Those volume buttons certainly look strange.. and wtf is that thing in the middle directly below them - a lid unlock slider lol? These clearly cant be final/real images.

Mark Gurman already confirmed that Face ID will work in both portrait and landscape mode. What I think Apple need to do is add more productivity to the new iPads especially if they are touting these to be computer replacements(which for some they already are).

Since my 2011 MacBook Pro died last week I’m in the market for a new laptop, while I love my iPad Pro 12.9” I simply can’t use it for long term typing (I write a lot) so that leaves me with the 12” MacBook which I like, but if Apple wants people to use iPads to replace their computers then they need to do more, especially for people who are not just the average consumer (what about writers?)

I swear, Apple is trying to make their products as annoying to use as possible. Removing the bezels (which act as the iPad's handles), adding a camera bump (makes iPad wobbly on flat surfaces), and removing the headphone jack (makes listening with good headphones exponentially more difficult than it needs to be). WHO on Earth is making these design decisions?!?! WHY is Apple making their products so annoying to use?!?!

"Elsewhere, a closer look reveals a distinct lack of headphone jack,"

A device people use on planes?
Some of us are Android handset, Apple tablet people. I have _zero_ interest in bluetooth headphones.
The home button is annoying, I don't like losing it, but I could deal.

The lack of a headphone jack? I'm out, looks like my iPad Pro 10.5 is the last iPad I'll own

Enough of this stupidity.
If no button on an iPad becomes to be, I don't care what Apple thinks or fans here say, sliding up for home is not as easy or quick or definite as a home button.

Regardless that this article is conjecture....I'm so curious to see what Tim lets Jony remove this year...

Have u tried sliding up on an iPhone X? It feels more natural than the button, and you get used to it within minutes.

Do you use the Apple Smart Keyboard? I love it for typing.

Apple would never use this design. The angular chassis would cut into the user’s palms while holding. There’s a reason all iPads have had rounded chassis since the beginning. Also, I have the 10.5 iPad Pro and the camera bump is a non issue.

I’ve tried it and I’m just not a big fan, it doesn’t have the same feel as a normal keyboard. I wish they would do a keyboard like the Surface Pro.

There shouldn't be a camera on iPads at all.

People don’t just use the camera for taking pictures! It’s used for AR apps as well.

I don't mind the bump. Loooooots of people use their iPads as a camera. I'm guessing we see a major spec bump here. And I welcome it. May as well get decent pics out of your iPad if it's your main camera.

Beyond alkxthis I don't know that I've ever seen a tablet not in a case. And cases make any camera protrusion completely moot.

The smart connector could work like this but they would have to completely redesign the Smart Cover. The pins would have to go on the outside and the flap would have to be large to reach that position. Imagine something like this:

This render is not appealing, and seems *unrealistic* in some ways and I’m confident th next Gen iPad won’t resemble what this picture will look like.

Wrong. You’re definitely living in a bubble (along with the Apple folks). To be fair, it’s a pretty big bubble, BUT “small minority” my ass. It’s not and they’re substantial chunk of Apple’s most important/influencial users

How do I charge my iPad while mixing audio?
You’re using it wrong.

Serial mobile leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared high-resolution renders today, courtesy of tech blog MySmartPrice, that are based on supposed leaked CAD images of Apple's upcoming redesigned iPad Pro.

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple is working on two new iPad Pro models that take design cues from the iPhone X, measuring in at 11 and 12.9-inches.

In addition to the thinner bezels, no Home button, and edge-to-edge display of the expected iPad Pro design, the mocked-up renders depict a device with an angular chassis boasting iPhone 4-style chamfered edges, rather than the rounded chassis of the current-generation tablet.

In another seeming nod to Apple's evolving iPhone handset design, the device is shown with separate antenna strips along the top and bottom edges of the chassis, instead of the single continuous antenna lines on either side of the existing cellular models.

Elsewhere, a closer look reveals a distinct lack of headphone jack, two rows of speaker vents on either side of the Lightning port - similar to the alleged CAD images leaked last month - and two microphone ports located above the TrueDepth camera embedded in the bezel.

Also like the CAD image before it, a Smart Connector is positioned on the back of the device directly above the Lightning port, instead of the landscape orientation on current iPad Pro models.

MySmartPrice claims the positioning is related to the limitations of Face ID in landscape orientation, however well-connected Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has said horizontal Face ID support is a feature in the upcoming iPad Pro models, which are expected to be announced this month.

The legitimacy of the additional details in the renders - and the alleged leaked CAD images they are supposedly based on - have yet to be confirmed, but Apple's scheduled media event on September 12 should reveal all.

For a tech website saying its phone 4 style with "chambered" edges has me thinking the people that run MacRumors aren't techies after all.
The 4's didnt have Chambered sides the 5 did.
The five was an evolution of the 4 style obviously.

That being said I hope the next years iPhones return to the iPhone 4/5 style. While I prefer the 4 style WITHOUT chambered edges technology has evolved so much that it would be clean with no glass extension like the 4's had. The 5's almost where even with the chambered edges but still had a little gap where the glass was over the frame.
Iphone 4 style with flush glass front and back would be beautiful.

More likely someone mixed up the scematics and this is the surface pro, it looks like the form factor that it uses.

Looking forward to this IPad Pro “Mock”. Hopefully being wholly theoretical and virtual it should be cheaper and considerably lighter than the current models? I have already ordered one in Gullible Red.

I just can't see Apple doing an iPad with the smart keyboard only working in portrait mode that would be very silly, no one wants to type with their iPad in portrait mode, imagine show stupid that would be with the 12.9"

Apple need to do something about the Surface Pro line up, they have nothing that is really competition, while the iPad Pro is a great device it simply can't do full desktop apps/work. I love the Mac and will still own one (i may buy a new iMac) but the Surface Pro is also calling me which could end up replacing my iPad Pro, and this is coming from an Apple fan
