This ad went completely over my head.

Was it supposed to be funny? I think so, but I didn't get the joke. I presume these people are famous, as Apple have sadly succumbed to celebrities, which is the measure of last resort, but I don't know who they are.

As to Apple TV: I wish Apple would introduce a subscription service for movies and tv programmes. That would be far more enticing than a music subscription service.

Right, and who needs marketing? Customers will magically come and buy the products.

Well in Apples case.......yup customers tend to buy without even watching any of these ads.

Can't think of a single ad that convinced me to buy an apple product .
[doublepost=1460319709][/doublepost]Good ad. Good to see them using humour again, Cookie Monster is better though :)

I have no idea who these people are but I had to laugh at "the future of television" strap line. It's just another streaming box, but with a sub standard selection of streaming services (no Amazon... seriously?), poor app quality (YouTube, iPlayer, CrunchyRoll, Now TV...) and a tiny selection of mobile phone games ported to the worst gaming controller ever created.

I generally like Apple stuff but the ATV 4 is a total dud. The Roku blows it away where it counts - app selection and quality, 4K etc. Heck my PS4 is a far superior streaming box than my ATV 4.

As an MR regular, you are hardly the target audience. You already actively inform yourself about Apple's future products.

Roku is dead in the water, and ATV's app selection will only grow. Given the choice of making a new app, where do you think companies are going to go? Apple's platforms, where they can port between iOS and Apple TV with ease and even go to the Mac or the Apple Watch if they'd like, all four of which have related frameworks — or Roku, where they're developing within an island.

If they're lucky, Roku get acquired by someone.

The criticism of gaming has merit. They didn't get everything right with ATV 4.

Heck my PS4 is a far superior streaming box than my ATV 4.

Your PS4 also costs thrice as much.

Wow, first Apple rewards & endorses Dre, and now Bryant.
Boy I tried, but there's really no way to sugar coat the point...
...a woman beater and now an anal rapist. Who will they promote next, a serial killer?

Way to pick em, Apple. Women everywhere must be real impressed.

Agree. When I see Kobe that's the first thing I think of now. There's plenty of more deserving athletes.

The ad department has been out doing the products lately, congratulations to whoever is involved in making this and the cookie monster commercial.

Has there been a conviction I'm not aware of?
Can be people change?
etc. etc.
Jobs was a grade A ******* in the 1980s, including a deadbeat dad, so yep, people can change.

He wasn't a rapist. Huge difference between being a prick and... Well.

BTW, Kobe settled out of court in a civil case so if he's so innocent I wonder why he got out the wallet.

Apple has released a new television ad for the fourth-generation Apple TV called "Father Time" starring NBA superstar Kobe Bryant and actor Michael B. Jordan. It is the tenth ad for the new Apple TV since it launched in late October.

The one-minute spot centers upon Bryant and Jordan using the Apple TV and Siri Remote to open the NBA app, play a movie, and fast forward to a specific time in the movie. The ad uses the same trailer backdrop as the earlier "The Kiss" spot.

The underlying "Father Time" theme of the ad lightly pokes fun at how Bryant's all-star career with the Los Angeles Lakers, whom he will play the last game of his 20-year career for on Wednesday, is coming to an end.

The ad closes with the tagline "future of television" and colorful bars as seen throughout the rest of Apple's advertising campaign for the new Apple TV, including billboards in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Hollywood.

I would be happy if they just fixed the pathetic photo app particular using slideshow as it only shows about twenty then repeats the same ones out of 7k photos , also if repeat is switched off you only get about 7 photos then it crashes back to the main menu pity Spple don't listen to the many complaints on there forum , this has been goin on since its release

HAHAHA

Sorry, I just cannot agree with this. I've got both the PlayStation 4 and Apple TV 4. The PS4 is no competition to the ATV whatsoever. Yes, you can use Netflix and some other streaming services, and no they're not good at all. I tried Netflix on it (it's basically the only streaming service on that thing here in the Netherlands), and it just stutters. Has nothing to do with my network, as my Apple TV plays everything fluid.

PS4 is meant for gaming, it is nothing like the Apple TV. Just like how Apple TV is not meant for gaming. It does offer some nice games, but I use it mostly for watching movies, YouTube videos and podcasts, as well as listening to music. Gaming is more like a bonus in my honest opinion. And then again is streaming on the PS4 like some kind of a bonus. One that sucks though. :p

OT: Great ad! It's a pity we Dutchies don't get to see those incredible ads Apple has created in the past few months.

And everyone wonders why Apple has a problem with diversity in the workplace. Woman beaters and rapist work for them. I don't think they get the contradictory message they are sending hiring these types of people. Minorities still lag wayyyyy behind at Apple and they blocked a proposal at the last stock holders meeting. Apple does a lot of things right, but its still a boys club unwilling to change.

He settled out of court and made a statement regarding the incident :
Bryant did, however, issue the following statement through his attorney, as part of an agreement with the accuser to dismiss the sexual assault charge:

First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.

I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.

I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado

I guess if you're as basketball fan, this ad would be funny? I've no idea what I just watched, but I certainly didn't even smile.
I don't understand why you would have to be a basketball fan to find the humor in this ad. It's not like they were citing any rules of the game. Lol Maybe you just wanted to let folks know you don't like basketball? Mission accomplished! :)

Not true. Due to Apples secrecy the is no active way to inform yourself of future products.

My point is that when apple launches say a new iPhone, people buy . And they buy by the millions , these ads come way into a product release. So in the case of the Apple TV, most loyal fans upgraded as soon as it was released. So my point, that apple has a huge following, and these loyal fans buy the products as soon as they are released. They don't need markerting and ads to sell products, they have the best brand loyalty in the business. Took them a long time , but they have a massive following right now.
