what I still find utterly annoying is that u have to enter your apple ID password after a reboot on the store. I mean you already put in your passcode and your touch id after a reboot... why isn't TouchID enough to verify it is really you making the purchase? doesn't apple believe in its own invention?

I've wondered the same thing about a thousand times.
I can't think of a reason one should ever have to enter their Apple ID after gaining access to the device via TouchID.

I would like to know if "Hey Seri" also works when I connect met iPhone to a simple Pioneer Bluetooth car radio. Anyone tried that?

When you buy an app it would need your fingerprint.

maybe when there will only be touch id idevices they will make it like that.

you need it plugged, as in charging, i believe.

Pass

While I've liked what I'm hearing about some of the updates these do nothing for me. I've been unable to get Siri to work reliably enough to ever use it. It doesn't find what I need, doesn't do what I ask, or doesn't respond at all. As a result, except when I'm trying it after the latest update to see if it's improved enough to be more than a silly novelty, I just leave it off. And as far as the store, maybe I'm a bit paranoid but I want passwords for everything. I don't want to disable them.

I have set it off by accident more often than I've gotten it to work intentionally. Although for a while I was trying to do it without the phone being plugged in, which is a requirement...

Do iPhone users actually use "Hey Siri" plugged into that 12" charge cord?

Call me when "Hey Siri" can be activated without iPhone being plugged in.

That will be the day when Apple doesn't care about battery life. Speech recognition eats power. The problem is that Siri must be listening all the time to make sure she hears you saying "Hey Siri". That's why you have to press a button to activate it when you are on battery.

You can't get Siri to use the speaker with FaceTime Audio though :-(

One thing I like about my Lumia 735, is that you can append "... on speakerphone" to the "Call X" command, and afaik, have been able to for a while. However, Cortana is a bit weird in that she'll happily send/receive SMS audibly with ease... but if you ask her to do the same for email... well, she won't

I'm very seriously considering selling up my Lumia and getting an iPhone 5/5S, after having only owned the Lumia 735 for 2-3 weeks, it is VERY poor at many tasks, although still a great phone, it has so many downsides for things that SHOULD JUST WORK, like uploading photos and videos etc, and the best camera in the world doesn't make Lumia any more useful if the apps are lacking, and I just can't abide that - there is NOTHING like "Paper" by 53 for Windows phone, and on my iPad mini retina, it's a newly discovered DREAM app.

Does this "call X, on speakerphone" feature, in iOS 8.3, also work on the iPhone 4S? I'd like to recommend Windows phone to more people, I just can't - iOS is sheer perfection, mobile OS wise.

Thank you :)

They can add a dedicated core for it in the m9

Fingers crossed that in iOS 8.3 or iOS 9 they add the ability to hide stock apps like on the Apple TV. Would really love to hide Newsstand once and for all. The ability to hide it in a folder with iOS 7 was a step in the right direction

I'm not sure that solves anything; now you've got the same situation - an icon you don't want, only it's a folder icon, but the end result is the same.

Just put Google Now on your phone. You can use its voice activation I believe. It wont have all the functionality of Android but is is still useful and accurate.

Seriously? I have a crappy Android Moto X that listens all day, and I use its voice activation for calls nav etc, still have battery left at end of day.

Because the Moto X has a special dedicated chip for that which doesn't drain the battery to do that.

Perhaps one of the updates will get Siri working for you correctly as what you are describing isn't what it's like for most people nor how it should be under normal circumstances.

The sad thing is that Siri prior to Apple integration could do crazy things like buy movie tickets and make reservations.

She still does... She literally does both of those things.

I had the original Siri app before the servers got shut down. Siri does WAAAY more now than she ever did as a standalone app.

I can't think of a reason one should ever have to enter their Apple ID after gaining access to the device via TouchID.

According to the Touch ID security white pages, Touch ID is encrypted and the encryption keys are reset every time you restart your device. Inputting your security code or your Apple ID decrypts the secure enclave so that you can use Touch ID. This stops someone from being able to hack the secure enclave and get get the chip to false-fire a Touch ID approval.

If Touch ID is turned off, when a device locks, the keys for Data Protection class Complete, which are held in the Secure Enclave, are discarded. The files and keychain items in that class are inaccessible until the user unlocks the device by entering his or her passcode.

With Touch ID turned on, the keys are not discarded when the device locks; instead, they’re wrapped with a key that is given to the Touch ID subsystem inside the Secure Enclave. When a user attempts to unlock the device, if Touch ID recognizes the user’s fingerprint, it provides the key for unwrapping the Data Protection keys, and the device is unlocked. This process provides additional protection by requiring the Data Protection and Touch ID subsystems to cooperate in order to unlock the device.

The keys needed for Touch ID to unlock the device are lost if the device reboots and
are discarded by the Secure Enclave after 48 hours or five failed Touch ID recognition attempts.

Because touching a button for two seconds might just kill you.

While you are hilarious...

I've noticed that the frequency I download apps is about once a month & the frequency with which I restart or power off my phone is about every two weeks.
Thus, every single time I download an app since the day iPhone 6 came out, I have to type in my password to once again "enable" touch to pay. I've never seen this "2 seconds" to download an app in reality.
I would LOVE it if I was not prompted for a password for free apps!!!
(not willing to disable TouchID to get it... obviously)
