Lol, you should write columns. I can't say what you write isn't true but you can write with an extreme flair rarely seen. This was meant as a compliment and maybe Apple should hire you for their next product introduction :D. With that skill of writing, you would be able to turn the tides at Apple and the next iPad Pro would sell like crazy even as it was only a piece of paper with an Apple logo on it. You are able to justify the $ 200 price increase it will get ;)
Thanks.
Sadly, my writing talents (as far as they exist...) do not seem to align very well with MR rules and regulations - and the Sultans of Censorship running this Board rule me out quite frequently.
That makes it difficult to succesfully implement your proposal - how rewarding that might be.
But I will closely monitor my MTBB (Mean Time between Bans) and see if that might improve along the way.

On the flip side.

The videos showing multiple drop tests, where chips of the screen are missing, deep gouges, camera covers missing, and EVERYTHING still works, is quite encouraging.

Even if you treat your iPad like trash, it will still keep working, bends, chips, or not. I am no more worried about this device, than I am using my tank iPad 3.

If you’re rich this is a non issue. Amazing how many complainers there are

There's the difference between rich and wealthy. Rich people may not care about this issue, but wealthy people are more likely to care about the durability of a $1000 product, no matter how high their own personal net worth/income is or how many of these they can afford.

I’ve had the iPad mini 4 for at least 2 years and the 10.5 iPad Pro for a year. Neither of them have had any bending problems. And according to spec they are 2mm thicker than the new IPP. Why would the new model be a problem when my existing ones are fine?

I love how in your twisted logic paying $1000 for something means it should be not-at-all durable instead of a quality, solid product.

It is durable if you don't sit on it or put it in a rucksack when you've no idea what might press on it.

I took my 2017 MacBook Pro away all summer and had it in a hard case. Knowing it was going to be in my rucksack I didn't want to risk it getting damaged. If you want to treat these things like they are military equipment you're going to have to put them in a case that makes them as such.

It’s very possible that specific bent iPad was ‘tested’ its durability/strength by Customers who were _intentionally_ trying to bend it. I mean, iPads are handled thousands of times and abused. It wouldn’t surprise me if that is in fact the reason why it’s bent.

The iPads I saw in store are in or at least on their keyboard/folio cases. I wonder how they would get bent unless someone was actually trying to do it in that situation.

Apple DID learn quite a few things from the iPhone 6 incident.... one of the things that they learned is that Apple customers in general are not a very demanding group of people. By "demanding" I mean, that some might grumble and complain temporarily but after the emotions pass they revert back to, "shut up and take my money".

Why should Apple expend the effort to make their devices less fragile when that isn't a high priority for their customers? In Appleland, stuff like "Pro-motion" sells, sturdier devices do not. On the contrary, by making less sturdy devices, they are making MORE money as more people get scared into buying AppleCare. It is a brilliant move... a move I choose not to participate in, but brilliant nonetheless.
So basically the return of the "sheep" meme, just said in a different way.;)

In other news, cars also bend when intentionally run into a brick wall.

"Scratch test"...the dude took a brand new BOX CUTTER to the back of a piece of ALUMINUM. Did you expect it to do NOTHING?

I keep making the joke, but guys, these things aren't made out of Adamantium.

I hope you're all happy with the 2020 iPad Pro that's as thick as a 2011 iMac and weights 50 pounds.
Scratch test is referring to the glass and sapphire camera lens. They both shouldn’t scratch as easily as “normal” glass.

I don’t get pro tablets. I’d rather have a keyboard and mouse and the screen sit up on its own - laptop.

Seems to me I’d want a tablet because it’s cheap, to read books and the news and watch a movie. Water proof too. For the beach?

But to each their own! ;)

You have a thinner frame spread over a larger area. Of course it's going to be weaker, relatively speaking. With similar thicknesses and materials, iPhone would have a greater resistance to bending than an iPad mini, which would have a greater resistance than a 9.7, which would have greater... 10.5... which would... 12.9. Make the frame large enough and keep the thickness the same and it will bend simply from it's own weight.

It's amazing how casually he destroys an expensive device in that video.

Do these YouTube videos really make that much back in profit that it's worthwhile to do this?
Yes they make bank. Viral video can make many times a normal video as they break out of the channel subscribers and audience.

1000 views results in roughly $1 so any video that gets over a million would pay for itself with ease. The real money for you tubers is in product placement with a set price per video it can be an entire years US wage for tens of placements on videos. A larger channel can support 5-10 people full time if they fully monetise their content in multiple ways.

I can’t decide which was more painful about all that metal scraping... the sound of it or watching him always drawing that razor sharp blade towards his exposed thumb. I kept expecting a blood bath. Wear gloves or cut AWAY from yourself. Yikes.

As for the bending... I was ready to dismiss that ridiculousness out of hand but honestly... I was shocked at how easily it bent. My jaw dropped when I saw how little effort that took.

Something that gets handled and used everyday for work, or claims to be “Pro” shouldn’t be made fragile delicate or flimsy whatsoever. Especially at its price tag.
In the real world things drop, get stuffed in backpacks and get thrown in the backseat all the time. This is normal and a $1000 iPad should at the very least hold up to scratches or being bent.
Sure the video was a bit extreme, but it taught me to save my money and not buy this iPad for sure.

True, wealthy people seldom abuse their money and they usually take good care of their stuff.

If I use a power drill on the new iPad Pro it will be drillable, so shouldn’t we have drillgate???
Desperate YouTube wannabes.

Yep, I hate heavy or thick. I rather have it bend easily. If you happen to bend it then it’s just like a curved display. Very cool and excellent user experience. Nothing brings joy to the heart like brand new bent iPad.

Well, you should consider tablets made by Amazon, HP, Sanyo, etc, then. No worries.

Me? I'll stay with Apple and be pleased for years. If I should "bend" it, I'll take responsibility for my actions rather than whine making oblique/backhanded/childish comments.

Apple glass is crap. I gave my mom my XR for a few hours while I was in surgery. It sat in her purse, and now it is scratched after having it for less than a week.

The problem is that under normal usage, it seems possible that the new iPad pros can bend. People don't normally use a power drill on the iPad screens but under normal usage people do use 2 hands.

You should stick around, rumor is next iPad Pro iteration will be so skinny lean that face-ID sensors will be sticking out in the front too....but at least you can put your iPad on the table face down and the screen will stay clean.
You scoff, but it's virtually guaranteed that the next model will be thinner. And if Apple has to make more things stick out to claim that bragging right, then they will.

Lets face it. iPad pro chassis is too weak to carry around backpack without risk of bending it. Problem seems to be lack of strengthening beams inside chassis that can be found example macbook 12 retina. Thin chassis is not problem.

It actually is still really funny. Only a thin skinned Apple fan boy will try to deny that.
...
And YES, I do believe the words were "you are holding it wrong".
...
Anyways so yes I do personally think it gets funnier every time.
I think the words were "Just don't hold it that way". But I agree, and it's even funnier when the primary defense of Apple is that you got the wording wrong.
