Fun is Reltative

Given The Steve's excitement when showing Spotlight for the first time.. ( he was like me looking at some Oops:es ).. fun could be anything.

I want to see an iPhone!!

Those boneheads at c/net News.com don't realize that the calender showing the Feb. 28th date is a Mac application [iCal].

"Unlike past invitations, which hinted at which product Apple was targeting, the current invitation includes just a picture of a calendar with only the date Feb. 28 on it."

Priceless. :D

One More Guess

For me, 'Fun' is typical iTalk. It is impossible to draw conclusions from that. That kind of understatement allows big and small announcements without making yourself laughable.

The iTunes song countdown will be finished very, very soon. So they will at least mention it or even announce something music related to underline it. It has been 99% sure that the counter will be finished by the end of the month for some time.

If the invitation was like a small application, the product could be a relatively modest bunch of multimedia applications or widgets or a music hardware product/software application combo. The latter is much more likely since there is an invitation after all.

But even better - the general visual theme of the invitation would serve well, if there will be several products in one or more product gategories.

They have to leave something big for the 1st April too. But based on the rumors, they have a lot to choose from. ;)

I have a good feeling about this. Stay iTuned, brothers and sisters.

Appreciated. :) You did not offend me, though, but I certainly appreciate your concern. ;)
I'm just saying... the dudes got issues.
That doesn't make him a criminal... yet.
Court determinations can [unfortunately] be bought by people with fame and fortune in any country. I'm sure even Spain has a little judicial corruption, right?. Hence, my reference to OJ Simpson.

Determinations of innocence can also be acquired through political influence, as in the Rodney King trial of '92 which resulted in the LA Riots immediately following the courts "not guilty" verdict in the case of the assaulting Los Angeles Police officers.

I too "fancy justice and pressumption of innocence." But in high profile cases like the three I've cited here, there is just so much manipulation and questionablity that it's really difficult to say with confidence, "Innocent."

I agree with you. But popular belief created by press and news broadcasts cannot be taken as a fair source of justice in any case. Sure there are very important issues with the Spanish judicial system... but I never try to arrogate myself the right to decide wether someone is guilty or not. Precisely because it is hard to determine if someone is innocent, we should not be stating that Mr. John Doe is guilty "just because we deeply feel so". I firmly believe that someone is innocent until proved guilty beyond reasonable doubt. It does not matter that I actually have strong beliefs that he is guilty. I need to be able to prove that. ;) Until that occurs, that person must be treated as innocent. :) If the judicial system is corrupted, we cannot let ourselves be corrupted by our opinions either.

I'm looking forward to the new and fun Apple products this Tuesday. :)
Me too. :)

.

This is no doubt a Mac Mini with featuring HDR and a touchscreen on the topside of it. Who needs a detached screen anyways? :D

But on a more serious note? Could they be announcing computer games for the Intel Macs? I mean, since we're now using the same processor as the pc's, it should be easier to compile the games for macs...

my 2$

I don't know if this has been mentioned, I've only read 10 of the 20 odd pages..

iWorld; with Steve's recent appointment to the Disney board, perhaps Disney world is to be rebranded, that would be a fun.

Perhaps with the new iPorter to teleport the press to Florida, all power by touch screen technology.

Who knows, lets see whtas awaiting....

It could get even more interesting with MacSpeech and "touch sensitive" interaction.

MacSexBot Pro: My, what a big DOCK you have.
ezekielrage_99: Do you want to touch my GUI?

I'm looking forward to the new and fun Apple products this Tuesday. :)

LOL we were asking for that :D

After all the net is only usefull for 3 things:
- Piracy
- Porn
- There is probably another thing out there that the net is good for....

Ooooh... now THIS would be cool! I'd love to believe it but Jobs' head has been so far up his rear in wooing game developers I'd find it a stretch, compelling as it is.

Let's have less of the MJ irrelevance, eh?

I look forward to seeing what it is, but it probably isn't computers. It might be iPods, or more likely iPod accessories.

Otherwise ... god knows. They're new products. Maybe Apple's entering a new market again, like with the iPod. In which case we can wait for Slashdot to declare it lame and then watch it go on to sell in the millions.

Maybe it's a fun portable computer. MacSlate :p. Not high powered. Runs Mac OS X. Lots of fun things on it - it isn't a business system. But it also does PDA stuff, hence the calendar. Yes, I know this is 1% likely :( The 'real' video iPod is far more likely, with built-in games (some of which will be available in the new iPod firmware updates) and the ability to buy games online. But what about controlling these games? They'll all be touch screen? That's quite limiting... hmmm, again I find it all rather unlikely.

That leaves ... the Steve Jobs doll.

One more hypothesis

iCal and fun new products??
How about a scheduling system for iCal so that you can download shows/ and movies on a rental (1 week DRM managed type of thing) on a schedule (kind of like TiVo)

-- program it to automatically download your favorite TV show at 2AM the day after it airs

so i guess that is two products...

a software scheduler

and movie rental downloads...

Alarm clock/boombox

My guess would be an Apple branded iPod alarm clock (iCal icon)/boombox. Similar to to the iHome, only nicer. Price point guess is $129.

VIIV is Windows only - not Mac.

But since VIIV includes a hardware DRM component, there's nothing stopping Apple from using it, or their own homebrew version of it. You really think if Apple asked to have access to the functionality, Intel would say no?

I think Apple absolutely may use VIIV...they will just call it something else or not admit to it at all.

Yeah. I would LOVE for it to have the correct date. I never remember the date

Why don't you just click on the clock? Or leave iCal running? Or look at the calendar widget?

I find it funny how everyone thinks that it could be a new iPod. The last major iPod revision was when, October? It's not going to happen.

Why not? The iPod w/video and Nano announcements were closer together than October and now. I don't think it's likely, but the timeframe isn't much of a reason to rule it out.

I'm still hoping for DVR mini, but I suspect that is still a few months off. My guess is a silly "fun" little app like Photo Booth...and some other meat and potatoes announcements to pad it out, like another intel model or more universal apps.

I'm sure its been posted -- I'm not going to read through 20+ pages to try and see -- but the inclusion of the iCal icon has to mean something.

I can't imagine this is a special buildup for the release of an iPod "accessory" like a "boom box" or whatever. How lame would that be? Inviting people in to see the newest accessory!? I think I'd walk out if Jobs pulled that kind of crap.

The inclusion of the iCal makes me think it has to be some kind of organizer/calendar -- either hardware or software. I can't imagine them releasing a PDA - not with the way the PDA market is tanking these days. Apple phone/organizer, maybe?

What about an iPod with build in camera and photobooth

I wouldn't mind an iPod with build in camera. The size is right for holding in your hand and you have a lot of storage room.

Photobooth I only added because they mentioned it had to be funny. Jobs said photoboot was "fun" and wouldn't it be even more fun if you could take a picture of your friends and start distorting it right away.

It's kind of obvious that this was going to happen. The Macworld keynote was obviously "stretched" because certain products that Jobs had planned to announce weren't quite ready. Why else would he spend so long demoing iLife?

I've got a theory...

(It must be bunnies)

No, just kidding.

An iPod clock-radio stereo, with a calendar/alarm function that syncs with iCal via Bluetooth. Now that would fall into the category of a fun gadget (as opposed to a major release) and it would rock!

Well, I'm not sure an alarm clock is fun. Most mornings I want to smash mine. A Bluetooth alarm clock? That's fun?! You need to get out more.

One thing's for sure. We'll get so see what Apple's definition of fun is. Hopefully what Apple calls fun and the general public calls fun are similar.

I'd hate for Apple to try to convince me that an iBoomBox was fun! I'm not sure they could.

One More Thing...

The Event on the 28 of Feb Will have several new Products these are the most likely

1.An iBook Renamed Macbook
2.An Mac Mini With Intel Processer
3.An 'Real' Video iPod
4.An iPod Boombox
5.An Apple PDA

Oh And One more Thing...

An Update to iTunes

Things that are unlikely

1.A Mac Pro (powermac)
2.iPhone
3.Macbook Pro 12" and 17"
4.Bluetooth Mighty Mouse
5.An update to the Cinema Displays
6.Any New Apps

Please Have A Look At My Rumor round up at : http://mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29409

ical icon? are we sure about this? if that's the case, then -obviously- it'll be some type of pda... only not exactly a pda, bigger... smaller than a laptop. something that has a touch screen and a different role than a laptop and ipod.

honestly though? i think it'll be something revolutionary.
