100%. Been using Apple devices since Apple II in the 80s as a kid. I used to upgrade my Apple gear religiously, even for minor updates on oft-used devices like the iPad. Now, outside of iPhone which I upgrade every year for the camera improvements, I only upgrade when things break or get massively long in the tooth. I have no interest in supporting this new version of Apple any more than I have to, and it’s purely about the dollar vote to me. I could afford to spend more than I ever could earlier in my life now, but I won’t go out of my way to support a company content to release half-baked products and incredibly buggy software. I now have my nose plugged while watching the “magical” charade of product introductions. It’s genuinely sad and embarrassing to me to see how Apple has fallen. They may be more profitable than ever, but they’re beginning to rot from the core out and it’ll eventually come around for the bottom line if nothing changes internally.I use Apple products for decades now, but we (the consumers, pro or non pro) should really stop buying those things at the moment. It’s the only way to force them to end those ridiculous products and their choices. As long as we buy them they'll make them. If everybody would use their phone, Mac or iPad for 5 years... I worshiped this company for their "being different" against IBM and Microsoft but it makes me sad to see that they have become what they fought. It’s on us to tell them that this is not why we came to Apple in the first place.
"Challenge accepted"Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached Peak Apple.
It's weird, the article makes it look like it's a female-female adapter, so how exactly you're supposed to plug the pencil in to pair it remains to be seen?So... can we use this adapter with the iPad Air/Pros? Meaning you can now use the Apple Pencil 1st gen with any USB-C iPad? Or will they software block it to only work with the 10th gen iPad?
It's not my problem as I am aware of my behavior. And as you are here on MacRumors you must have somewhat of a special interest in this company too? But I guess you are just a troll that needs some food.Well there's your problem
Seriously. This product lineup is getting more and more needlessly confusing. I used to have friends that were into Apple products and friends that used Apple products, and both camps generally liked Apple a fair amount and spoke highly of them. The Apple enthusiasts joy has been zapped in recent years and the Apple users all complain endlessly to me now about how lousy everything works nowadays, as if I worked for Apple simply by being a one-time enthusiast/the friendly Apple problem solver. Again, the financials may not bear it out now, but this wildly misguided product lineup and increasingly-frustrating software experience will come back around for the bottom line. This is perhaps the worst decision Apple has ever made... Like, that is bonkers. One step in one direction then 2 steps back elsewhere. Sometimes it's 3 steps back, like this example here. I remember when Apple was so against "fragmentation" but this is fragmenting beyond anything I've ever seen.
EDIT: Like, don't release it if it's not ready. Clearly this model iPad wasn't "ready" since it's missing the magnetic bar to connect and charge the Apple Pencil 2. Complete waste of resources and plastic like someone else said.
It's so annoying trying to tell people about the iPad or iPhone or MacBook or whatever else and having to throw in a million "but" and other caveats.
No, it’s called greed. My only thinking for this ridiculous dongle/lack of support for 2nd gen is that the landscape camera impacts the ability/space in the bezel for magnetic charging and connection needed for the second gen, other than that it’s crazy
USB-C to USB-C cable (included with iPad), it plugs from the adapter to the iPad to pair, and you can plug it into a power brick to charge if you wanted. It's weird, the article makes it look like it's a female-female adapter, so how exactly you're supposed to plug the pencil in to pair it remains to be seen?
You can still charge from the iPad too (iPad -> USB-C to USB-C charging cable -> USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter -> Apple Pencil). This is how you would pair the pencil to the iPad as well.Because that would be too simple. The new adapter does not let you charge the Pencil from the iPad itself, unlike the previous generation iPad with lightning connector... Their adapter only allows you to charge it from the separate power adapter cable, so not only will you find yourself with a dead pencil on the road, but no way to charge it until you find a power outlet.
You can still charge from the iPad too.
iPad -> USB-C to USB-C charging cable -> USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter -> Apple Pencil
