Do I have to get the mac one or can I get a 3rd party version? If I can get a 3rd party can anyone make a recommendation?

On 7/15/09 I received the following note from Tiffany:
hey sorry, I'm not aware of your whereabouts
but can anyone confirm if this 'guy' is legit? I'm afraid it might one of those scams where they'll ask me for my info and then etc..
I don't quite understand something. I want the screen to replace my laptop screen but when I connect it, it's just in addition to my laptop screen, like something I can drag over to. Anyone know how I can change this?

I dont see that option.
Arrangements tab isn't an option for me
Hey, can anyone with one of these monitors check to see if there is a serial number or any type of identification on the back of their unit?
One of my monitors has a few dead pixels and I want to return it, but of course, both of my units have no identifying serial numbers whatsoever. The dell rep said she couldn't help me without a serial number, but graciously offered to help me buy a new monitor if I wanted.
Ha! I was absolutely furious. I was thinking, "what kind of business would screw things up twice (the pixels and the lack of a serial number) and then tell you you need to pay to have them fixed?" And then I quickly remembered that this is dell and they have perfected the art of customer disservice. Things are indeed normal as ever in the computer universe.
But anyways, is anyone else missing a serial number?
And as an aside, is anyone else noticing a foul odor emitting from the usb cable that came with the monitor? Mine has an incredibly toxic smell.
I just hope that the monitor's performance is worth all of this.
The serial number is on a slide-out card behind the side USB ports, as well as on the shipping box. Information about how to find the serial number is located in the User's Guide on the CD that came with the monitor, as well as on Dell's web site.
In case all of those were unavailable, I called Dell's tech support number (800-624-9896) to see if they could find it. The rep said it is normally on the back and asked me if I saw it there. I said no, and he put me on hold for about 2 minutes while he looked up the manual. After coming back he told me about the card.
The rep was courteous and helpful, which is consistent with my past dealings with Dell. At no point did the rep try to sell me a new monitor.
