As someone who had been ridiculed for this very thing ( living with my parents after college because I could not find a job), I resent this comment. It is now the unemployed's fault that employers won't hire them? Some people on here are extremely ignorant.

I guess the obvious question is if you're unemployed and living at home, how can you justify spending $600+ on a device you arguably don't need. Certainly a proper laptop would be more beneficial in landing you a job.
I'm pretty sure all the professional Angry Birds playing jobs have already been snapped up.

Because someone is unemployed doesn't mean they have no money. I was unemployed for two years due to medical reasons and did just fine living off of savings from a prior part time job. Lots of assumptions going on here on things that are none of anyone's business. I bet there's plenty to critcize about the critics saying this.

Okay good point. But then don't jump to conclusions yourself about having things to criticize about the critics. I was only asking a question.

Hmmm.... maybe people are buying the iPad 3 because they:
(a) don't have an iPad at all
(b) upgrading from a camera-less iPad 1
(c) want 4G speeds
(d) a second iPad for the household

but none of those are possibilities? People are just mesmerized by shiny things, right?

Don't forget the selfish bastards that bought multiple iPads for eBay purposes...
(I know a few brags about this on this very thread, I still stand by these words).

That being said, I can wait. Haven't ordered yet, although I know I want one. But since I don't have a 1 or 2, I figured I can wait a bit more. If Apple wants to continue growing, they have to sell me one at some point.

My card has been charged but item is still processing
I went from standard to next day and it still says delivers march 16

i had this same problem with iphone 4. needless to say i got an email day before launch changing my delivery date to a week later

I'm sure Apple has sold a lot...but any company that goes to a newspaper and states "sales are off the charts" is simply a publicity stunt. Makes you wonder if they REALLY are selling like made...or if they're NOT selling so well and they're trying to drum up business. Apple didn't release any numbers to provide any proof.

Who knows how many were available for pre-order/or ordered....50,000? 200,000? 2 million? Sooner or later we will hear.

to bad mine doesn't get in store until march 23rd :(... i can't wait

i'm getting the iPad 3 64GB Black WiFi Only

But i want White, any of you guys who has had the white ipad 2 and experienced any difference from the black color. any cons?

the white is horrible, any video you watch is washed out, kinda same with internet, theres a reason all tvs have black borders

If your apps are any good and you are making lots of money selling them, I wouldn't consider claiming that you are "forced" to buy a new iPad every year.

EDIT: Lol, I have just checked you out, and if you are who I think you maybe, then your apps are very good. So, I would imagine that you were not complaining about being forced to buy a new iPad every year.

I'm mostly a "weekend" developer but I have a few apps on the store that earn more than enough for a new iPad and iPhone each year. I do think as a developer you need the latest device to do any kind of credible testing, especially when they do something like double the display resolution. And of course it's a "luxury" that you can afford to do this with iOS since there are only 2 different screen sizes and 4 different resolutions :)

I want one but I'm not doing the camping out nonsense. I mean, you have to have more of a life than that. Jeesh

i always wonder why this happens, do you mind telling me why you didnt just preorder on march 7th, no disrespect, just curious why

WTF, sold out!? All that's different is the screen. People really want this thing for a screen? Wow, this country really has officially gone to hell. I'm a mac guy but I would not waste my money on a new iPad when it's the same as my iPad 2 only it has a better screen. People are crazy. Sold out? If people will buy this, I bet I could piss on an iPad & sell it. People will buy anything. Awful.

why on earth would you assume people who ordered this had an ipad 2?

Just looked at my FedEx tracking. It is 90 miles away from me in a FedEx Depot in Ontario California. The remarks say delivery is "on hold for Friday Delivery" Going to be a man about this and not whine, but...

Did not buy an iPad 1st Gen because know Apple well enough that the 2nd Gen is always the one they should have released in the first place. Then did not buy a 2nd Gen because I knew I would regret not having the Retina Display. So I think I am going to be Happy.

Probably a few more than 90 miles away from you. That's Ontario, CANADA not California.....

It makes no difference. Wait for iPad sales figures for fiscal 2012. You'll be blown away.

Well they have always sold millions, so I'm sure they will do the same here.

I know the whole "sales are off the charts" thing is just marketing guff, but I wouldn't be surprised if sales are particularly through the roof. I'm no fanatic, and certainly don't upgrade kit every year (this is my first iPad, and my first iPhone was the 3GS), but I'm usually interested enough at launches to have a look on the website and have a look at what's new.

I can't remember the last time the store was down for anywhere near as long as it was last Wednesday, presumably due to the exceptional level of demand. And then when it eventually did come back up, ordering was all a bit like trying to order Glastonbury tickets.

No, I wasn't complaining. :) I was just pointing out another reason why someone would get one (to be honest, I'm perfectly happy with the iPad 2. I don't *need* the iPad 3. But mine is getting here, along with the 1080P Apple TV I was waiting for, on Friday).

There was a time when we were selling over 1000 copies a day. But that was before a bunch of "me-too" apps that do less, but have better marketing, showed up. The whole value-for-money proposition in the App Store is completely in crazy alien territory.

Ohh you have to get it...! Make your apps take advantage of the Retina display.
Don't worry, lame apps will eventually go away, as users will give bad reviews and stop buying.
Also, buyers look at the "Latest Update" info for any app they plan to purchase. Well, at least I do.

I order the iPad 3, but not the AppleTV. I have a gen 2 already, and my big screen TV is not 1080p, only a 24" I have in the bedroom.

Well, if its only the screen it would be worth it for me, if the difference is similar to iPhone 3GS vs iPhone 4, it should be quite, well, to quote Apple "amaizing"

But it is not only the screen. Its also vastly faster conection speeds (for me going from 3-7Mbs to stable 35-40Mbs) and a double size Battery. I am hoping that without the need for the power hog LTE the Battery life will improve over my iPad2 (and that is impressive)
Since they kept the prices, its only a small amount of money to pay after selling your old iPad2. I think, worth the money.

Cool story dude.

Maybe apple could spend some of their money and hire better forecast analysts?

I think they probably knew that they were going to sell out.

I think they prepared as best as they can, because producing and shipping millions of electronic devices to be ready on a certain day of a certain week is not easy.

I don't think Apple didn't foresee a massive sales rush.

Analysts are just guessing too. Better educated guessing, perhaps. But still just guessing. And in any case, Apple is going to err on the side of under rather than over-production. This is a new model (and the first model to go on sale alongside its predecessor) so they can't be certain yet which specific model will sell the best; so they don't want to be stuck with a glut of inventory in the channel.

So much for being more expensive than an Android tablet.

Looks like folks still have no problems paying more money for a quality device than less money for third-rate garbage from Apple's competition.
