Apple TV 4K definitely had a fan… see iFixit teardowns:

Question about thread. Does it matter where the Apple TV is placed in the house for it to work well or does it need to be closer to where all the devices are? I have things on both floors.
Theoretical distance is 100 feet - but you could easily expand the range of your thread network through just a few smart plugs like the Eve Energy units.

Just like wifi it's probably a matter of trial and error -- various wall/floor materials will impact the signal range and such.

Since it doesn't have a fan the least they could have done was put a hole through the middle so it could be bolted down. :)

50% less weight is a very important feature for a device that is 100% of its lifetime sitting on a sideboard, totally worth to mention it prominently on the headline.
Yes ut is very impirant for apple green washing, you see when you ship millions of devices worldwide these grans an inches add up rather swiftly, the summary say 25% redyvrion in carbon footprint, which looks really nice on the yearly green report ( whatever it's called)

Less weight means it requires less fuel to ship it here.

This isn't just about a product once it gets to you. It's about the environmental cost to produce it, to package it, to ship it, and to run it.

When you ship millions of products, as Apple does, that adds up quickly to thousands of gallons of fuel not burned and put into our atmosphere.

Its $30 cost extra to have an ethernet port for this type of device? Unbelievable.

$20 see

Also that $20 doubles your storage from 64GB to 128GB.

I hope the packaging at least looks different than the previous two gens that looked all the same

Do you walk around with it in your pocket or something. I would imagine most people just leave it somewhere near the TV.
thank god, now finally fits in my pockets, due to decreased thickness, instant buy

If it fixes the micro studder my 2021 models experience on Netflix and Disney plus I’m in.

Which would be the motivation for releasing a minor phone hardware update each year, that is intentionally designed to not be user serviceable for something as simple as replacing the battery. Apparently the environment only matters when Apple decides it does.
