maybe next year, the bezel will finally be gone and the AW8 will be full edge-to-edge screen?
I'd like to see a photo line-up of all the Apple Watch screen sizes since the beginning, including this new one.
Maybe not. Apple historically does not upgrade the screen of Apple Watch so soon - within 1 year of updating them.

Not sure exactly what you’re implying about how we look at people 100 years ago— If you’re referring to how “primitive” that age now appears to us… think about it this way:

The difference between the year 1300 and 1700 in terms of technological and cultural development was in many ways not even as great as the difference between, say, 1880 and today. Change is accelerating, and the next century is poised to see change at break-neck speed.

Only in the past 30 years was the internet developed. We’re now seeing the beginnings of automation, supercomputers that are on our person at all times, video conferencing, social media, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, self-driving/electric cars, commercial space flight, drones, usable jet packs and flying personal vehicles, nanotechnology, CRISPR, 3D printing, etc. etc… all these things and more are just in their infancy, and culture changes along with them. These technologies themselves will drive faster advancement. Most of these things could just barely even be imagined by people 100 years ago.

The next 100 years will (once again) see technological and social change unlike anything witnessed in human history. In other words, people looking back at us 100 years from now will see a society appearing even more distant than we see those 100 years ago.
I hope I can live at least a few hundred years to witness all this, with the help of technology.

I wanted to buy an Apple Watch v1,2,3,4,5,6 and now 7. The health features alome would sell me; I’m on dialysis and take bp, pulse, etc quite frequently. The screen size on the 7 is gorgeous and I love being able to take my O2 sat levels.

The killer? 18 hour battery life. Not good enough, and this will delay purchasing v8, 9, etc. I ended up buying a Galaxy Watch 3 just b/c of battery life. Depending on the watch face I use I get up to 4.5 days on a charge.

It’s not 18 hours though that’s nonsense. Series 3 lasted 3 days when new and 2 days with a 4 year old battery between charges. It’s way more than adequate

I would love for Apple to create trade in incentives for Apple Watch like they did with iPhone 13?

Series 6 = $400 trade in
Series 5 = $350 trade in
Series 4 = $300 trade in
etc....

More watches can be sold if a trade in program were avaialble. Most people would not see the value of upgrading their watch, but every 2-3 years.
The only reason that happened is because it was a partnership with phone companies where the client has to pay for the monthly phone plan and other assorted fees. That wasn't a gift from Apple. The watch wouldn't generate those kind of fees, even the cellular models wouldn't so there is no reason for them to run such a promotion

While the bezels are thinner I think this perception is enhanced by the fact that the watch body also appears to curve around towards the front of the watch more than the S6.
Came here to say the same thing. It creates an illusion to make the screen look a lot bigger.

Almost no one, except for currently 64 percent of the responders to that poll.

How many times does it need to be pointed out on MacRumours that people on this forum really aren't representative of the general public? Respondents here are by definition really into Apple products. Most Apple-users don't care enough to upgrade annually, and also probably don't care enough to spend their free time arguing about them on forums...

People here still count so saying "almost no one" is still wrong. I expected this reply though.

You gotta love the illusion that the screen has been increased by more than 1mm with how they have made the metal chassis wrap around the edge more.

Wow! Thanks for pointing this out. What a cheap trick. So with a black watch face the old one might actually look slicker as there is more glass and less body?

So they decreased the black bezel a bit but increased the how for the metal bezel wraps up and around the screen. Looks like a cheap parlor trick to give the illusion that the screen is bigger than it really is. Meh....

This is for you guys - same photo but with everything blacked out except the displays. Series 7 has a significantly larger display - there is no optical illusion going on here, lol. What you're doing is the classic sour-grapes routine to downplay a product you have decided not to buy for whatever reason, but seem to be bothered that others are hyped about and want to convince yourselves that their excitement is not warranted so you don't get a severe case of FOMO 😂

Sure, they count. But its like saying 'almost no-one is a billionaire/cannibal/Tim Cook'. Absolutely, they exist. But most people aren't them.

This isn't a game of mental gymnastics buddy. He said "almost no one" is buying the S7 if they own the S6. I showed that is not true and that's it. End of story. Now move on with your day.

Sometimes I wonder what technology will look like 100 years from now. I hope we don't look like how we feel about the people 100 years ago...
I feel like with the way that technology advances, 100 years from now they look at us the same way we look at the industrial revolution.

Looks amazing.

Unfortunately, only visible when using full-color, full screen watch faces and apps… (which suck up more battery btw).

Visible but effective. I mean wouldn't it also be "effective" when using other items? I believe that Apple didn't choose to add full keyboard support because the "effective" screen was the same size. So even if you can't see the edge doesn't mean you aren't taking advantage of the space...

While there's no real need for me to upgrade from my SBSS S4, it still is a little tempting. Though I wonder what's the likelihood that Apple would change the body again next year. I can't recall a period where Apple only stuck with a body for one year before changing it drastically.

until the watch is less bulky, slimmer, smaller, thinner, then I don't see myself upgrading. It's a bit of a paperweight
