Zurich / Zuerich Switzerland Store

Dataquest AG announced today that the Apple Center in Zurich will be opened by them (Dataquest) at the location of the former Pizza Hut. The initial rumours regarding the location were correct, but it is not an "Apple Store".

Latest list of U.S. metro areas w/o a store?

I suspect that Birmingham, AL has moved up a few notches given the activity elsewhere. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever get one here.

The Aventura, Florida, store opened in January 2004. It seems to be a busy location to me, but it has been around for quite a while now. 20 months.

An Orlando store was recently opened.

I'm still waiting to see one in Albuquerque, NM. The nearest Apple Store is in, I belive, Denver, which is a good 7 hour drive!

Which one? The Millenia mall has been open for a few years now. Did a second open? I remember hearing about one on Colonial drive at the Fashion Square mall possibly opening. Is that the one?

Florida Mall is the very new Orlando location.

This from Gary over at ifoAppleStore.

Count on a Nov. 5th grand opening for the Gateway (Utah) retail store.

btw, it sure looks like Apple is going to blow its forecast of 125 stores by the end of the fiscal year. They're presently stuck on 124 with one day to go. Perhaps this is because of the current legal and planning mess with both the Flatiron (NYC) and Lincoln Road (Miami Beach) stores. The goal of 10 international stores by the same date was clearly unattainable months ago.

Of note, also over at ifoAppleStore, is the posting concerning an upcoming landmarks commission discussion for a new two level store in Portland, Oregon. This would be the fourth store in the Portland metro area and the second in Portland proper.

Apple's presentation before the Portland (Ore.) Historic Landmarks Commission for a new retail store has been re-scheduled to Oct. 10th. The appearance is part of the city's land use review, which includes consideration of the design by the local neighborhood association and the Commission before permits are granted by the city. In this case, the existing building is not considered historic, but the proposed design must be compatible with the neighborhood (pdf). In this case, the Northwest District Association is very concerned about the limited parking for new retail stores. The area around 23rd and W. Burnside St. is a popular shopping district for residents from the entire city.

Irvine Spectrum Center, Irvine, CA. -- Apple is currently neg. on the lease of this 880,000 square feet outdoor mall.

Regent Street, London, England -- sometime in 2004.

Osaka, Japan -- 2004 will feature the spiral glass staircase.

The North Point, Alpharetta, GA store opens tomorrow. They will be giving away 1,000 t-shirts and free demos of classes they will be giving.

Most of those are already opened aren't they? Carousel Center in NY is the one I go to all the time.

What about Vancouver? Such a beautiful city deserves at least one gleaming Apple store. There's definitely a market, but uprooting all those entrenched Apple resellers might be what's holding them back.

But they charge too much, so an Apple store would be perfect. Right now I have subpar places to go to play with new toys :).

Didn't seem to affect Apple's THREE stores in Portland. (Hey, Seattle's only a couple hour drive South for you. But then you have to deal with the lovely cross-border tax issues if you buy something expensive.)

Unfortunately, all of Portland's Apple Stores are the small mall-types. No big store.

Check out my post above (#909.) If the City's commission approves next month, there will be a two-floor store in Portland's future.

Now for my dream of Apple being in negotiations for some prime property here in Boston. A Flag Ship Store would certainly be nice.

Put one in Princeton

Come on Apple, we should have got one in Princeton ages ago! It's full of filthy rich (not me! :p) people and academics, two core markets for you! It needs to be on Nassau RIGHT across from the university so college students FLOCK to it. It needs to be big, maybe not 2-story, but wide format at least, to accomodate the large croud it will attract. Please!?

P.S. Oh, and don't even think about putting one in one of those malls on the outskirts near West Windsor, it will become a destination rather than a hangout, which will attract a LOT less traffic.

Yeah, my dad just told me about this store today. I didn't even know it was coming. He has not visited yet so he could not tell me anything more about it. Anyone here visited the Florida Mall store yet? I hope it's a little bigger than the one at Millenia Mall . . .

As of a couple of weeks ago the construction was moving along, but still no Apple logo up on the building or anything. I'll try and drive by on my way home from work today, maybe take a picture.

I know all about Sayhey's Apple Store obsession. ;) But aranhamo lives in Salt Lake, so that's my main source of information as far as actual construction goes. ;)

But dang. If it opens in November there's no way I'll be able to make it to the Opening.

Oh well, thanks for the updates anyway guys! :D

Salt Lake City

I went by yesterday, but I forgot to bring my camera. Still no Apple logo anywhere that I can see. It's a two-story addition right across from the Olympic Legacy Plaza (or whatever they call the area with the fountain in it). I'm guessing the Apple Store will go into the second floor, which is a fairly large space with a domed roof. It looks like there'll be space on the second floor for three stores (with the domed one in the middle). The first floor is harder to see because the construction fence is up, but it looks like there will be three stores downstairs as well. None of them have any front facade on them yet, just back and side walls. I went around the otherside to see if the Apple Store might open to the street there as well; it looks like the northern-most store on the first floor might have an entrance on that street as well as inside the mall. They've also broken ground on the rest of the space to the north of the new addition (it used to be all asphalt, but yesterday it was all dirt), in front of the aquarium.

The outside of the new addition, at least on the back and sides, looks like it's completely finished. You can tell that most of the work is going on inside the building now. The sign still says that the addition is opening Fall 2005.

Obsession? What obsession? You mean all these charts and graphs on how Apple stores will take over the world? It's all harmless fun ... he he, ha ha!
;)

Seriously, aranhamo's posts are my main source of information on the SLC store's progress. Keep up the good work aranhamo. Now where are those secret plans for world domination ...

Southlake store confirmed

The long rumored store in SouthLake Town Square in Southlake, Texas is now part of Apple's listings on its Search Jobs webpage. It is listed in Fort Worth, but a quick search seems to put it in nearby Southlake - close to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. This is clearly a opening scheduled for next year, and would be Apple's fourth store in the metro area.

Also of interest is a new listing over at monster.com which has a posting for a retail management position in "central New Jersey" - there are no stores in central New Jersey. Monster is not always credible in its geographic listings, but it does make one wonder whether Steve Jobs read 922's post above and decided Princeton is just the place!?

puckhead, just wanted to let you know that all evil genius types who are bent on world domination keep in constant contact. Stewie, The Brain, Dr. Evil, Dr. Doom, myself, etc. always talk. If we don't the competition of henchmen gets far too fierce. :)

Anyone have photos of Apple Store The Falls in Miami?

Sorry, I meant to respond earlier, but got diverted by my evil plans.
;)

Every store's webpage has a picture of the store on it. Here is the one for The Falls. There is also a link over at ifoAppleStore to a Florida Mac Users Group story and pictures of The Falls' opening.
