Is there ever any education special deal available in the UK? As far as I can see, the Cram & Jame doesn't apply for the UK.

The Usual from Apple- Customers outside the USA pay more to get less....

how sad...

What in the world are these people at Apple thinking????

Why are they waiting so long to update the iBooks? I don't get it, I just don't get it...

The free mini is pretty cool. But now I am really considering going for a 12 inch Powerbook. By the way, what is a "mini"-DVI out? Does it mean I'd need an adaptor to plug it in to a monitor?

I'm pretty sure last year nothing was announced.

imacs were updated in August last year

Last year the iPod rebate (the Cram and Jam) only covered Laptops. So I was referring to no laptops being updated in the time frame.

How is running OSX on PearPC working out for ya?
Oh, OSX isn't really that important. I just wanted to have a budget laptop to run some music software on it, and Garageband2 still appeals to me above everything else. Then I do writing, listen music and play videos. After re-comping kernel every linux gets hell of a faster than OSX ever could, and that's actually fairly easy trick.

Now I just need some capable music software on my linux-laptop...

EDIT: oh yeah, this baby doesn't need any fricking screen spanning doctor to ruin warranty and piss off Apple for improving software.

it does seem very silly to announce a promotion like this, only to update one of your product lines a week later. actually, thats very retarded.

i am new to this whole buying process.... could someone explain cram and jam to me? that would be great. i was pretty heartbroken with the no new ibook news. luckily i am a student and can wait a bit and get a ipod coupon. oh i love college.

cram and jam is an offer for students (only?) that basically includes a 179 USD mail-in rebate towards an Ipod purchase with the purchase of any notebook (except the Ibook cd), power mac or imac.

wierd. the ship time for the iBook's at my campus apple store was 1-3 days this morning, but now its been shifted back to 'same business day'.

Does not seem to apply in Canada either; seems to be available in the U.S. only. AFAIK, all we get in educational discount pricing.

Lynryd Skynrd

On shuffle mode as I was checking this thread, for the 100th time today , I just got to:

"Tuesdays Gone [Live] by Lynyrd Sknyrd"

Cram and Jam was the rebate Apple offered *last* year which was $200 off a laptop and iPod.

This year they are calling it "Student Union" and it's a $179 rebate with a Mac (certain exclusions apply) and an iPod. If you qualify for a student discount, you can check this out.

UK education store down - cram and jam

Strange,

UK education store seems to be down -
"No instance available"

- tried with safari and firefox - same result.

Cram and Jam in the UK?... we'll be lucky.

Why can't Apple support their 'overseas' customers
Apple are going to have to start 'thinking differently' and even the inbalance

The difference in offers/refurbs between the US and UK (and Canada) is disgraceful. For all the moaning on this site about 'prices' and 'I missed the free ipod offer', at least you GET these offers, and a refurb store stacked with bargains.

Shame on you Apple

What are the chances that we can see an increase in screen resolution for the 14" iBook? Possibly 1280x960 or something.

What the deal ? where are these new ibooks... i figured they would be here by now... does apple got something up their sleeve or juss not plan on updating the ibooks till the pbook gets new intel chips? 1 year from now? When will they update the ibooks damn it? WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think (unfortunately), sometime after Sept 24.

i dont believe it would apple really go without an ibook update for almost a whole year? (end of sept)

Seriously, I hope I'm wrong. The mere fact that it didn't happen today makes me think it's not next week. It's at least say 1 month away.

All the talk of april 7th being a date of when something is going to be released... perhaps its an ibook tablet w/ ibook updates thur out the line. maybe apple has realized how practical a tablet would be for college students (taking notes, drawing diagrams). I see no other conceivable reason for the delay.

Im pretty sure they will update the ibook soon, i mean if they decided not to update the ibook, the sensible move by apple would be to inform the customers, otherwise their sales would dramatically drop either from waiting for the new ibook or buying a different notebook product such as dell (as so many of us have contemplated including me :p )..... meh just update that damn ibook apple :D :D
