Apple's finally updated their retail web page to include this weekend's grand opening of the Burlington, Massachusetts store. No indication of an opening in Salt Lake. It looks like ifoAppleStore got it wrong on that one. I'll remove that rumored opening from the list of upcoming stores.

Any ideas what is going on with the Northpark (Dallas) store? All of a sudden, ifoAppleStore is reporting today that the opening has been delayed for 3 months.

Kinda makes me sad. It would have been fun to go to my first grand opening ever this weekend. But it's probably for the best, since I have a project I need to work on for school this weekend.

Burlington

Well, i guess it's all official now since the opening was this morning. Very nice store -- not as big as some of the others around Boston, but I can't beat the convenience of only having to drive about 6 miles :D

And, yes, i was one of the first ones -- got there at 8:20ish or so, and was able to get a pretty nice spot in the line. The store actually opened at 9:50 -- a nice surprise.

I wished I had something I needed to buy, but at least I got a T-Shirt. My wife was able to get a shirt as well when she went buy around 11:30 or so (I think they kept one aside for her -- she arranged to have flowers sent over from her shop :p )

BTW -- when did Apple start locking down Terminal.app on the demo machines? I distinctly remember at one point being able to run the Terminal at an Apple store, but today I found that they had protected it by putting it inside a password protected sitx file... weird.

I was infront of Aldo as well -- i was at the very edge of the store before you got to Filenes. I didn't actually take my place in the line for a few minutes -- but, since nobody seemed to arrive for 15-20 minutes, it wasn't a big deal :)

New Canadian Store!!!

Apple's "Search Jobs" web page has a new Toronto location. The new listing is for "Toronto - Eaton Centre," a site long conjectured to be the next Canadian Apple store. Well, it's official now! :D

Closer to Braintree than Milton, but further from Boston than either of those and also closer to the shore. I agree it's a bit of an odd location for an Apple store.

Good luck with the shirt. ;)

Sorry, no word on a Tulsa or any other second location in Oklahoma. The good news is that, IIRC, Gary's source on the Oklahoma City store is also his source for a Tulsa location. Since Oklahoma City turned out to be true, it is hoped Tulsa can't be too far behind.

No problem, iphil, but unfortunately I have zero pull with Apple. Just an avid watcher of Apple. btw, welcome to California. My father's family made the same journey when the word "Okie" was used in a derogatory way from Californians toward dust bowl refugees. I think you will find Californians much more welcoming these days.

Salt Lake store to open within two weeks?

While this doesn't come as news to anyone who has been reading aranhamo's quality reports on the store's progress, the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that the new store in the Gateway mall will open within two weeks.
Gateway mall confirms juicy Apple rumor
iDrama: The savvy computer maker plans its secret Salt Lake debut within two weeks
By Lesley Mitchell
The Salt Lake Tribune

In a move that showcases the state's growing popularity as a site for retail expansion, Apple Computer plans to open within the next two weeks its first Utah store in downtown Salt Lake City's Gateway shopping center.
Apple, which is counting on a dramatic grand opening, is not responding to any questions about the new store, which will carry computer hardware, software and related products such as iPods. But Gateway mall employees confirm the store, hidden behind tarp and wood barriers, will open sometime before the end of the month. Several of the company's most avid fans believe opening day in Utah will be Nov. 25 - the day after Thanksgiving....
