I ordered maxed out BTO on evening of 15th here in China (it wasn't available same time here as else where at it had to be accepted by the government first that could only be done after it was announced).. it has left the factory today and waiting to go through customs processing. Apparently even it is assembled in China and sent to me in China it still has to go through customs. Estimated delivery 21-23rd... but here we are 15 hours a head of the time in California.. so the delivery seems to be quite fast.

still processing here as well =/ ordered about 3 hours after announcement tops. USA order with 19-21st deliver date..how that happens... i don't know =/

AND paid expedited shipping.

Paying for expedited shipping for a BTO I believe has no benefits to your advantage.....

I ordered the 5K retina 27 inch Imac BTO with 4 GhZ i7 CPU, m395x GPU with 4Gb, 512GB SSD.

Was ordered friday oct 17th and it was shipped from Ireland today (to Denmark). Expected delivery Oct 21st.

I think this is fast! Initially Apple wrote expected delivery 23-27. of Oct, so they pushed it forward. Nice!

I am on "Preparing for Shipment"

I ordered on October 13th and got a delivery date between October 22nd and October 24th with a ships in 2-4 days so sounds about right so far. Obviously I hope to get it earlier ;)

Same old same old here.

I think it does, once its built and ready to ship it'll be shipped via overnight instead of standard shipping which could take another 3-5 business days, no?

It all depends on how fast the BTO's are completed. They'll ship as soon as its completed and ready; you might get it a day or two earlier most. But you might also get it as the same time as the guy who didn't pay for expedited shipping.

I spoke with a rep from BHphoto and the guy said they will receive BTO machine on 10/29.

I should receive my computer early November..

I'm Ok with it

I mean,

If they miss the delivery window (19th-21st) , with paid accelerated shipping..any chance i can get a refund on that extra i paid? lol

Possibly. I got a free upgrade to overnight right after I placed the order by calling cust svc. . Back in the old days, when they had a big new launch people were getting it overnight from China in a day or two even without overnight specified. I'm not sure that theory applies anymore. I just wish the folks in California would get going. getting really tired of seeing the word "processing" for a week almost now.

True, makes sense. Im happy knowing I gave them the extra 40 bucks or whatever it was. At least now I know if there is some sort of situation where I get priority, Ill have it.

Not just cali! Im in New York, still processing with a 10/20 - 22nd Delivery date and expedited shipping.

They are either going to ship a boat-load of iMacs all at once or else someone is going to miss their promised delivery date.
Strange we haven't seen more activity.

They assured me it would be at my door by the 21st........time is running out.

Looks like some are being made in USA.

I ordered a BTO upgraded 21" 4K iMac for my wife on release-Tuesday night and it was shipped from Sacramento, CA last Friday. I would have it today if I had paid the overnight delivery charge, but will get it in a couple of days from now.

I think there are a lot coming from the US. Think about how large the iMac is and how costly it would be to ship them quickly to the US where I am sure is a large percentage (if not a majority) of their customers. Mine still hasn't shipped, they have promised it will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Has to be coming from the US. I paid for expedited shipping.

try{
get _it_delivered(Oct 21-23);
happy();
}
catch(Exception out_of_expected_delivery_window){
syso(A new delivery date has be update);
sad();
}

Until recently, most, if not all iMacs were built and shipped from China. Tim Cook has worked to bring more production to the US. At first it was just supposed to be the Mac Pros, but now some iMacs are being assembled here as well.It looks like they are committed to US production.
