Shipped

Mine has shipped via Fedex and it's not coming out of China...Shipped from Ontario California. Hopefully Fedex screws up and delivers early though the shipping notification says future delivery for March 16th.

You are easily showing that you don't know anything about production issues.

There is a fine balance between available components from sub-suppliers, capacities in factories, actual sales vs. forecast and , and , and..........

If you know how to work a calculator take 300,000 a day and relate it to whatever initial forecast there is and maybe you learn something?

As for the demand, wonder why?
Millions of people must be totally stupid to buy such a bad product from Apple when they could all have a Galaxy or other copies. Total Idiots!

It is better to just ignore him. That would probably make him more upset than hearing the name "Apple" mentioned. In time he will fade away like the others.

WTF, sold out!? All that's different is the screen. People really want this thing for a screen? Wow, this country really has officially gone to hell. I'm a mac guy but I would not waste my money on a new iPad when it's the same as my iPad 2 only it has a better screen. People are crazy. Sold out? If people will buy this, I bet I could piss on an iPad & sell it. People will buy anything. Awful.

Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, some people skipped 2 and still have 1? Sounds like someone is a little low on funds to get 3. Don't worry, we will let you know how sweet it is.:)

agree

For me, the two most important considerations when buying a tablet are display quality (poor contrast/low pixel density = increased eye strain) and selection of apps (which define what you can do with it), since they essentially define the usability of the tablet. I guess video camera quality may also be a minor consideration. But to be honest, how much RAM it has, the speed of the processor and the availability of hardware ports (everything just connects wirelessly anyway) make no difference to me unless they constrain app performance, which I haven't noticed on my 1st generation iPad.

Your most important considerations were what made me jump > having a better solution display will come in handy for all the docs I have to read. And even though some of my most desired apps are not available, enough are to justify this.

Like so many folks have said here, buy when you need when you need it.

As long as I have mine before mid April, works for me.

Ill wait out the iPad storm till it clams down..need to see if there's screen issues and other defects that has to be fixed..but yeah that screen is sure something to drool on :D

Can't wait!

I've owned iPad 1 and iPad 2 -- each being sold to finance the next one. The iPad 2 was sold 4 weeks ago for $530 (it was a 64GB Wifi)... from this article on how much you can expect to get for your used iPad ( usatoday.com link ), I feel like I did very well.

The wife and I have decided on 64GB 4G Black (Verizon) -- two tablets this time so we don't have to share.

Also, we decided that we'll skip iPad 2013 and go ahead and get AppleCare+ on these for the protection.

Very excited!

EDIT: Just check the REFURBISHED page on Apple.com and I now I'm super psyched as they are selling a refurbished iPad 2 with the same specs for $549. I sold mine for $530! Very happy with the amount I was able to get out of that Craigslist guy! Thanks, Karl! ( link !)

Aside from Friday mines will be going naked until the new swith easy canvases come out.

Best case

Better than those shotty wood ones

Let's not forget the famous words of at least one Apple pundit, "Apple will become irrelevant".

Can't find anything on that. Not sure when this was said. But if not for the iPod, it could very well have been. And it kind of was at the end of the 1990s.

So if that was said in, say, 1997, then it was a fair statement to make at the time. If it was in 2011, then a dumb ass statement to make.

I think it was 1987...

My wife bought the ipad2. She is skipping this one. I skipped the iPad2 because I wanted the retina display. When they announced the display, I ordered as soon as possible.

Keeping or losing your job maybe? ;)

don't think it would come to that. I do know that security is very tight when it comes to Apple shipments. When Apple says "jump", FedEx says, "how high?".

So yes, while they are in fact in FedEx possession, they are being held at origin facility on Pallets until thursday.

Finally something other than that ridiculous tether thing that u have to pay for.

Right. Kept coming back to the site and couldn't believe there wasn't anything new posted. So glad to see something besides that tethering thing.

I visit this damn site more than any other website. Lol

Mmm... If the battery size was doubled to compensate for the higher power requirement of LTE, should we expect about 20 hours of battery life when using only WiFi or in Airplane Mode?
Does the WiFi-only Model also have that same big battery or a smaller battery that provides 10 hours of use?
20h would be very optimistic. Yes, the wifi only got the 11200mah battery, but a good chunk is going to the many many more pixels and a rather beefy quad core graphics chip.
But, my I pad2 got advertised 10h, 9h with 3G but with brighness on half, Wifi on, location off and 3G off I get a confortable 12h every time. So I hope for more on the new IPad.

Lilo777 stated that in 2011. I even tried to get him to make a bet with me on that comment. Funny, he never responded back. He is the poster boy for the foot in mouth disease campaign. LOL!

I can't help but laugh at the ignorance of some people.

:)

But I guess technically everything becomes irrelevant at some point. Roman Empire... British Empire... USSR... Richard Simmons... to name a few.

Anytime soon? Very most positively not likely (maybe)...

His comment was in reference to how Android was going to be so popular that no one would want to buy an Apple iDevice. It is a shame that Apple does not listen to people like that and pack it in and just give up.

Apple is doomed! I am surprised that none of the Android device manufacturers have used that has their marketing tag line yet.

ordered it saturday, from switzerland - estimated arrival: april 10th.. noooooooooooooooooooo

good thing that i still have my ipad1 :)

Could it be due to longer hold ups in Customs or because you ordered after the initial quota for your country was fulfilled?

Well, if you have survived 2 years with your iPad 1, an extra 25 days shouldn't be so bad after all.

It's too bad they never launch the iPad or iPhone with sufficient stock to last for more than a day or two.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Maybe apple could spend some of their money and hire better forecast analysts?

Please apply, they will pay you handsomely if you can forecast what the public will buy.

Smart business based on cash flow, distribution channel lead times, planning adjustments, ramping production and components up and down, etc.etc.

Say they make 5 million iphones/ipads and keep them in a warehouse for launch day. Just so nobody has to wait, huh?

Plus, how would they know what sells best with all the colors and configurations?

By the time they build up the warehouse stock to 5 million pcs. they bind the capital it takes to make the products and they need more warehouse space, which after the introduction is no longer needed.

A make and sell business is one of the sweetest ways to do business.

They are in that phase right now, but eventually there will be a dud nobody will wait for.

the white is horrible, any video you watch is washed out, kinda same with internet, theres a reason all tvs have black borders

I disagree. I have a white iPad 2 and I love it. Videos don't look washed out to me and I'm on this site right now on it. Internet looks fine. I think the white differenciates the iPad from other similar looking tablets.

When I ordered my new 32gb iPad I got it in white also. Matter of preference really but I don't think the white washes anything out.

so it's only going to be sold at Apple retail stores. not at places like best buy?
A friend of mine called one of the Best Buy stores nearby and they told him to give his name/phone for a list. They said they will call those people in the list Monday to let them know when and IF they can pick one up. They are not even sure themselves whether they are going to get them.
