I don't think it would be that bad - there are 15" PowerBooks after all. Come on devilot76, give this new potential iBook a chance! For me? ;)
*sniff* You can have your giant. As for me, I'll be waiting for the smaller iBook. *thinking to self* Hmm, if my sister won't swap w/ me, then I'll just have to look for someone to buy my PB off of me or swap their new iBook w/ me.

So I am guessing that it will come out 12am Apple time in California? This is very exciting. I wonder if Dell enthusiasts (if there are any) get exciting for the new *insert Dell computer name* when rumors about it arise. Hmm.

[Giddy like a 6 year old]Weeeee! Come on Apple![/Giddy like a 6 year old]

I have always wondered the same thing. Now i am going to bed :D

Cool. This seems plausible to me, a 15.4" screen would definitely be very cool. Throw in those other mentioned updates, along with a new video card. 512 MB RAM and some updated HD options, all for the same price as the existing 14" and that's going to be one nice little machine!

If that 15.4" iBook is launched tomorrow I would buy it for sure, at $1299, despite what I have said.

I doub't it though.

"Blazing fast 1.42 Ghz" I don't think even apple would make such a claim.

These were posted on the AppleInsider forums earlier today. Supposedly they showed up in the apple.com/ibook/images directory at some point in the day and someone was able to intercept them.
Fake. They would not use the term "TFT" in the headline. Also, says G4 and the rev will have a Pentium M.

Alright, fair enough devilot76, I hope you get your smaller iBook - you deserve it (and I hate to see you disappointed). :)

But now, I'm off to bed. Looking forward to waking up to imminent updates in 6 hours. G'night all...

I think that if they're making a 15 inch widescreen iBook, then they will be upgrading the screen resolution on the 15 in Powerbook. Just some food for thought

D. The iBook will most likely go to a 12" and 13.3" models, the latter sacrificing a bit of screen real-estate for a WS display and higher resolution. This is only if the WS rumors are true, which I am about 80% on right now.
No way they would do only 12" and 13.3" models. These are so similar it would be pointless. Just because you want an entry level Mac laptop doesn't mean you also want an ultra-portable, hence the 14". Either one or the other of the 12" and 13.3", but not both.

I think that if they go widescreen, they should also put out a redesign. Maybe the plastic case could look like the Apple mouse, with the clear plastic outer moulding. That would be nice.

That's about 75 cents!

Edit: (Unless you mean the NEW Turkish Lira which would come out to $745,434.00)

The difference is .7", and a 1.3" difference exists, this coupled with WS and a higher resolution make them pretty different in my book. And if trimming .7" off the screen makes the 14" an ultra-portable, then trimming .7" off the 12" will make it a PPC.

Hm...goin out tonight, hopefully by the time I get back Apple's page will have been updated. Maybe even after dinner here it'll be updated (Tokyo time).

I would really love to see their website statistics during a week like this.

Interesting to note that also, lately Apple prices (on the Minis and Ipods at least) in Japan have been cheaper than my native California because the dollar has been going up against the yen.

Sigh. So depressing. The weakening dollar is awful for shopping and international traveling (well, at least for an American). :(

I also noticed the latest image says "The new 15" iBook".

It seems that Apple use the full word ("15-inch") instead of the inch marks, so I'm skeptical.

We'll find out soon enough.

That's a really good call. I just checked the hardware site on apple.com and you're right, everything is referred to as "12-inch."

It's not even inch marks, but quote marks.

Definite fake.

I don't think Apple would sell a 15 inch laptop for 1299. That just sounds highly unlikely. Plus, it would kill many powerbook 15 inch sales as the price difference would be over $700. In my opinion, the rumors about two 13.3 inch widescreen models makes more sense. But I guess we'll find out in a few hours now.

Haha, what about your "exhaustive analysis" you mentioned in that other thread proving the images were real? ;)

Exactly right xrayzed - the long wait is sure giving some keen Photoshoppers a chance to display their proficiency. Unfortunately, their marketing-fakery skills are not as good as their Photoshopping... ;)

Six hours to go before the Store goes down...

No silly, it's just Lacero and his sense of humor. That's why I was poking fun at him w/ my winking smilie. :D

I wouldn't if I were you, Turkey moved the decimal point of their currency several places to the left at the beginning of the year. It now stands that at 1.34 Lira to the US Dollar.

As for the upgrade. A form factor change wouldn't necessarily be that outlandish. If Apple, in order to smooth the transition to Intel are going to keep case designs more or less the same then making the form factor change now is not a bad idea, it provides continuity. Powerbooks, and Duos did not really change in appearance when they went from 68k to PPC, neither did Quadras when they became Power Macs. Of course Apple weren't such a Design company then.
