I love straight fillet edges but I hate protruding camera and most of all I hate rounded edges at any screen. Who told you that we like Frintstones tv-like screens?

Can't imagine there ever being a justifiable reason to have a protruding camera on the back of an iPad.
To force you to buy a case. I would not be surprised! Recently Apple is so happy to do everything in his power to disappoint a long time loyal customers, even make impossible to repair products and raise the price of them exponiantelly, every year.

protruding camera on the ipad does not affect anyhow because of ipads size...not like iphone

Does the protruding camera on the back of the current iPad Pros force you to buy a case?

iPad 1 sans the bulging back? Personally prefer the current design, but at least it's something fresh after umpteen iterations...

Serial mobile leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer shared high-resolution renders today, courtesy of tech blog MySmartPrice, that are based on supposed leaked CAD images of Apple's upcoming redesigned iPad Pro.

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said Apple is working on two new iPad Pro models that take design cues from the iPhone X, measuring in at 11 and 12.9-inches.

In addition to the thinner bezels, no Home button, and edge-to-edge display of the expected iPad Pro design, the mocked-up renders depict a device with an angular chassis boasting iPhone 4-style chamfered edges, rather than the rounded chassis of the current-generation tablet.

In another seeming nod to Apple's evolving iPhone handset design, the device is shown with separate antenna strips along the top and bottom edges of the chassis, instead of the single continuous antenna lines on either side of the existing cellular models.

Elsewhere, a closer look reveals a distinct lack of headphone jack, two rows of speaker vents on either side of the Lightning port - similar to the alleged CAD images leaked last month - and two microphone ports located above the TrueDepth camera embedded in the bezel.

Also like the CAD image before it, a Smart Connector is positioned on the back of the device directly above the Lightning port, instead of the landscape orientation on current iPad Pro models.

MySmartPrice claims the positioning is related to the limitations of Face ID in landscape orientation, however well-connected Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has said horizontal Face ID support is a feature in the upcoming iPad Pro models, which are expected to be announced this month.

The legitimacy of the additional details in the renders - and the alleged leaked CAD images they are supposedly based on - have yet to be confirmed, but Apple's scheduled media event on September 12 should reveal all.

Try picking up it on my flat table .
iPad never needed such large antenna lines .
Outdated copy of old rendering.
= rubbish!

Have u tried sliding up on an iPhone X? It feels more natural than the button, and you get used to it within minutes.

I haven’t. I’m basing my comment on multiple frustrations with sliding up on an iPad. Slight slide up for the dock, bigger slide up for the control panel. Often a slide brings the wrong desired result for one. Secondly, there’s a pause until the control panel shows, while before ios11 the slide up brought up the control panel very quickly, by comparison. A major gripe of mine for various UIx “improvements” Apple dreams up like this, for new ways of doing things that were already awfully slick, are the additional pauses it takes to do what used to feel instant (like “it just worked”). To me, you can’t beat the home button for instant actuation and quicker touch-ID login without having to take the time to orient the iPad to face you.

These “do more with less in the name of innovation” steps by Apple over the past few years are making their products a lot less “easy and fun” and more complex like, dare I say, Microsoft products, noting that apple’s much simpler approaches to doing things that Microsoft made clunky was what drew many of us to Apple products in the mid 2000s. Apple should be very careful at this stage of heading towards a product with no or limited buttons, ports, or outer controls…

The point is that people actually use the headphone jack on the iPads.

People used eggs when making cookies for years, but that doesn’t mean good cookies need eggs.

How do you use 4 headphones at once?

Everyone is always whining about headphones jacks. Buy air pods, they’re the greatest thing apples made in many years by far. It’s been years since I used a headphone jack on an iPad anyways

Looks like the iPhone 5 and 10 mixed together

I like it, I hope we get some new OS features for these two models

I can finally upgrade from the 9.7" pro

I hope one day Apple will move past this solid brick design with the harsh edges. I can't say I miss the iPhone 4 and 5 design at all. I can't wait for these things to die out and they're not even released yet.

Although a good one, keep in mind that this is only a rumored rendered image of what it will look like. We’ll find out soon enough if it is accurate.

Having said that, i do have opinions & questions based on this render. I like the edge to edge display. Although i think I prefer the softer look of the current ipad pros, i think i could get used to the more angular lines of this rendered ipad. I would have to hold it to determine which is more comfortable tho. The lack of a home button i don’t think i mind, if the face ID works...preferably in both landscape & portrait mode.

The only thing that concerns me really is what appears to be the lack of a smart connector in landscape mode. I use my current ipad 99 percent of the time in landscape. I see my ipad more like a laptop than a really large iphone. Thats the way Apple markets it too, so i’d be suprised frankly if they would favor portrait over landscape. I’m cool if they put a 2nd smart connector on the bottom by the lightning port. I see how some people would like that orientation while typing. Kinda like a sheet of paper in a typewriter.

However, i wouldn’t want to have that option at the expense & sacrifice of typing in landscape mode. Again, i use my ipad as a laptop replacement. I use my iphone in portrait mode, not my ipad. If this render is correct, perhaps the landscape smart connector is hidden along one of the flat long sides? To me that would make more sense. Give people the option of typing in landscape or portrait with the smart connector.

I dunno, something tells me Apple wouldn’t make this change based on Face ID not working in landscape. To me forcing people to type in portrait only would be too obvious that Apple couldn’t do something. Too glaring of a mistake on their part. Besides being limiting, I don’t see Apple allowing that perception. That they couldn’t make face ID work in landscape so they now are going to sell how much better it is to type in portrait only. Nope. Don’t see that.

No head phone jack i can live with. The speakers are great on the pros...and i already use airpods for my iphone, so i’m cool with this change. Although i know others won’t be.

Again, we are all basing this on a render that may or may not be 100% accurate. September 12th isn’t that far away to find out for sure.

Stop calling it an edge-to-edge display. It couldn't be less of an edge-to-edge display. It's not even that on the iPhone. Also, chamfered edges? the worst design detail Apple ever included in their mobile devices.

I think edge to edge as in vertically, no home button

I hope this protruding camera is a joke.

Why do people keep saying this.. my iPad from 2016 has one.

Those edges are nice... sharp, bold, a bit aggressive, a happy medium between the newer phones and iPhone SE/5 generation. Would love to see this design language on the next-gen phones.

Yah this render looks pretty suspect, those volume buttons look ridiculous.. and so does whatever that latch-looking thing below the volume buttons is.
