Awesome. I have posted the 1000 post mark!

Cool. :D

Ah... a thousand posts... what a tribute to the tenacity of iBook lovers.

Just for that, Apple will release new iBooks tomorrow.... I hope...

I thought the event would be 9:00am Pacific Time
I'm sorry if what I said was wrong, being a Brit I find all the different names for the US time zones a bit hard to understand. What I meant was that it is due to occur at 9am in California.

It would be interesting to see the results of their quarterly financials. I wonder if slow iBook sales factor into lower profits the same time last year. Apple is lumping computer sales into one category so it might be hard to find out individual sales by model line.

If all they have to announce tomorrow is a Motorola phone that has iTunes installed, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to recommend that my Mum give her £1300 to Mr Dell. Mr Jobs is going to loose out, but then he's got plenty of cash, so he probably doesn't really care.
Oh yeah, and Dell doesn't have any cash?

I don't understand that "I'll buy a Dell" logic that permeates this thread. Especially the childish "If Apple doesn't do what I want them to, then I'll buy a Dell."

I've never owned a Dell computer. What kind of company is Dell? Are Dell computers better? Is Dell's OS better? Do Dell computers last as long as Apple's computers?

Although I will definitely be getting an Apple, not everyone is as committed to Macs. Apart from the OS and the looks, you get much more bang for you buck with a Dell. Apple don't need to equal Dell's specs, but they are falling behind fast at the moment.

There's nothing childish about it. My mother currently owns a Dell, she is comfortable with Dell and Windows. I've been trying to persuade her that Apple/OS X is better. She doesn't want to spend as much as a PowerBook, but she wants more than the current iBook range.

It can be very difficult trying to persuade a person to switch when the current range of iBooks is aging. If she didn't need portable, the iMac range is very good at the moment, but she needs a laptop.

She can't wait for ever, so unless Apple release something soon Dell will win, not because Dell have a higher quality product or offer a better OS and software, but purely because they have products available now with reasonable specs and at the right price.

Apparently, according to www.appleinsider.com , there will be no special event launch tomorrow (although this was widely considered to be ipod related) it does kind of dampen the mood. So why was it again that tomorrow was suppose to/perhaps, bring the updated ibook.???

Nothing is happening on the 7th or the 11th or anytime soon, so just forget the notion of updates - if you need it - buy it or wait till june 2006.

the end

Could totally be a shot in the dark, but I checked the bestbuy website for ibooks and it claims that the stores in my area are fully stocked. However, I called both places and they have nothing at all, yet the new shipment comes in tonight. I'm not sure who apple gives priority for selling their products in Canada, but bestbuy is the only major outlet, besides ordering online....so who knows........

It is actually quite simple. In the windows PC realm there is no difference in innovation, size, look, specs, or OS. Therefore everything is basically the same with abit different trim this and that. The only differences key companies have against others are price and realibility. Dell is the only one who gives you both by side stepping a capital intense hard distribution chain. This compiled with bulk pachaking allows Dell to give the cheapest of all the computer par Dell and those companies running out of people's basements. They couple mid range support with fairly solid hardware to top the PC world int erms of quality. It is no suprise why they beat there closet rival HP. HP is more expensive for less. Simple as that. There is no room for innovation with XP. When one guy gets something like a Centrino processor or Bluetooth 2.0, then everyone gets it. So, Dell dominats the PC world except for the high-end range where IBM is the standard besides Apple. So it is simple to see why everyone not only those turning away from the Apple go to Dell. It is not chidlish but purely logical. Anyone who doesn't buy a Dell in the PC world either has an IBM, a brain defect, or a really good excuse.

I also think that you should apologize for such as childish chauding of users who go to Dell.

This thread is getting too dramatic. :p

We shouldn't loose hope, just because we didn't get an update on Tuesday, doesn't mean there can't be an update the rest of the week. I think there will still be update(s) tomorow reguardless if there is a media event or not.

That's just my two cents!

I'm one of those students who would really like an updated iBook, and have been waiting quite awhile for it to happen. I don't know how much longer I can wait though if it doesn't happen tomorrow or sometime next week. I'm noticing that with Apple, we really never know what they will do. A lot of people didn't expect them to switch to Intel, me included, and they did. All of us think they are going to update the iBooks any day now just because they are due for it, but who knows if they actually will. Maybe this is Apple's crazy way of selling more Powerbooks, by leaving us no choice but to buy them if we want something up to date.

But is all the tons of viruses, spyware, adaware, malware and everything else... worth it.

Is using the Windows Explorer worth it?

Is having all your personal, not able to be recovered files deleted due to a trojan horse/virus worth it?

Yeah you save a buck but with files being deleted magically, due to viruses... IMO It's not worth it. ;)
IMO ... nope to all those questions, and I'm not even starting naming everything that is wrong with Windows.

Yeah, you could back up M$ saying that Apple has viruses too, but, really, if you have a Mac... have you ever had to worry about ANY of those things. ;)

Nope... period.

honestly, i'm a mac fan and all, however you can't just say that windows xp is extremely unreliable, magically deleted, get viruses, trojan horsses

main reason why os x has virtually no viruses or trojan horses is because apple computers only have lie 7 percent of the computer market whereas microsoft has like 90 percent.

although i hate microsoft, windows xp hasn't crashd on me on this 2001 dell dimension, but one of the main reasons why i want an apple is because of the aesthetics, and the GUI.

windows xp is just stale.

I've been folling this ibook thread/update now for i'd say hmmm,,,,4-5 months. Anyway, I'm usually one for instant pleasure, but i've been holding off. ANYWAY, when i checked the canadian apple store, (i'm from canada) I notice the shipping time for the ibook is now 5-7 business days, where I swear 2 days ago it was only 2-4 ...does this mean something?????

P.S. I called my local bestbuy to see what ibooks they had in stock, they said they had not recieved a shipment of them in over a month and that the new stock should be arriving tomorrow (wednesday) night....so does this mean something?????

i think thursday is it. It's coming
