as cruel and funny as ever but the concept is getting kind of old now - I'm looking forward to the next advertising campaign!

Wow, those were great, made me laugh a lot! :D
There is also another one i havent seen before called Sad Song, kinda funny, but, ehh. Is that one new? I havent seen it before?

Like the two that were posted tho! Made my day! (It was finals week, anything funny brightens your day!)

Seems like Apple added another ad titled "Sad Song". I think these ads are dragging on a bit, but feel they are still effective.

But why do they only focus only on Vista now?

Because people are generally happy enough with their computer and don't just go out and replace it becaue of a TV ad. These ads aren't going to make someone buy a computer who wasn't going to in the first place. So who are they targeting?

Well, the people who have already decided to replace their XP machine and are faced with 3 main choices:

1) Get a Vista PC.
2) Get another XP machine.
3) Get a Mac.

Option #2 is kind of iffy...spend a lot of money on yesterday's technology? So while that's a choice, it's not a strong contendor for many people.

That leaves Vista or Leopard. Apple knows they'll never sell any Macs unless people have a reason to look outside their comfort zone. So these ads are designed to make the "Windows comfort zone" feel less comfortable to people.

Macs do well in a side-by-side test. They don't have to advertise that Macs are great. Once someone is in the Apple store, they can see that. Their ONLY goal here is to get someone to think "well gee, maybe I should at least LOOK at a Mac."

That's it. That's the only message they need to get out. The product advertises itself after that point. And since Vista is the default product, they have to attack it to make people think that looking elsewhere is at least an option.

What if I just got Vista for my Mac via Boot Camp? Apple keeps telling people to 'Get a Mac', but current Macs can also act as a full-time Windows machine. Does that mean Apple is all about hardware and not so Mac OS X?

I thought the same thing. Especially as right below the ads is a link to how to install Windows on your Mac. To my mind they should be focusing on that fact - maybe have PC saying "thanks, you've really boosted sales of Vista with Boot Camp", rather than getting all annoyed about us being able to run Office "so well", which is rubbish anyway.

A Lil help here...

I am a hearing impaired person, and I cant make out everything he is singing... any kind soul care to jot out the lyrics? I used to hear well, so its not a waste... I just cant appreciate ALL sounds any more.

TIA

I disagree... my revenue says that (unfortunately) this is the most popular option. if I can get a customer into that dreamy what-if state, I sold a mac... if they are get-in get-out folks generally I have sold an xp. If they are latest and greatest, vista, and then later a copy of XP to fall back to.

Or I show em how to make vista behave as well as XP (but slower on the same hardware)

Well...

Question, I tried to access the video from an iPhone and no go. There needs to be a video link for iPhone users! How can I be the first to think of this?!

Rocketman

Well, since you own an iPhone, chances are you already know how great macs are.

Is Apple all about adz for kidz these days? These efforts are American Pie 5 caliber; sophomoric humor stuck on repeat. No wonder science and engineering are suffering in schools when computers are sold by binaries arguing over which is the stud in front of the cheerleaders. Sadly, the problem spreads when the hardware line becomes more and more concerned about pink or blue than practical computing matters. Many are laughing at you on this one, Apple, not with you.

Apple confirmed to Macworld that the 2008 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) has sold out for the first time.

This is the reason why Apple is being so successful and their Ads are definitely working. keep up the great work, apple! Dont listen to these idiotic people, they are of no match to your brain.

IT IS NOT ABOUT OLD OR NEW CONCEPT. THE ADS ATTACK MICROSOFT ON THE RIGHT SPOT! AND THAT'S ALL IT NEEDS.

Mac: Hello- I'm a mac
PC: And I'm a PC - Well mac, vistas got me feeling down, so I've written a little song called "The Vista Blues"
Mac: Oh - I'd love to hear it some time - I have to run -
PC: "So Many users... are leaving me... and they ain't coming back-aack. Vistas got issues, and is so glitchy, they're leaving me ... for Mac
Dog: {Howl}
Mac: Nice touch! (Talking to the dog)

I LOVE "Sad Song". It's so funny. I also like the cheerleader one. PC's spectacular entrance is amusing.

These are getting really old and embarrassing.

You are getting really old and embarrassing.

I'm old and generally embarrased....

That "Sad Song" one is cute also.

Last I posted this there ended up a lot of "hate responses" but my friend got a Vista machine for his home business and hasn't had a single problem with it.

Which is one reason why these ads are sort of getting old.

I find the people with Vista problems are the ones running it on machines not even capable of it.

Yep

I find the people with Vista problems are the ones running it on machines not even capable of it.

Yeah, but that's the point, you shouldn't have to know a lot about computers to be able to run them. Vista requires people to be fairly familiar with their setup in order to be happy (or buy a new computer).

It's like owning a car...I don't have to know how to fix one (or change the oil, or even what kind of engine I have) to drive a car or even upgrade it's parts.

For PC, it's best to stick with the operating system from the start. I did upgrade my HP workstation at work to Vista business. Although HP didn't provide any driver for that model, Vista runs just fine.

I treated the ad as comedy.

I think the best commercial that pretty much go with the above statement is the "Choose a Vista" game one. Here's some "FAIL" pic to go with this thread:

Longhorn Blues

Actually, this fits right in with the Longhorn theme - Longhorn originally was slated for release in 2002, before it got changed to Vista, and currently, Windows 7.

Thanks so much! I couldnt ge tthe glitchy part coz they werent showing his face for parts of the song

These are getting really dull... They were funny at first, but now they're just pointless bashing. Vista doesn't suck as much as Apple would want people to think. What I especially dislike is the fact that the Mac guy isn't doing anything lately, the PC guy doesn't put up a fight anymore.
