New Evidence iPhone 4G Images are Authentic

A lot of MacRumors readers have a decidedly tenuous connection to reality.
Many of them think that Apple Inc. can suspend the laws of physics or economics of consumer electronics manufacturing. They simply don't have enough neurons to understand the concept of an engineering prototype.
I wonder if it's an Apple plant to discredit engadget's article? I've seen tons of people faking photo's as legitimate Apple products, but faking photos to discredit legitimate products???? Something's fishy about that.
Maybe I'm missing something here but so what if it is/isn't a prototype of the next iPhone? We already knew it was getting a webcam because there are iChat Agent user strings in 4.0 along with alert sounds.
Look at the the "iPad" prototype next beneath it. It looks nothing like the released version. There is simply nothing to learn from this info. I wouldn't even necessarily trust the micro SIM slot since Engadget has never really had any insider info at Apple.

this getting more interesting by the minute... can't wait for WWDC, though!! 
it's gonna be awesome this year I just know it. I think this year's iPhone is gonna beat every other iPhone!

To everyone shouting fake and saying this is very un-apple take a look at the original iPhone 3G leak thread above. Every other comment is 'it's a fake' or 'Apple would never make that.'
Face it, none of you know what Apple will or wont do.
I still am not to fond of this look. Of course I understand it could just be a prototype or may even have nothing to do with Apple at all. I just don't think Apple will abandon the sleek, rounded edges of the iPhone in favor of this outdated brick shape from the late 90s. The rounded edges of the iPhone make it comfortable to hold and easy to pick up. This wouldn't be nearly as nice.
I actually like the look of the back panel though. Wouldn't mind if they incorporated something like that on the current body style. Don't see how people are tired of current model. I still don't think it's been equaled. Such a seamless, beautiful design. Something like this would be sweet though (maybe center the camera tho):
Regardless, I just bought my 3GS last summer, and it's still a great phone, so I won't be upgrading until next year when my contract is up.

All I can say is WOW. This is really stirring the pot here. No matter what Im gonna be buying the new iPhone when it comes out. My 3G iPhone is getting tired and to me the 3GS is really not an upgrade to me. I say what ever Apple has coming down the tubes has to be good.
I hope it gets the faster processor, more RAM, 5MP camera, 64GB drive... not sure what else to expect for the internals. If its gonna have a front facing camera will it still have the rear facing camera too? If so what will they be? 5MP chip for the rear and 3.2 MP for the front? I would like to see some discussion about this sense everyone has been talking about the front facing camera.

The one thing that makes me doubt the story, is the bit about it having been found on the floor of a bar in San Jose, in a 3GS case. Given the boxiness of this phone, I doubt i would have fit into such a case.
And from the recent MBP updates, we know Apple is more about the gradual evolution (even when it means falling behind some mainstream items), than radical change... so the mini memory card... me thinks not. Unless Steve is really going to push his as a still/video camera and offer the memory card as a mean to capture more footage without hogging up all the internal memory.

So they ARE real. What does it weigh, like 5 pounds? The buttons and form factor look cheap, so hopefully this isn't the final design of the casing. I know car manufacturers use test "mules" that have all the insides correct but hide the car using mixed and matched sheet metal to throw people off. Hopefully this is the case here.

Great link by Goobot! It's so true, I remember that last year. I can't wait for this new iphone to come out, I love being right. I knew this was real the minute I saw it, there are no counterfeits that look that good. Can't wait to do video chat with the new front facing camera!

The 3G prototype and the retail 3G weren't exactly the same. The prototype had black volume buttons while the retail version was chrome.
