It's not a sign, as it never said July on that page. See my last post.

He said it did, you say it didn't... Ahh, the internet. Everyone's always right, even when wrong. haha :D

In any case, has anyone called an Apple store? I'll give Oak Brook, IL a call now and see if they have them in.

Right you are. My bad.

Seems a lot of companies that early on promised products for Thunderbolt are having a hard time shipping much. I'm thinking of audio interfaces, docking stations and such. Maybe it's related to that second wave of cheaper chipsets that's been mentioned.

From the Oak Brook store...

"No, we do not have them in stock, it hasn't been released yet. We would have had it at the start of the day if it were to be sold today."

Online ordering is still possible I suppose, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm sure the Ethernet adapter uses the cheaper chipset, as it is also just $29.

Just got off the phone with apple sales. They can't find anything about the thunderbolt to fw800 adapter aside from it being available at the end of July(in a bulletin posted in June). Which would be today. Maybe they are having issue's producing them :dunno:

Well, it's 2:30 PM in Cupertino. Does Apple ever release anything in the afternoon? I thought the S.O.P. was always to announce things first thing in the AM.

I hope that Tim Cook email wasn't a hoax. I've had a new rMBP since July 11, but it's just a fun toy until I can transfer my data over to it. (Somehow, I missed the "available in July" small print.)

The announcement of the TB to FW adapter was the final thing that let myself purchase the rMBP. I have a RME FF400 sitting at my house with a completely new performance coming up in a month and no ability to create/practice my set before the adapter comes out.

Starting to get worried.

USB2 sound interfaces seem to be having trouble with the mid12 USB3 ports, even if they weren't I don't have the funds to purchase one this month.

Just thought I would chime in since most of the talk has been about storage.

Same here, got a M-AUDIO Profire2626, nothing but firewire and optical I/O. Composing for a 6.1+ surround system sure is hard in stereo :p

This is just frustrating~!

Honestly, the second they made the thunderbolt Air...they didn't see a purpose to the adapter?
Or the Thunderbolt MBPs, since they previously dropped the expresscard in the 15", anyone needing RAID FW800 drives plus an audio interface got screwed.
I'd buy the fatbook, but I have a cinema display and nearly every adapter kills the thunderbolt chain. 1 TB port/no HDMI/stupid CD drive taking up space for extra ports/power = no sale.
I'd buy the Asus G75. Many of those were falsely represented as having thunderbolt (it's mini DP inexplicably labeled with a little lightning bolt). Thunderbolt enabled ones are supposed to ship "July" but I guess won't be available till Q4.
I'd buy an Elitebook, it has Firewire!
No thunderbolt.

Been dying to buy CS6...
But my next platform will be my last for the foreseeable future.

This tightlipped bullexcrement needs to stop.

The last time I checked, there were 31 days in July, not 26.

Wrong. Apparently this July has 90 days :D.

The "Available July" statement was also in the actual apple store on the iPads that show you the in-store models. It now says something shrouded in ambiguity: "Available late summer" or, "Soon... I dunno, go fiddlestick yourself."

I can't wait to see the "Mac Pro" "redesign" in "2013"...
December 254th.

Looking for one of these too. I was surprised to find that it was not on sale yet on the apple website!

I'm glad I have yet to sell my 2009 Unibody Macbook Pro . . . I needed to move some data around to rescue my Mac Pro's boot disk after a Mountain Lion install pronounced it unrepairable.

I guess I should hang on to it until they release the FW/TB adaptor, in case I need to do some Target Firewire work on my MP!

It's still on the website!

Just checked apple.com, and sure enough, on the RMBP tech specs page, it still shows the FireWire adapter as being available in July. http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/

And when I went to the Apple retail Store today, three of the "specialists" had no clue what I was talking about. WTF?

I keep checking that page in the fear that the text will quietly change to "August" or "September" or the "10th of Never." Maybe there's hope for us if it still says "July."

Well, in fairness to Apple retail staff, we're talking about an unreleased product that will only appeal to about 1/100th of 1 percent of Apple's customer base. I've never owned a non-Apple computer dating back to the '80s, and I've probably spent more time on Apple's "Cables" page this month than I have in the last 25 years added together.

At least it's something.

That page will not be updated. Just think about this:

http://store.apple.com/uk/configure/MD770B/A

About a year ago I sent Apple an email regarding the Mac Pro. The first mistake is an easy one, a typographical error on the Fibre Channel Card description: "SFP connectors on the card allow use of copper or optical cabling and provide the capability of ddirect connection to Fibre Channel storage or switches over long distances up to 500m."

Any company can make typos but Apple is a notoriously difficult company to give website feedback to.

The bigger issue was the false advertising of the Graphics Card as "Newest Radeon" but upon checking it now they simply say it's "5X faster than previous Mac Pro graphics. They must have changed it when they "updated" the Mac Pro.
