Must be a big problem for people who carry their 11" or 12.9" in their pockets. Sorry but who would think the iPad would not bend when treated in this manner. These types of complaints and examinations are just garbage. If you treat your device in this manner, then yes it will break.

Same crap happens with cars "what do you mean I can't take a exit ramp at 90MPH" Yes dummy the car will have problems no matter who makes it.

Anyone who bends their iPad doesn’t deserve an iPad in the first place!! It’s an iPad not a chocolate bar! Apple can make it as rigid as they want, just stop bending it!
Now if you _blend_ it, that's something we want to see!

I knew from the moment I saw that lone camera bump there would be problems. Seriously stupid design, especially considering that it officially supports a high-end stylus. That said, the ease in which it was bent was still pretty shocking. Just another indicator to me that Apple stocks are crazy overvalued. They can't get away with pumping out garbage like this indefinitely. Cheap Chinese phones will cause a major disruption in Western markets. Apple desperately needs to invest in pro users instead of trying to milk them. Make a new pro tower. Consolidate the laptop lineup. Upgrade iOS with legit OS features and make the iPad pro useful.

I’m still using my iPad Air and was eager to buy the new iPad pro because the air gets slow. I’ve always taken good care of my iPad Air but despite my carefulness with it I had many occasions that would be problematic with the new iPad Pro.

I’ve had several times I jumped into my bed and forgot it was in bed. Weighing 90 kg I suppose the new iPad Pro would fold to a banana. Also my iPad glitched several times from the sofa on the floor. Those happens to be normal accidents and is the same as when you drop your iPad knee high on the floor. As my coach is black and so is the ipad, I remember several occasions I sat on it. This all without bending or breaking.

For a mobile device it should be sturdier by default. But those who think it’s not a problem: let’s wait and see. For me: I’m waiting for a stronger version. Knowing myself, it is needed.

I really don’t get apples obsession with thinness. It really makes zero sense to make a tablet this thin which is prone to bending. Why can’t they make it a little thick, have more battery life?

The problem isn't just being thin. Apple added wireless charging for the pencil, so that part of the iPad frame isn't made of metal.

True, wealthy people seldom abuse their money and the usually take good care of their stuff.

The distinction between rich and wealthy is often lost in common usage. However, rich has recently been given a more negative connotation associated with short term financial gains and lavish life style. The notion of being wealthy is sometimes associated with building long term valued assets based on value decisions. I realize this not necessarily how everyone uses the terms.

There was a popular book called “The Millionaire Next Door” that purportedly did a fair job of describing this distinction. I never read it, but I believe the idea was that there are lots of wealthy people that have built their fortunes with long term investments and deferred material gratification. They drive older cars from reliable manufactures. They buy clothes from Penny’s or Kohl’s. They spend money on education rather than expensive consumer goods. The common denominator is that they look for value.....which often includes reliability.

So, back to the bending issues, there are wealthy people that can well afford an iPP that might decide not to purchase one because the cost and reliability issues don’t represent a good value to them.

On the flip side.

The videos showing multiple drop tests, where chips of the screen are missing, deep gouges, camera covers missing, and EVERYTHING still works, is quite encouraging.

Even if you treat your iPad like trash, it will still keep working, bends, chips, or not. I am no more worried about this device, than I am using my tank iPad 3.
When Apple refurbishes a device, they replace the aluminum body and screen anyway. So, as long as all of the internals are safe/durable, they don't really care if it's bendable.

Here Apple goes down the road Colt went, just much faster. There IS a difference between companies that are run by the owners and by the people who enjoy what they do, and the companies run for the sole purpose of pumping stock price to satisfy shareholders. All of the latter will (and should, for the customers' benefit) meet the same end. The only thing, Colt can sell some amounts of SAAs, 1911s, AR-15s and Cobras for a hundred years more, there probably will be a market for historical hardware. It would be hard for Apple to persuade anyone to buy their "innovations" when they are hundred years old, though. Oh, how much do I hate the current duopoly in mobile phones market. I don't want data-slurping Android despite all its functionality.

The interior of the new iPad looks like there’s space to add reinforcement without adding thickness.

I think Apple is getting slammed for this in part because they charge ever increasing premium prices but look like they’re skimping. The 1st gen iPad 12.9” had a 6 ft USB cable and now we get a 3 ft old gen 2.0 USB-C cable, underpowered chargers, subpar sapphire camera glass, etc.

As for the bending... I was ready to dismiss that ridiculousness out of hand but honestly... I was shocked at how easily it bent. My jaw dropped when I saw how little effort that took.

Same here. I fully expect any tablet to bend if enough force is used but the new iPad seems to bend extremely easily. It’s literally like bending a cracker.

With iPhone 6 bend gate people bending the phones looked like they were ready to pop a vein on their foreheads. With this one it looked like folding a couple of cardboards. Way too easy.

Interesting video. It does show with different instruments that shapphire is used for the lens cover.

The takeaway is the sapphire used in Apple products is man made rather than natural. It's like passing off cubic zirconia as diamond.

Thinness is a clever marketing guise to actually make it less durable and more prone to overpriced repairs or even making it disposable to force frequent device purchases.

I don’t think it’s durable as it should be. But are any other tablets out there any better? If people didn’t want overly thin devices, they wouldn’t be buying them and apple et al wouldn’t be making them.

I can't stop looking at his hands, bloody marks, picked skin, and dry hands. Seriously, leave your skin alone a week before making a sensational video. Your hands look like a dumpster fire.

Someone else shared a video where the $100 Amazon tablet holds up well. It's like a rubber mallet compared to older gen iPad 2 that's like a hammer. The new gen iPad is embarrassing.

Absolutely right on.

Actually, the price rises in Apple products has been a bit concerning. Not sure what their end game is. Become a luxury product only for the rich?

Yes - Everything is moving to that. They are the only folks that have any money.

As an example 60% of Americans can't handle an programmed bill of $400.
