next year. I almost wanted to keel over and choke when I read the latest entry (9-10-05) on ifo this morning. Gary makes a point, any chance of an Apple store coming to the New Orleans area has been wiped.

Baton Rouge seems like our last hope, but I;m an hour away from there.

You and Gary are probably right, but I think it would be a great idea for Apple to be in the lead of the effort to rebuild New Orleans with a commitment to a new store there. What do you think? How about writing an e-mail to Apple letting them know you think it would be a good idea?

Sorry about NOLA Daveway. :(

I've been away from Philly for a bit and didn't know the Borders had closed (but it was kinda overshadowed by Barnes & Noble down the block). In any case Rittenhouse Square is a quite ritzy area and would be a cool choice for an Apple store. If I move back, I'd definitely prefer it to going to King of Prussia!

Ack, they seem to be putting stores at an equal radius around Boston, and two south of the city. I don't know who is selling them where to put stores but they apparently don't have interests in the Metro West where the most growth is and access from RI, NH, CT, and VT. They should be looking to somewhere in the Golden Triangle or even Solomon Pond.

At least the Apple Store that I go to is always busy. Often have to wait days for an appointment with a Genius. So they are putting them where needed. With the two additional as Sayhey mentioned it should help. What I'm waiting for is a Flag Ship Store in downtown Boston Back Bay are possible.

I heard some senior execs from Apple Japan were in Australia a week and a half or so ago - could this mean an Apple store in Oz, or iTMS (not sure if Japan is responsible for AsiaPac though?)

San Antonio store

The long anticipated Sept. 16th opening of the La Cantera store in San Antonio, Texas has been confirmed, as expected, on that date at 10:00 am. This is the sixth store in Texas and the first in the San Antonio area.

Apple had offices and a showroom in the Financial District. There used to be a business called Apple Town downtown (and in NH) but they shut down a few years ago. Now with CompUSA, Micro Center, BU Bookstore, Hunt's Photo, the Apple stores in Chestnut Hill and at Lechmere plus several other businesses I'd be surprised to see a big free standing store open downtown. Hours are short (there is just no business after 6pm), no parking (ever), property is at a premium. Maybe on Newbury or Boylston but those are really not great choices either.

Hey, not that I wouldn't love it.

Apple has announced the grand opening of three stores on September 24th. They are the Florida Mall store in Orlando, Florida; The South Hills Village store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and the Penn Square Mall store in Oklahoma City. The Penn Square store represents the first store in Oklahoma City and in the State; the Orlando and Pittsburgh stores are both the second stores in both cities.

These stores will bring the total of retail locations to 124; one short of Apple's goal of 125 by September 30th.

If they handle funding, I'd be kind enough to take on management at 1 more store. :D
