It looks like we are just about 24 hours away from the keynote who else is waiting for that 12" 64mb vram 1.5ghz G4 ibook

So waiting for this! Whatever the update (there better be one!), just let them be at the Apple store on Wednesday, cause thats the day i'm dropping money for one... :D

32mb of vram is a joke and was not adequate even in 2003, furthermore it does not fully support the core image features in tiger so the vram will defiantly be bumped to 64mb wither it be a nVidia GeForce FX Go 5200 or anATI Mobility Radeon 9600, however the G4 speed bump maybe more along the lines of 1.33ghz but I think 1.5ghz is not out of the question.

Like I said before..my guess is a Go5200 and 1.33 ghz cpu.

Actually, The Monday. :)

But seriously, I wonder if Apple will migrate their iBooks and PowerBooks to Intel first, if the chatter turns out to be correct.

Hmm...in a few hours we shall know. :)

Does anyone know how long it takes for new products to become available in the uk educational store - the nus one? (ie, you can proceed to the checkout and pay for them, never mind the time for delivery)

best thread on macrumors

I really love this thread: it is so full of suspense. And it has been said before: there will always be a next tuesday, so it is always hot, this thread is.

So mod's, can't we keep this thread open indefinitely? perhaps I should register www.newibooksnexttuesday.com...

:D

just one hour more (45 minutes by my nntp synched clock, to be precise)

tut tut... now you know it doesn't work that way, you have to wait till its at least 10:00am in the states, its still monday for them!

would i be safe in assuming that if no new ibooks are announced tomorrow, its almost certain that they will not be announced at all?
should I buy wednesday or wait till saturday/sunday?

yeah, i need to decide by this thursday pretty much i guess.

i miss out on a 70 discount if i decide to gamble and wait til next tuesday, since I leave the country that night.

is it safe to assume that I won't be getting a new ibook even if it is updated, as in it won't be in the store by next tuesday even if it is updated, right?

Damn them to hell.

There better be an update tomorrow, otherwise... *fistshake*

Well, never thought this thread I started would turn into this. :p

However think about it. An update for the iBook (and possibly Powerbooks) tommorow would be perfect. Now that the crazy news is out about a switch to Intel is out and people have become very scared of buying a Mac now, wouldn't it make perfect sense to release new hardware tommorow? It will sort of reinstill consumer confidence that the PowerPC line of computers still has life left and make people sort of forget about today's news. Even if people aren't buying these laptops and buying a desktop like an iMac it will show that Apple still hasn't abondoned development of the current processors and that these current products are not obsolete (yet). As I said it is the perfect way for Apple to try and recover lost hardware sales from today's news.

so it goes.

I like your thinking, oh ya, and this is my first time writing in a forum, am I a dork now?

This is hard to believe. I don't think that ordinary Apple employees would know of any upgrade when there is no reliable rumor around. If many people know then there will be a rumor...

What do you think is happening now? :p

I was hoping for those freescale chips I've been reading about so much to be announced in new powerbooks, but i don't see that happening for quite some time now.

All this complex stuff is annoying. Talk about stopping people switching. I dont want to buy a computer that is going to be out of date in one years time.

I buy computers to last a long time.

I'll just out and buy a dell that doesnt have so maybe ifs buts and maybes.

I'll just have to learn to type on the small keyboard of the 700m
