Already more than "almost no one"
That's just being pedantic. My point is that for those who don't see a huge difference in the series 6 and 7 would be less likely to upgrade. You don't see people upgrading cars every year - why should people be upgrading their smartwatch every year? Of course, that's not to say you shouldn't. It just seems unlikely.

Meh: I’m waiting to see if older watches like my stainless steel S5 will charge any faster with the USB C puck - if it does, scratch that off the upgrade list. The dust rating isn’t new as I believe this is the first time they bothered to get it so all recent watches should have it - meh.

Highly doubtful that you'll get faster charging with the USB C puck on your your S5.

Sometimes I wonder what technology will look like 100 years from now. I hope we don't look like how we feel about the people 100 years ago...
Just look at technology from the 80s. It’s all sock garters and flapper dresses!

Not sure exactly what you’re implying about how we look at people 100 years ago— If you’re referring to how “primitive” that age now appears to us… think about it this way:

The difference between the year 1300 and 1700 in terms of technological and cultural development was in many ways not even as great as the difference between, say, 1880 and today. Change is accelerating, and the next century is poised to see change at break-neck speed.

Only in the past 30 years was the internet developed. We’re now seeing the beginnings of automation, supercomputers that are on our person at all times, video conferencing, social media, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, self-driving/electric cars, commercial space flight, drones, usable jet packs and flying personal vehicles, nanotechnology, CRISPR, 3D printing, etc. etc… all these things and more are just in their infancy, and culture changes along with them. These technologies themselves will drive faster advancement. Most of these things could just barely even be imagined by people 100 years ago.

The next 100 years will (once again) see technological and social change unlike anything witnessed in human history. In other words, people looking back at us 100 years from now will see a society appearing even more distant than we see those 100 years ago.

Well, it's all very personal. I chose to upgrade from S6 not because of the screen size but because of battery usage. My 1yo S6 is at 74% battery condition and I can really feel the decline. Similarly, each year I'm buying a new iPhone Pro and a new MacBook Pro. I lose some money, sure. But also I usually resell my previous models for around 50-60% original price, so it's not really that bad. I travel a lot, and believe me, in some countries (i.e. India, Ethiopia), to consistently charge your device is a challenge. Electricity in the socket is not stable, it drops off etc., hence the huge battery issues.

With most watch faces coming with black backgrounds the larger screen will look the same: meh, although if the keyboard works that does mean something to me. Will the 1mm larger straps fit in my watch? Even if they don’t: meh.

Me thinks the real series 7 got botched in production and scrapped at the last minute. Probably coming out next year with new design and processor and larger battery and all the fixings. I’m waiting one more year.
“Meh”…when someone uses that word I immediately think of someone who is annoying, a downer and basically someone I would not want to spend time with…..no offense to u at all sir u might be a great guy it’s just something that comes to mind is all. Have a great day!

Has anybody compared the screen on the 41 mm s7 to the screen on the 44 mm s6? I'd love to have a screen that's basically the same size but with a smaller form factor.

I’m a dialysis patient and if the watch had a better battery life I’d buy one. The oxygen saturation is so ething I get checked once a week anyways; I’d love it to be able to do that at home and not have to go in to a hospital.

Yes, lol, I would use this feature.

Sadly, not everyone is healthy.

Tom
I have lung disease and the AW oxygen sensor is hit or miss. You can buy a dedicated finger pulse oximeter for less than $30.

I‘m coming from a Series 2, so an upgrade for me either way. Now I can only hope they have titanium ones available at the store tomorrow (but I‘m guessing I‘ll have to wait until November/December).

Even a faster processor would be considered a small thing, but I would consider it huge since it really could quicker
I wanted to buy an Apple Watch v1,2,3,4,5,6 and now 7. The health features alome would sell me; I’m on dialysis and take bp, pulse, etc quite frequently. The screen size on the 7 is gorgeous and I love being able to take my O2 sat levels.

The killer? 18 hour battery life. Not good enough, and this will delay purchasing v8, 9, etc. I ended up buying a Galaxy Watch 3 just b/c of battery life. Depending on the watch face I use I get up to 4.5 days on a charge.

Tom
You could always buy 2 if you want to be in the Apple ecosystem. I have the 5 and ordered the 7. Pair both. Wear one, when you need a battery top and want to make it into the next morning, switchover.

Most people are not looking to upgrade from the series 6 to the 7 anyways, so any such comparison is moot in my book. The target market is the series 3 or 4 user, or an iPhone user who is not already using an Apple Watch.
don't discriminate against the 5's 😃

I'd like to see this too. I'm really surprised that this comparison has not been published anywhere (that I've seen).

Funny, they post this to get the 'definitive' comparison but the cases are totally different physically and optically. One is matte, the other a mirror.

Wow! Thanks for pointing this out. What a cheap trick. So with a black watch face the old one might actually look slicker as there is more glass and less body?
To be honest your probably right, the screen will probably look larger on the previous generations if what’s on the screen has black borders.

Also you have to remember the extra mm of screen is actually on the curvature of the glass which we all know reflects light… so some details may in fact be a little harder to see then previous generations
