I'm not sure if someone had answered this, but noone thinks the shrinking shipping times is a bad sign, do they? From 5-7 to 3-5

Most likely, it's not a bad sign. At least it's not back to same day again, KNOCK ON WOOD, and it seems that the rumors are every strong for these updates, with all the ThinkSecret stuff and all. After all, they are a pretty reliable source and this time, I do trust that the iBooks will be out THIS tuesday. Becasue of all of the strong clues, I belive this now more than ever and it's a great feeling!

Nah. 3-5 days still brings us to sometime next week. Since it has been 9 months from the last iBook update AND this is the back-to-school buying season, Apple isn't going to want to pass up the opportunity to get more interest in buying their iBooks.

Also, it has been six months since Mac mini was introduced. I think this is another product that will probably be in high demand for the back-to-school season. Hence the upcoming updates. I'd mention the iMac or eMac, but those were already updated in May.

Not sine the 21st.

Yes it has. Check out that article on ThinkSecret. It now says "(Updated)" in the title and there is a new section on the bottom confirming the rumors. Yes, there will, in fact, be new iBooks and minis on Tuesday. Whooppeeeee!!!!!!
:) :D :D :D

Yeh, early next week, so either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. But I can put a limb on it that it'll be Tuesday. Upgrade for me, yay.

This new mini could just be my next mac. But I have to wonder, what kind of improvements could I expect over my 1 GHz 17" iMac? (This intel thing just sort of spoiled my plans for a Powermac as my next Apple purchase.)

Good question - one I'm afraid I don't have the answer to... ;) Technically, it should be faster (depending how much RAM you have in your current machine), but then factor in the fact that you'll need a monitor for the Mini, etc.

Just curious, why did Intel spoil your plans for a PowerMac? You were hoping to buy a PowerMac in a couple years, but don't like Intel/prefer PowerPC, so now you're not sure if you will or not? Am I close? ;)

The PowerBook (and maybe the iBook) will be the first Mac(s) to use an Intel processor. Remember, you heard it here first.
I agree on iBook, except that the first Mac to use an Intel processor was the Quadra 610 DOS Compatible released by Apple in 1994. Had both a Motorola 68040 and an Intel 486 CPU. Apple did a number - at least three - of Intel Inside Macs in the mid nineties, which is another reason I don't know why everyone insists it will be next year before we see Intels again in low-end Macs. More like next week.

Thanks for the history lesson  even though I meant the switch.

As far as Intel chips in Macs next week...no.

Especially since the $300 rebate on powerbooks at Amazon ends on Monday. Lets hope they get an update too, but more accuratley I bet a price drop is in order to make them closer to the iBooks once they recieve the closer specs.

I'm just curious why we haven't heard a thing about what the new features of the iBook will be...or the Mac mini for that matter. WTF?

New features regarding what?
Graphics, Processor, Memory, new screens, or something totally different?

Apple just likes to surprise us, that's all.

Has anyone realized that on Tuesday everymac except the PowerMac G5 will have AP and BT Standard?

Seems a bit odd to me, that the high end machine doesn't have AP or BT Standard.

It does seem odd, but remember that this is a rumor (regardless of who released it) and please note that the eMac doesn't have Airport or BT built-in as well.

I know It's A Rumor. But one would think that when your buying a $2000+ Machine (PowerMac) That it would already have the essential Wireless Upgrades.

Maybe the next Power Macs will have it as well. Then again, maybe Apple doesn't feel that the target market for PMs don't need/use wireless Airport.

Not to mention a better GPU. A Radeon 9600? Come on. Should have been at least a Radeon 9800 Pro...

That would be nice if the new iBooks come standard with bluetooth. I've always wanted a wireless mouse.

In the true spirit of being portable, Apple should include BT and AE standard on iBooks. These are no longer "new" technologies, so Apple should reflect this in their updated offerings.

AE is standard on all iBooks except the CD-ROM.
