So this is pretty much similar to the 3rd gen Pros in terms of specs. Just another type of A12 (don’t know if it will be faster), and a extra camera

that’s it really

Yeh that’s what I see, pretty much the same as previous Gen but with another camera (which is never used) and an improved CPU

I will bite on buying it only if it is future proof for 3 years+! That means 8GB of RAM inside. My iPad Pro 11” currently has only 4GB inside. Apple has alway been very frugal on it RAM since that the main thing that makes a model obsolete!

I have an old iPad Air. I have no idea how much RAM is inside - for all I know it could be 1 MB (kidding).

That said, it never occurred to me to worry about RAM size since I've never found performance lacking.

Not a hope in ‘ell mate, no chance Apple will be placing that size of RAM into the new Pro’s....well not until 2030 haha

My only concern is if the aluminium is stronger or the internal design was tweaked to address the weakness from previous gen.
Also, isn't it interesting that there are no benchmarks to see the speed between A12 and this new chip? Apple always compares it so why not here?

I'm intrigued to know more about this A12Z chip! Sounds like beefed up graphics power (8 core graphics is specified on the website) over the A12X? Considering how powerful the A12X already was even if this has the same CPU power it's still going to be an incredible performer!

Based on the description (or lack thereof), it seems like the A12Z is identical to the A12X, albeit with slightly better graphics (maybe to better handle its new AR capabilities?). Interesting why we are not getting A13X, though the processor is still plenty fast at this point.

I want one! Now let's see where ipados goes.
I assume now that Apple is clearly embracing mouse support in iPadOS we get better cursor support instead of the circle. I have been using my iPad Pro only for the last few weeks and it absolutely can replace 95% of all of my needs and once medical schools allow iPads to be used to replace laptops fully, there will be no need for me to have a laptop.

I have a 128GB gen 1, and I'm looking forward to moving up to this guy this year.

A funny thing about the cellular - I've had cellular iPads since the iPad 1, and I realized that I literally never use it. If I go cellular I tether to my phone. iPad GPS? I don't think I ever used it. That saves me $150. Plus it's nice that the base model now covers the 90% of use cases. The only time my iPad runs out of storage is if I load it up with movies for a long trip.

I am/was in the return window, bought my pro last week before everyone got crazy. So a return and upgrade is a no brainier. However when I can return it to the store is the question. I’ll be skipping the overpriced keyboard as I’m not trying to make an iPad replace my MacBook.

i tether my iPad with no issues. It’s pretty much on demand. Little to no comprise on speed on my LTE network. Save the 150 plus the 20/month data (att).

I'm sure Apple wants to be leader in AR - and have to think these Lidar sensors will quickly be considered a non-pro feature and added across the product line.

They need to democratize the technology for it to be successful.

As long as with iOS 13.4 one can use an Apple Magic mouse or Trackpad, then my ZAGG Limitless BT keyboard (RGB multi-color backlit) will work perfectly and save me $300! The new KB looks cool, but not sure it's $300 worth of cool.

I prefer android for my phone but I really like iPads. This looks great but no way would i pay these prices, might get me a used last gen model. I actually probably don't even need a pro, I would use it for photos, web browsing, games sometimes and flying my Mavic 2 with it

I've been waiting for this release because I wasn't sure if I wanted to get a Surface Pro 7 or a new iPad. With trackpad support, etc. this is nice but Apple has made the decision pretty easy for me. There's no way I'm getting a $1000 iPad with a $400 keyboard when it's still iPadOS. I can get a modestly upgraded Surface with keyboard for basically the same price and it will do a whole lot more.

The keyboard cover is what really breaks the deal here: Microsoft is basically offering the same thing for a fraction of the price. I'm pretty sure Apple is nuts.

(Also, what the heck Apple? A12-series? I know it's a great processor but it's still insulting to have a flagship device use a previous generation CPU.)
