It is not chidlish but purely logical. Anyone who doesn't buy a Dell in the PC world either has an IBM, a brain defect, or a really good excuse.

I also think that you should apologize for such as childish chauding of users who go to Dell. Maybe if you had done some research before blabbering off you wouldn't look so stupid.
I did not mean that Dell is childish or that wanting a Dell is childish. How can that even be? That's not logical nor possible. You all misread and misunderstood what I said. I did not attack nor did I intend to offend anyone's love of Dell. You inserted your own insecurity and defensiveness when you read my comments, creating an incorrect interpretation that I did not intend.

What is unarguably childish is the whining attitude and language used by some in this thread, similar to "If I don't get my way, then I'm taking my ball and going home." That is the attitude and language used by some. That is childish. I admitted that I did not know about the subject I was asking about and then proceeded to ask. I was doing the research you accuse me of not doing. If that makes me look stupid, and offends your superior intelligence, well then so be it. If you think I blabber, then don't read my posts. However, calling people names is certainly and definitely childish.

I am completely unfamiliar with Dell products, hence I know nothing about them. Therefore I am unable to chide (chauding??? ) or pass judgment upon others in that regard. If you think I was chiding (chauding??? ) others, then you are grossly mistaken.

My questions about Dell and Dell products are completely and entirely serious and valid. I want to know if Dell is worth looking into. I appreciate the information given about Dell, as that was helpful in my understanding and addressed the questions I asked.

"If you aren't going to teach someone something POSITIVE in this lifetime...
Then stay out of the way so someone else can!"

Yeah sorry about the last sentence. However, I did take it out as I found it in bad taste after I posted it.

Maybe I did read it out of bad context.

Ahh its hard to read between the lines when its through a computer. Know what I'm saying.

come on people!

Everyone here keeps missing the important clues. Red Belly said earlier on page #39 that he was looking at one of the european apple sites, and under store there is a sign for a summer shopping guide.
(The website sometimes works..wierd, but if you search through the european apple store sites, you'll eventually finds one that works and has the guide.)
There is the brand new color 20gb on the right, and on the left is an ibook. HELLO!!! anyone get it?

The standard 20gb with color is brand new, and if an ibook is along with it, then it is obvious that there will be an ibook update very soon. They must have overlooked this and just put up the new shopping guide anyway. This also answers the question that the new ibooks will not have any new cosmetic looks, but that probably won't happen till they ship with intel.

There will be an ibook update very soon! I really hope so anyway.

I tried to look at one of the European stores, but none of them worked. You click on them and get an HTTP 500 etc...
Does that mean there's some major overhaul to the Store sites? Does it mean something? Anything?........

Yep, same thing happened to me. I tried all of the international stores, and they all worked except the European stores. This probably doesn't mean anything, but I hope it does. :D But if you put all the clues together, it seems to makes sense that iBooks are on their way.

God I hope so!!!!!!!

I am so excited because for some reason I've been going back and forth back and forth between the iBooks and PowerBooks... but the iBooks are my FINAL decision I CAN'T WAIT!

:D :p

Okay I am like freaking out (in a good way) in all these comments about how stores are down, BestBuy getting an order of new iBooks :)tongiht: wednesday) and that they haven't been updated in a very long time. Steve did say that there are still products in the pipeline! :D

Keep your head up high and be postive! :D :p :)

There just HAS to be a update tomorow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this has been like the 12th time we've been (what's the word, it goes something like stilted?)

I think not. I don't want to rain on the parade, yet I think Apple is just updating their sites with a summertime theme.

Apple usually does not introduce computer line updates, like a new generation of computers, at media events. Those usually come at the Expos. Speed bumps and minor upgrades have never been introduced at media events, those just get introduced on Apple's website. Plus, the PowerBook line needs to be upgraded prior to (or at the same time as) the iBook line.

Regarding accessing the non-USA Apple sites, are you using the drop-down selection menu at the bottom of the main Apple Store page? I just tried each one and they all worked for me.

Not to kill anyone's hopes and dreams, but the new image of a surfer on an ibook is not really a new image. I definitely recognize that from somewhere, I just don't remember exactly -- I think it was probably from some mail order catalog like MacMall or something similar. However, I don't have any proof (sorry, you'll just have to trust me). I do hope sincerely that these things will be updated b/c i've been expecting one since april, and I have less that a month before I absolutely have to buy one in time for school.

Man I hope they hurry and do this otherwise .... dude im getting a dell. And they the exact model I wanted for $752 last week. Too bad I wasn't on the internet that day to catch it.

As I'm still with my bet of an iBook update in october, I'm asking myself if this forum can handle a thread with 2500 postings ;)

This is a worst case scenario, but if the new iBooks waited until the Paris keynote, (which is on 20th Sept according to the website,) when would they be available and start shipping.

Will the buyer's guide policy change once all Apple Notebooks have been on "Don't buy - updates soon" for half a year or so? Perhaps it should be simply changed to "Don't buy."?

Any predictions on what the top spec iBook would be? It will be 1.5Ghz or less, but that would be such a small speed bump for such a long wait, as is with the iBooks released last October. iBooks with Intel processors for summer 2006 would probably mean the iBooks release later this year may not be worth it in terms of price/performance ratio. I too am excited to see what Apple comes out with.

I don't care about the processor speed that much, but I am of the thought that any NEW computer should be able to run the operating system and software it ships with. That means 512MB of RAM and a better graphics card.

I would buy an iBook today if it came with 512MB on-board and, say, a Radeon 9600M with 64MB, and wasn't any more expensive. It can keep the 12" 1024x768 display, it can keep the 1.2GHz G4 (although I'd prefer a 1.4GHz G4 on a 166MHz FSB), it can keep the keyboard that the letters wear off, it can keep the 30GB hard drive even (although I'd prefer a 5400RPM 40GB hard drive in the base configuration).

I can see a lineup with 1.33 GHz and 1.5 GHz iBooks on a 166 MHz FSB, and 1.6 GHz and 1.8GHz PowerBooks on a 200MHz FSB.

But to tell the truth I'm rather pessimistic about new releases today. Maybe next Tuesday, but I just think that Apple have lost their way and forgotten that updating their laptops needs to be done in order to stay competitive. That, or dropping the price.

Actually i hope that they don't come out with the iBooks, because then what else will i do with my time at work besides checking this thread so often.............oh who am i kidding, come out with the update pllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee.

yay... 43 pages full... and still no new iBooks... ok guys... I bet this thread might reach 100 pages before there will be a sign of something new... I hope to lose the bet... but at this rate... I might just win :s hehehe

My guess why there are no updates is pretty simple:
Apple has a roadmap that clearly states when the next revisions are coming and my guess is that the revision that comes after the next one is pretty far away --> at WWDC 2006.

This update will be the last PPC revision. The next will be a completly new iBook, new Chips new design and released summer 2006.

In order not to make the next cycle MUCH too long they wait this time to have to equal long cycles.

just my guess
