What really surprises me is that Apple is providing information to the case manufacturers ahead of time. With Apple's code of secrecy, I am almost shocked of the practice. Furthermore, one would think Apple would have an NDA with the case manufacturers on releasing any information to others that may divulge changes in iPod designs and functions.

Seeing a terrible image that's blurry and taken by an insider is fun to see. But I find no enjoyment in seeing cases from companies that Apple is helping prepare for model changes. Honestly, these case manufacturers are stabbing Apple in the back. I at least hope Apple notes all these leakers and denies them early information in the future.

Rumors are fun but I don't appreciate photos of cases early. It just ruins the fun. Now, I will take a blurry photo of a new iPod ahead of time or some insiders tip about a new capability of the iPod because that makes us all think is it real or fake. This photo of a case generates no discussion of anticipation to me.

ugh...this "rumor" is so played out now..its really getting boring...

we know they will get cameras...we get it...jeezz..move on

its like....rumor is the sun will rise tomorrow... new rumor: nasa sees evidence sun will rise tomorrow new rumor: sun has risen in china...will rise tomorrow in US...

That's definitely a different style of the same font family.

No it's not.

The type on the left hand side (next to the iPod touch logo) is Adobe Myriad; the type to the right of that looks to be Helvetica (or Helv Neue) Bold Condensed. The only thing they have in common is that they're both sans serif typefaces.

I wonder how many companies take a chance on creating cases based on the rumours we all hear, just in the hopes of being correct and becoming one of the few to offer cases for the new lineup of iPods? It must be risky, but I'm sure it pays off quite well if they get it right!

I agree on this. Just because images of cases are out doesn't necessarily justify it because it's all base on the rumors we hear. But yeah when it's right, the benefit is great since they are a handful of cases that are immediately out.

I don't quite understand the necessity of a camera on an iPod. Everyone has a camera phone now. I don't need ANOTHER camera. Take out the camera, leave it as is, and make it cheaper. (I guess you would still be able to get the camera-less iPods for cheaper so it doesn't matter.)

Just seems like they couldn't do anything new with the iPods so they added a camera and are calling it new just to keep the prices the same as they were last year. I could be wrong and they could have some new amazing technology; they haven't been released yet after all.

aligning the hardware platform makes sense - especially with the touch/iphone. Firstly there are probably cost savings from a common platform, also you have a wider addressable market for app store appliations.

I have a 2G ipod touch, but if they add camera+GPS+compass I'd be interested in buying a 3G. I like what they're doing with location etc at the moment. (if I'm away from a wifi hotspot I can use my phone as one)

Ok, I am gonna call it..

I think the nano will have a touch screen

They are going buttonless after all.

I think you would have a point if your assertion that "everyone has a camera phone now" was actually true. Despite prevalence of camera phones you are forgetting about two things:
- not everyone (i.e. kids, those that have corporate phones with disabled cameras) has a phone
- lots of adults still get the free phone offer that doesn't have a camera
- most people don't even know how to get a photo off their phone other than MMS. Not everyone has an iPhone with a good UI and companion desktop software to download photos

I can't wait to buy the new iPod touch 3rd generation so that I can get rid of this stupid iPhone.

Looks mainly just like some ISO blur to me.

1. What is "ISO blur"? Did you just make up your own term? ISO refers to film speed and has absolutely nothing to do with whether an image is sharp or blurry.

2. The image has absolutely no blur whatsoever. It's clear that the "iPod touch/3rd generation" font is a heavier, more narrow style of the "iPod touch/2nd generation" font.

Like everyone else, are you serious.

I would be frustrated to buy an Ipod nano with a camera on it now since I have an Iphone. What do you do with with your pics on your ipod nano with no internet???

1.
You are making an huge assumption that the next Nano won't have WiFi. WiFi is a possibility especially if they move iPhone OS to the platform. Nano could be refactored as a mini Touch hybrid.

2.
Every iPod comes with some sort of USB connection. What is that used for besides charging?

3.
Have you considered video out? Many cameras allow you to directly drive HDTVs the is no reason the Nano couldn't do so also. People do use this feature.

4.
Maybe Apple will expand the use of SD cards. Seriously it is the standard for consummer cameras. Sure on iPod this is departure from the current arraingement, but Apple could limit access to the card just to camera jpegs and keep the rest of the system secure. Obviously Apple has a plan for SD, maybe this is it.

5.
Bluetooth.

6.
A high resolution screen for sharing pics.

Without even trying that is a half dozen ways to avoid your frustrations. So where you serious or not?

I respect Apple's decision to move in a different direction but IDGAF about having a camera on my iPod. I'd prefer capacity over all these other trinkets. Seems like they just wanted to throw in another feature just for ***** & giggles.

When you have ISO Set higher on a camera, it tends to blur the picture slightly. It looks blurry to me on the right handside where it gets darker compared to the left handside.

Great, now their gonna jack up the price b/c they put a pos camera on there. Next their will be a phone on it, er wait, thats an iphone.

As everyone's saying. Sooner or later they're gonna run out of features to put in there. Until something like holographic imaging comes out to mainstream market, then they're gonna be stuck with just bumping the capacity and making things smaller.
