If the ibook was to be updated, shouldnt the apple.com/hardware of ibook be updated just as well?

Unfortunatly you will probably miss it it usually takes an hour....

ShadoW ;)

Thanks for being the bearer of bad news Shadow. I'm going to be overdosed on caffeine and anxious about the new ibook???? Let's just hope it's not too hot out so I'm not drinking 2 gallons of water and peeing every 5 seconds from all the anticipation

What happened last time the site updated? Did they update the whole site or just the store first?

YAY THEY ALSO HAVE CRAM AND JAM!!!!

Instead of the student discount they had it says now with a purchase of a mac you get a mac mini! :D

"According to the web report, Apple is asking the media to prepare for new product announcements on or before the first Thursday in July."
-This was from the AppleInsider website news.

The report apparently says to expect new product announcements so that is a good sign since it is plural (crossing fingers). However if there is nothing by July 7th then that most likely means the iBook won't be updated before school starts and that would be a HUGE mistake on their part.

Yep because I'm going to buy a dell, which represent far better value for money at the moment.

Hmmm

Although I'm dissappointed with no new ibooks - yet -
You could also predict that there now must be something MUCH BIGGER than a colour ipod for the apple announcement in the next week.

My money is on the phone/ipod with Motorola

The new ibooks? who knows now!

Can't wait to get home and try podcasting in itunes 4.9

Just a thought, but perhaps we'd all be better off checking the apple store rather than this thread on a daily basis?!? :D

I WILL NOT switch until there's a new ibook!

BTW, at wwdc Jobs announced 'plenty of new PPC products in the pipeline' but since then we've seen no new products and in fact one (the single processor PM) has gone. ibooks soon methinks. It's the PPC product most in need of upgrade so if jobs meant what he said it has got to see an upgrade soon?

if apple doesn't update the ibooks by the end of next week, think i'll just have to buy one of the current ones cause i can't wait any longer

Have hope. If you up the RAM to 1.25GB, the shipping time rises to 5 days. For the past X number of weeks I have done this to check availabilty, it has always shown just 3 days.

Bum.

Still that leaves less possibilities for next week's update.

Honestly, I kind of doubt it. They've got the free iPod Mini running through September. I'm guessing no new Macs until that's over*.

* A Mac is being defined as a Mac Computer system, not some iPod derivative or phone.

does the free mini mean we have to give up?

I was also wondering whether the offer of a free Ipod mini until the end of Sept. means that we will not see an updated ibook until after that special offer? Was anything new released last year during Cram and Jam, or right before? Are we stuck waiting until October? :(

I guess I'm not the most patient person on earth....

It could just be that the additional 1gb ram stick is not available for a couple of days. My sister ordered an iBook from the UK apple store last night with BT & hard disk upgrade - it said ready to ship in 3 days - and she got an email this morning saying it is already shipping.

I do hope this iBook is worth waiting for... perhaps a Tablet iBook which is of widescreen size :D

I'm pretty sure last year nothing was announced. They had just updated the PB in April, actually with the iBook if IIRC. Then the iBook I think got a relatively quick update in October followed by the PB in January. Last year the Cram and Jam was only on Laptops while this year the free mini appears on most Macs.

At this point I'm not overly hopeful (but I'll gladly be wrong). Seems wierd they'd announce this and then update next week. For one thing, if you went out and bought an iBook this week, when the update came out, the old models would price drop and you could get probably $100 back on top of the rebate due to the price match policy.
