And? You presented with ads you can relate to. It's the weak who buy stuff that pushed on them even when they don't need it. They can show me countless ads and still won't buy the **** if I don't need it.
There no sense of ownership with constant ad pushes. It feels like I’m renting someone else’s TV. I don’t like ads infesting my devices at the best of times but I really, really don’t want them on my TV set menu.

Oh, you think you can escape.

I demand Apple creates a pipeline for AAA video game ports to Apple TV. From mobile/ Mac to Apple TV. As Apple TV gets more powerful, it becomes a priority port. Of course, these are first steps towards a full fledged video game console I am eagerly anticipating.
AAA games’ processor and storage requirements and the similarities in footprint along with Apple’s habit of gouging customers for storage upgrades, a Mac mini would likely be a better option.

Is an AirTag necessary though? I think all it needs is a little beeping speaker to find it in the couch cushion, etc. It's not leaving the room, is it?
You underestimate the power of a toddler.

Ours went missing once - we tore the house apart for a week. Our 2 year old son at the time had tossed it in his huge box of Lego and it was buried.

Such a bad take 120hz is needed as you said its a streamer box, and as so GeForce Now, Boosteroid etc need 120hz mode to reduce latency for game streaming.

Just because you don’t game doesn’t mean it’s an irrelevant need.
Who says I don't game?
I mentioned my Xbox even in that post. I have a series X. And a gaming pc. I play video games plenty. What I don't do or what is to play video games on my Apple streaming device.

120hz does not benefit home theatre in the least. It's not a bad take it's an accurate take. The UHD standard goes nowhere near 120hz. It stops at 60. Apple TV already handles Dolby vision, any hdr format, atmos etc. it just needs as I said to support bitstream audio.

GeForce now is a really cool service that flies under the radar to say the least. But I don't think it's a focus for a streaming box. Why would it be.

We haven’t had a TV for a long time. . .

Whoa it's a time traveling hipster from 1998 lol

Yeah. People who stare at the TV/Tablet/Smartphone from morning till night, drooling, laugh collectively at the guy who doesn’t own a TV. The guy who’s actually doing something useful instead of consuming content created purely for making money rather than for art.

Meanwhile, their laughter echoes in the background like canned sitcom laughter, masking the fact that they’re quietly wasting the only life they have, hour by hour, day by day.

Dude you're on a macrumors forum. You're not fooling anyone.

Honestly just give me an option to disable the status indicator light — without using electrical tape — and I’d be happy.
You could use masking tape, duct tape, a happy face sticker… the possibilities are endless. 😂 /s

Surprised no one has pointed to several back-of-tv mounts available - hang it on the back of the TV and you'll never see the light again. The remote is bluetooth-based so no need for "line of sight" for it to work. I use the TotalMount for three of my Apple TVs - it hangs from the vents on back, or you could use the included double-sided tape. Works great!

I’ll upgrade all mine if it does not have that camera lens and the remote beeps and/or has a flashing light for FindMy. The visual iPhone proximity indicator is a step in the right direction but it doesn’t tell me exactly where it is. I often already know it’s in the sofa, just not sure which crack and proximity doesn’t work great for that

I say this because there are so many people adopting cloud gaming instead of local gaming. Currently Apple on all devices is avoiding these services like the plague. For 90% of the population the current 4K Apple TV is overkill, but I personally mix console / PC and Cloud Gaming depending on my location and devices available. Having my apple TV's have the full experience would be a really nice bonus for me and a lot of others and would be a reason to upgrade. Unless the new version is heads and tails over the current I see no real reason to upgrade.

The ATV has not had an HD for a wery long time , if ever, it''s been some kind of solid state device for a very long time. What do you mean "ability for apps" tvos has had the app store for ages, I must be missing something here, and no this was not intended as a needless nit pick (ok the HD vs solid state might be) I'm genuinely unsure what you mean with the app ability statement
Oops meant to say SSD. It’s WAY smaller than gaming devices like the PlayStation 5 so I’m sure people would appreciate a larger option.

If the new Apple TV includes a camera, as the render suggests, it will constantly be looking at the ceiling and the back of my LG TV.

I hope that if this new Apple TV materializes, it will support pass-through audio and DTS. An audio update would make me buy one on the first day it’s available!

The sad thing is that audio support could be implemented on all Apple TV's dating back to the 1080p one. It's just a software chabge

Sadly you and I both know they are the type to hide that behind a new unit. Making you buy another one.
