Because YOU turned the phone on, but someone else can take it and buy half app store ? they are protecting themselves.
no cuz it would ask for your fingerprint

what I still find utterly annoying is that u have to enter your apple ID password after a reboot on the store. I mean you already put in your passcode and your touch id after a reboot... why isn't TouchID enough to verify it is really you making the purchase? doesn't apple believe in its own invention?
If you ask Siri to "Call [name] on speaker," the call will be made via speakerphone
The dream is to have a Siri that does things mid-call when you say, "Hey Siri, enable speakerphone."
When you buy an app it would need your fingerprint.
I would like to know if "Hey Seri" also works when I connect met iPhone to a simple Pioneer Bluetooth car radio. Anyone tried that?
Free apps are not dangerous...
I have set it off by accident more often than I've gotten it to work intentionally. Although for a while I was trying to do it without the phone being plugged in, which is a requirement...
Call me when "Hey Siri" can be activated without iPhone being plugged in.
You can't get Siri to use the speaker with FaceTime Audio though :-(
That will be the day when Apple doesn't care about battery life. Speech recognition eats power. The problem is that Siri must be listening all the time to make sure she hears you saying "Hey Siri". That's why you have to press a button to activate it when you are on battery.
Yeah.
That would be great...
Too bad this only works if you disable Touch ID.
... Would really love to hide Newsstand once and for all. The ability to hide it in a folder with iOS 7 was a step in the right direction
While I've liked what I'm hearing about some of the updates these do nothing for me. I've been unable to get Siri to work reliably enough to ever use it. It doesn't find what I need, doesn't do what I ask, or doesn't respond at all. As a result, except when I'm trying it after the latest update to see if it's improved enough to be more than a silly novelty, I just leave it off. And as far as the store, maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I want passwords for everything. I don't want to disable them.
Seriously? I have a crappy Android Moto X that listens all day, and I use its voice activation for calls nav etc, still have battery left at end of day. That will be the day when Apple doesn't care about battery life. Because the Moto X has a special dedicated chip for that which doesn't drain the battery to do that.Just put Google Now on your phone. You can use its voice activation I believe. It wont have all the functionality of Android but is is still useful and accurate.

Perhaps one of the updates will get Siri working for you correctly as what you are describing isn't what it's like for most people nor how it should be under normal circumstances. While I've liked what I'm hearing about some of the updates these do nothing for me. The sad thing is that Siri prior to Apple integration could do crazy things like buy movie tickets and make reservations.
I've wondered the same thing about a thousand times.
I can't think of a reason one should ever have to enter their Apple ID after gaining access to the device via TouchID.
If Touch ID is turned off, when a device locks, the keys for Data Protection class Complete, which are held in the Secure Enclave, are discarded. The files and keychain items in that class are inaccessible until the user unlocks the device by entering his or her passcode.
With Touch ID turned on, the keys are not discarded when the device locks; instead, they’re wrapped with a key that is given to the Touch ID subsystem inside the Secure Enclave. When a user attempts to unlock the device, if Touch ID recognizes the user’s fingerprint, it provides the key for unwrapping the Data Protection keys, and the device is unlocked. This process provides additional protection by requiring the Data Protection and Touch ID subsystems to cooperate in order to unlock the device.
The keys needed for Touch ID to unlock the device are lost if the device reboots and are discarded by the Secure Enclave after 48 hours or five failed Touch ID recognition attempts.
Because touching a button for two seconds might just kill you.
I just wish Hey siri would consistently work...
