I just called Apple, spoke to a rep. After much talking to him I got him to spill the beans. IBOOK UPDATE TOMMOROW for SURE!!!! GUARANTEED!!! Since he spilled the beans I thought of posting his extension (so he can get more sales from MR members as a reward for spilling the beans) but ended up not incase he may get in trouble. Peace out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good judgment call - sales referrals don't do a person much good if they've been fired. ;)

I will be glad if there is an update tomorrow. This means a Mini for me :D this will be my first Mac desktop actually(only owned an iBook and now a Powerbook).

OK, the only way we can guarantee this is to crack 900 posts before update time, so lets get cracking.

The guys down at my local AppleCentre were pretty "mum" about any updates although they seemed to hint that either they were expecting new product or that the new ones were already here and out the back. I doubt it's the second seeing as we are usually one of the last markets to get new stuff - especially the same day they're announced in the states but hey, you never know.....

"ATI 9600 instead of FX5200? Perhaps. But 9600 would be the highest it would be. And from what I have found I don't see a whole lot of difference in performance between those two grafx processors."

you must not have found much...
my imac has 5200, runs kotor just fine- on the lowest settings
my gf just got the new imac with the 9600- runs kotor fantastically on high settings..

there is most certainly a dramatic difference between the two

I have not checked MacMall in a while. However, I just did and they have Mini's matching the price points 499,599,699 as well as a 799. Can anyone vouche that the site has been like that. http://www.macmall.com/macmall/families/macmini/

Yup, That's always been like that. They must order BTO Models, and then just resell em.

@ The Rate we are going at 1am we'll definetely pass the 900 post mark by 900 this morning.

These were posted on the AppleInsider forums earlier today. Supposedly they showed up in the apple.com/ibook/images directory at some point in the day and someone was able to intercept them.

Ya. Unless he was bull&^&*^&*%. Then I will post his name and extension  :D

Sounds fair to me.

Although absolutely all of these rumors/accounts/claims are probably not true, there are enough of them now that at this stage, to me at least, it is a foregone conclusion that iBook updates will happen tomorrow. And if they don't, I'll gladly admit defeat. ;)

That'd be a big muttha of an iBook - heavy too... But hell, I'll take it.

Looks real enough. I'm inclined to think this is the real deal. Good find!

I don't think that I will stay up all night. I have Blackboard training in the morning. Even though I have been a system admin for three years. Go figure.

If that picture is real we will find out in a few hours

Anyone pulling an all-nighter?

Nope, pulling an "all-dayer" 9am Cupertino time is 2am Wednesday my time - not too bad if there's some good telly on, which there isn't but hey, that's what DVD's are for eh?

Cool. This seems plausible to me, a 15.4" screen would definitely be very cool. Throw in those other mentioned updates, along with a new video card. 512 MB RAM and some updated HD options, all for the same price as the existing 14" and that's going to be one nice little machine!

That does look huge. Boo. What about a tiny iBook?!

I don't think it would be that bad - there are 15" PowerBooks after all. Come on devilot76, give this new potential iBook a chance! For me? ;)

Here's a few things I predict will happen:

A. Both Mac Mini and iBook will be updated to Core Image compliant graphics, I say 64MB 9600's, just because that is what was placed on the eMac, and those machines are all in the same sub-class if Apple's consumer line.

B. The iBook will get bumped to standard Bluetooth and 1.33/1.5 configs, as the next PB update will boost the 12" PB to higher clock speeds anyway. The Mac mini will get the same treatment, bumped to 1.33/1.5, and will likely get standard bluetooth and AE.

C. I think we'll probably see a standard SD on the high end Mac Mini model, and no SD on any iBooks, except as a BTO option. That is unless Apple does a complete surprise and puts it in the 1299 model, which of course would be awesome.

D. The iBook will most likely go to a 12" and 13.3" models, the latter sacrificing a bit of screen real-estate for a WS display and higher resolution. This is only if the WS rumors are true, which I am about 80% on right now.

But I guess we'll see! I am hoping to see a 1.67 Mac Mini, as I want to buy one, but seriously doubt Apple would put that in one of these machines. Only time will tell though...

So I am guessing that it will come out 12am Apple time in California? This is very exciting. I wonder if Dell enthusiasts (if there are any) get exciting for the new *insert Dell computer name* when rumors about it arise. Hmm.

[Giddy like a 6 year old]Weeeee! Come on Apple![/Giddy like a 6 year old]
